MABEL alerts all citizens of New Eden that for one night only, there will be a casino in the town center. One of the larger bars has been entirely converted, red carpet running through the front doors, welcoming people inside. Bright lights, loud music - the works.

Run entirely by robots, it looks like something straight out of Vegas. Everything from gaudy slot machines, to high end blackjack and roulette tables. There is even a show playing throughout the night in one of the back rooms. It's really quite something.

Who: Sage and Micah
Where: The Hospital

Sage laid back on the hospital bed, impatiently tapping at the side rail as he stared at the ceiling. He'd have never made it to the hospital without Thea. The nurses had been impressed with her handmade split of branches and fabric, but that didn't prevent the damage he'd already done. Apparently he'd done more than roll his ankle, something he'd been worried about when he'd been unable to put any pressure on it at all without a spike of pain shooting up his body. It wasn't even the good kind of pain, but the kind that sent him crumbling to the ground with a curse. It felt like forever since he arrived, since they'd poked at his ribs and ankle, then performed x-rays. Another bad sign, he decided, but he'd have to wait and see what the doctor had to say.

Haru was right in thinking that Micah was crazy for finding work when there was none. The only problem was, Micah had officially run out of things to do. He'd checked the stock of every cabinet, realizing that the nurses on staff did a find job of maintaining it, he'd gone through every chart, made every notation needed, then gone through them again. He'd done two set of rounds, but they had barely any patients that were staying long time, and one seemed to be more sleeping off a hangover than in need of medical attention.

With a sigh he dropped into a chair at the nurses station of the ER, carding his fingers in his hair and wondering what the hell he was going to do for the rest of his shift. Or if he even had a shift considering he was pretty sure Keegan was puttering around herself. It was so, so, so different from being at the ER in Chicago, somewhere always busy, always full of patients. There was never enough staff to cover it and now it felt like he had too much staff.

But it's painfully close to the man I already have in my life. So maybe that's a sign. We got the same result as well.

The alarms had Micah out of bed in clothes and with his bag in hand in less than two minutes. He was like that. It was a habit that came from catching sleep between double shifts in the ER, that when something went off, it was time to rise to a crisis. He was grateful, for the moment, that Haru wasn't there, but not because he didn't think he could handle it, just that Micah would have felt bad for being halfway out the door before he remembered him.

The scene in the courtyard wasn't the chaos he was expecting, at least so he thought until he spotted a couple of robots charging at the glass walls of one of the pods. He adjusted his bag, heading that way to see what was going on. "Is there someone stuck inside?"

Micah had to walk away. He couldn't keep going back and forth with Haru. He couldn't keep expecting more from someone who didn't want to give it. So he left the hospital, telling the nurse behind the counter to page him if something came up, though he guessed he could get thirty minutes or more to himself if he needed it. He'd grabbed a cup of coffee from the vending machine that seemed out of another decade, then taken it outside to get some fresh air.

It wasn't really fresh though was it? Micah looked up at the ceiling/sky thing and felt it crushing down on him. He'd made a mistake, he really had, and Haru, fuck what he'd said. Micah had to believe it. He'd patched up Lian's neck. He'd seen how the woman reacted to him, to his offers to help. That had to be a sign. It had to be the truth. Why would Haru lie about something so horrible? Why was Micah trying to justify it?

He took another sip of his coffee and leaned forward, elbows on his knees. What he needed was answers. Advice even. And maybe a less stressful night's sleep.

I'll be making house calls today if anyone needs it.

Micah stayed the night, but when the box showed up in the morning, Micah moved it from Haru's doorstep to his bedside. He added a handwritten note with it.

Micah wasn't good in social situations. He hung the corners, held tight to his bag and tried to blend in, but beyond looking the part, he didn't really pull it off. He gotten a drink, then realized how many other people were drunk and focused on that instead, trying to order unwanted waters and hand them off to people who really, really needed them. Eventually he'd found a booth against the wall to slump into, beer in hand, watching the crowd. Sometimes he wished he was better at this. At making friends, at enjoying a social situations and not just thinking about how he'd be better off at work. Maybe if Haru was around...but he'd not seen the man at all. Maybe he'd found another corner to hide in or not bothered to come at all.

Sure, the thing was a bit weird, but Ryker didn't care in the slightest. Exodus was fully stocked, the lights dimmed just right, and his DJ stand was set up perfectly. He kind of like the feel of the charm bracelet on his wrist, pleased with the subway token and DJ equipment charms he'd been given. He almost didn't want to give them away.

One song rolled into another, the deep bass came out of the speakers and subs in a way that he could feel in his bones, even if he was only listening in the headphones he was wearing. Required attendance or not, he was determined to make sure at least people had a soundtrack for a good time.

Micah was half dead on his feet when he headed towards Haru's pod. He'd stayed where he was until the lights came back on, occasionally pacing the pods, watching out for danger, but not getting any sleep. At least no one had really been hurt. He'd hesitated at going to Haru's, but the man had invited him and he felt bad not going. Plus, and it hurt him to admit it, but he wanted to see the man.

When he got to the pod, he knocked on the door, looking through the glass and catching a glimpse of his reflection in it. He tried to smooth his hair, make it look less like he'd been running his hands through it and adjusted the bag on his shoulder. At least the the dark blue scrubs he had on didn't look as wrinkled as he felt.

I've put together go packs for you with basic supplies, they're at the hospital, nurses' station. If you're on the move, it's good to have with you. I'm headed to the Nest to try and be of more use there in case the power goes out.
