Prompt #2: Family
I suppose I could go into the various ways in which my relatives have all met their ends, but then we'd be here all day, and there are some wounds best left alone. Some details I'd rather not even admit to, these days, not even to myself.
Here is the long and short of it: I have had three mothers, three fathers, one husband, one brother, two sisters, and two sons. They have all been taken from me in some way, whether because they chose to leave or because...circumstances caused it. Even my twin, who is as close to constant as anyone can come, has been separated from me, at times. In some people this induces a fear of abandonment, apparently.
None of this means I will ever love any of them any less, though.
And that's the point. Family is inescapable -- not because they are your blood, because sometimes they aren't, but because you let them in, and once you do that, you can't make them leave your mind even if you try your hardest.
Trust me. I'd know.
