Tris had spent the monorail ride back down to the city with Chris. Going back down hadn't really been a question. Anja was down there - they had to go back. Neither he nor Ethan were willing to leave her down there, even if it meant passing up the possibility of finding a way out. Either they all got out, or nobody did, no matter what pipe dreams Tris might have been harbouring. When it came down to it, family was more important.

So, that meant facing a future here, for now. Which meant, first things first, making sure he still had a job. He knew he had to go to the club as soon as he could, but Chris had been a little pouty when he'd brought that up. Clingy as well - not wanting to be separated again. Which was understandable, he knew, but sometimes he had to play the adult. So, the ride back had been spent reassuring Chris with quiet words, touches and stolen kisses until he pushed him off into the crowd of people disembarking when they got to the bottom of the monorail line and turned to head into the centre of town.

For those trapped on the surface there is good news - people have managed to get the monorail working. With a catch - it will only do one trip. Down. Nobody can say whether it'll ever be coming up again.

The robots still aren't working and down below, that's starting to cause some problems. Especially when it comes to food service. It hasn't been noticed before as such, but restocking of the city restaurants and stores have always been automatically carried out by robots. Now that the robots have been offline for some days, those food supplies are starting to run low. MABEL also is nowhere at all, leading some people to think that the main computer must also be offline as well.

There is a locked door in the back of the technology and research centre that nobody has ever been through - if anyone decides to break in there, they will find a small room with a single monitor in it. On the monitor is a schedule. That schedule will tell them that due on August 1 is the next boat to the island. On it will be more supplies and possibly newcomers.

Who: Cillian and Kyle
Where: The train station

Cillian sat back and looked at the controls, a pleased little smile on his face as the train hummed. It had taken him a while, longer than he'd expected actually, but he'd figured it out. He'd actually hot wired a train. It wasn't exactly the kind of thing he could put on his resume, but it felt like an accomplishment. Now he just had to figure out how to drive it, but that shouldn't be too hard. It only went one way, so only one track, but he wanted to make sure he knew how to stop it if there were people on the tracks. That part scared him, that someone else might be climbing the tracks when they went to use the train. He'd need to make sure they moved as slowly as possible, and maybe an emergency way to pick up the people if they ran into them. Thinking through all that could go wrong, maybe hot wiring the train had been the easy part.

Normally Julian was good with people. Normally he liked a crowd. But when people were scared and he was displaced, things weren't normal. He hadn't met enough people to find a group to stick with and had come up to the park alone, which was how he'd stayed when the robots went down. He'd found a hoodie in a gift shop, then slept on a bench, waiting for someone to fix the robots so he could go home. This was the situation he'd been hoping to avoid his entire life, but there he was again, alone in a park with no place to go.

Adam spent his time with Kyle, with Riley, but once he was rested he made sure someone was looking after Riley and got to work. It should have been surprising, but he did manage to find a tool box in a shed near one of the rides. It had just about everything he could want, minus a handsaw, but he could make do with what he had. Then he went looking for Tris, setting the tool box in front of him.

“Take that. I need your help.” He nodded away from the restaurant, back towards the monorail.

When the group from below finally made it up to the amusement park, Cillian faded into the background, watching everyone for a bit before heading to the train. Maybe he could help out there, make it easier for people to get back down, if that's where they wanted to go. It was a far more sophisticated machine than he was used to working on, but he figured that if he tinkered with it long enough he would be sure to get it working. At least, he hoped so. Going back down the tracks the opposite way, by himself, really wasn't an option.

It wasn’t his finest hours, but the climb had been long and arduous and Tris was exhausted when he got to the top. So, he’d collapsed to his knees the moment that he’d finally hauled himself back up onto solid ground, then pretty much faceplanted into the dust for a moment. He never, ever wanted to do something like that again. Being a hero fucking sucked.

He’d looked up then and mentally corrected that summary. Being a hero fucking sucked when you were a weedy musician who rarely saw the inside of a gym. Some other people, on the other hand, carried heroics off with ease. Fucking firemen and their damn muscles. He probably didn’t even have a hair out of place, unlike Tris, who felt like he was going to die.

Still, he’d made it to the top and he rolled himself onto his back, then forced himself to his feet. Adam had already disappeared - looking for Kyle and his kid, no doubt - and Ethan was doing some kind of slo mo romance thing toward Blake. Which made Tris look round, wondering where Christian was. Wondering if there was someone going to be waiting for him.

Adam was exhausted, but that hardly mattered. What mattered was getting to his boys. He followed Blake, assuming everyone would be together and he left Blake with Ethan outside, pushing into the place looking around until he heard a shout. “Dad!”

He'd barely turned towards it before Riley smacked into the side of him, arms around his knees. Adam ducked to scoop Riley up, holding him against him tightly. “I'm here, bud,” he promised. “Came to get you.”

Blake didn’t like the idea of people being stuck on top. Especially Ethan. Or people being stuck below. And he not be able to immediately get to Ethan. The message from Tris had him worried, but having talked to Ethan, it seemed as if all was at least okay...at least no one was seriously hurt and Ethan and Christian were fine. Anyway, he thought Christian was fine.

He’d grabbed a couple of bags from the station, they would have most everything the two would need to climb plus waters and limited medical gear. He then raced to the pod he shared with Ethan and grabbed the Xanax Ethan had said to grab, and then was on his way to the monorail station to meet up with Tris.
