Stop the Noise

Who: Riven and open to Annie & Lian
Where: Heron

Riven groaned as the alarm sounded, pulling a pillow over her head in hopes that it would drown out the noise. She'd had a bit too much to drink last night, but wasn't quite hungover, though the alarm would quickly give her a headache if nothing else. When it kept going after a minute, she rolled out of bed, shuffling towards the door to see what the problem was. The flashing lights gave no indication, but it looked like they were everywhere, not just in her pod.

She stood there, blinking sleepily, hoping the alarms would stop so they could all go back to sleep, when she noticed the robots banging on another pod in her group. Riven frowned, walking closer, looking around as she went to see if anyone else was awake. Lights were turning on inside the other pods, but she was the first to the robots. "Hey," she said, reaching out to pull one away by the arm. "Stop that."

The next thing she knew, she was on the ground, the robot staring at her with red eyes before it went back to attacking the pod. Riven cursed quietly, trying to decide what to do next.

Who: Micah and OPEN
Setting: bench outside the hospital

Micah had to walk away. He couldn't keep going back and forth with Haru. He couldn't keep expecting more from someone who didn't want to give it. So he left the hospital, telling the nurse behind the counter to page him if something came up, though he guessed he could get thirty minutes or more to himself if he needed it. He'd grabbed a cup of coffee from the vending machine that seemed out of another decade, then taken it outside to get some fresh air.

It wasn't really fresh though was it? Micah looked up at the ceiling/sky thing and felt it crushing down on him. He'd made a mistake, he really had, and Haru, fuck what he'd said. Micah had to believe it. He'd patched up Lian's neck. He'd seen how the woman reacted to him, to his offers to help. That had to be a sign. It had to be the truth. Why would Haru lie about something so horrible? Why was Micah trying to justify it?

He took another sip of his coffee and leaned forward, elbows on his knees. What he needed was answers. Advice even. And maybe a less stressful night's sleep.

One Person's Sanctuary

Who: Lian and Haru
Where: The Central Park; evening

Lian had made it to her pod and lasted there for a good hour, tearing through every nook and cranny to ensure that no one was lying in wait for her. When she was reasonably satisfied that no one was going to murder her in her sleep, Lian decided to explore her surroundings a bit more. The flickering lights weren't going to keep her away.

She'd suited up with a few more of her items, donning a locket ring for nearly every finger and each filled with a different powder, and doubling the simple metal hair pins that held her bun up. Enough that if she were to get into a scrap, she'd have something to defend herself with. And then she was back out of the pod in search of what this place actually was.

She'd made it all the way to the park before she decided to take a break. Sitting on top of a nearby picnic table, she looked up toward the ceiling and exhaled. "What am I doing here..."

on the track but going nowhere

Who: Syn and OPEN
Setting: on the monorail track, since the power cut and the monorail shut down before it got to the station

When the monorail stopped, Syn didn't know what to do with herself. She waited a good twenty minutes for it to start up again, but after that, it seemed clear to her that it wasn't actually going to kick back up. After investigating, she saw there was a walkway, or what looked like one, out there, and she got off the dead train to start walking.

She didn't know where the hell she was going, and that was a whole lot of not okay. She was in a strange place, it was dark with only muted light from above - what the hell had she signed on for? She didn't even hear a lot of activity in the giant dome.

She brought out her phone only to discover there were no bars, but she turned the flashlight mode on to light her way better, and she hoped she ran into someone soon. Anyone, even. Normally she wasn't exaclty miss social, but in this case, she was pretty desperate to see another human being. She even did something she never did - call for help. "Hello?" she shouted. "Is anyone there?"
