I'm seeing mention of "Halloween" and I assume its celebration is much different now than it used to be? Would anyone care to explain it to me? This... Google can only tell me so much, though it seems to involve dressing up.

I have recently acquired an item that allows me to borrow books from the nearby library. Dare say, I deeply enjoy reading, so I would like any and all recommendations you're willing to give me of novels that I ought to read.

Alright, whatever nonsense this is can stop now. I'm already quite aware of how much of a failure and disappointment I am to everyone I know, I don't need to also dream about it repetitively every time I attempt to get some sleep.

Oh, this is quite the gloomy weather we're having, isn't it? Seems the sort to make one want to stay inside reading by the fire.

I have seen others post on here wishing some a “happy birthday” recently. Is celebrating your day of birth a common tradition? And hypothetically speaking, if mine were to be on Saturday, what would one do to celebrate?

As of a few weeks ago I've officially been here for six months. In ways, this place gives home a run for its money when it comes to drama, fucked up shit, weird shit, good and bad. It has been a crazy ride so far.

In other news I had my ninety day evaluation at work. It went well. My boss even said they could see me moving up the 'ladder' with time. Time is all I have. Unless I get yanked back home.

Is it common for the entire landscape to change on such a whim?

You know, I've seen smaller fireworks before, but nothing like the grand displays that have been illuminating the sky over the last day or two. I could never have imagined the beauty they would actually be capable of. I mean, the colors and the size of some of them! It's extraordinary!

Is there a meaning behind them or is it simply something the people of this port enjoy doing?
