By the time all the decorations were up, the park had been transformed into a piece of Bourbon Street, complete with crowds of people looking to party. Lights were strung between the trees with the occasional banner indicating a drink stand or a food cart, adding to the atmosphere. There was even a dance floor in one corner with music piped in from unseen speakers. The only things missing were the balconies to throw beads from, but that didn’t stop beads from being handed out or the occasional flash to earn them. It was as close to New Orleans as they were going to get, but they didn’t need the parades to make it a party.

MABEL alerts all citizens of New Eden that for one night only, there will be a casino in the town center. One of the larger bars has been entirely converted, red carpet running through the front doors, welcoming people inside. Bright lights, loud music - the works.

Run entirely by robots, it looks like something straight out of Vegas. Everything from gaudy slot machines, to high end blackjack and roulette tables. There is even a show playing throughout the night in one of the back rooms. It's really quite something.

One good thing about having a girlfriend - and admittedly there were a lot of good things with this particular lady - was having someone to turn to when he needed help with something he had no experience doing. Like decorating a Christmas tree. Normally it wasn’t a thing with which Patrick would have bothered, but it didn’t seem fair to Darcy to let the holiday go by without any decorations. So he’d asked Syn to help him select ornaments, lights and all that good stuff for the medium-sized tree he’d brought back to the pod. There was honestly no telling what he would have ended up with if he hadn’t had company picking it all out.

The pod felt more festive already with lights strung on the tree. “It’s been years since I had a Christmas tree,” he remarked as he sat on the floor near it putting ornament hangers on the ornaments.

Riven knocked on Darcy's door, a box of pizza in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. She normally wasn't a wine drinker, but she'd had some of this brand at the Thanksgiving dinner and found it enjoyable. Sweet, but not syrupy. And she felt like Darcy deserved wine for dealing with wishy-washy boys. And pizza. And probably chocolate, but Riven only had two hands.

Dean took a breath and steadied himself. It was just coffee, but still, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he should be more excited about this whole thing. He had an actual date. That had happened embarrassingly few times in his life - even fewer if you went for ‘second date’.

And Darcy was nice. She was sweet. She was pretty. There was… nothing wrong with her.

Riven stepped out of the dressing room to examine herself in the full length mirror, under better lighting. The dress she had on was short and green, a color she rarely wore and wasn't entirely sure she could pull off. She pulled her hair off her neck and pushed up on her toes, trying to imagine it with heels. That helped a bit, but she really shouldn't wear bright red lipstick if she wore the dress, which would be fine, so long as she found a suitable alternative. But she still wasn't sure, and turned to the closest person she could find that wasn't a robot. "Does this look okay? I'm not sure I can do green, but I feel like I should own something that's not black."

I have like 100 boy questions and no other friends.

The guy I went on the date with messaged me and I asked him out again and he said yes? But he seemed like he hesitated? and then...I dunno he says he's busy and can't hang out right away, but that he's not blowing me off.

Her black mini dress with the midriff cut out might not have been super appropriate given her age, but Darcy wanted to look nice for her date. And neither Patrick or Eily saw her leave, so it was all well and good. It was a date after all wasn’t it? Why not look nice?


She was a little late, but that sort of fashionable five minutes that she was sure was completely forgiven with a cute smile and looking as nice as she did. The robots showed her to the table, a neatly set up like something out of a movie and she flashed her date a grin, pushing her hair over one shoulder. “Sorry I’m late!” she said in a rush, like she hadn’t planned it at all.
