Adam spent his time with Kyle, with Riley, but once he was rested he made sure someone was looking after Riley and got to work. It should have been surprising, but he did manage to find a tool box in a shed near one of the rides. It had just about everything he could want, minus a handsaw, but he could make do with what he had. Then he went looking for Tris, setting the tool box in front of him.

“Take that. I need your help.” He nodded away from the restaurant, back towards the monorail.

Adam was exhausted, but that hardly mattered. What mattered was getting to his boys. He followed Blake, assuming everyone would be together and he left Blake with Ethan outside, pushing into the place looking around until he heard a shout. “Dad!”

He'd barely turned towards it before Riley smacked into the side of him, arms around his knees. Adam ducked to scoop Riley up, holding him against him tightly. “I'm here, bud,” he promised. “Came to get you.”

Blake didn’t like the idea of people being stuck on top. Especially Ethan. Or people being stuck below. And he not be able to immediately get to Ethan. The message from Tris had him worried, but having talked to Ethan, it seemed as if all was at least okay...at least no one was seriously hurt and Ethan and Christian were fine. Anyway, he thought Christian was fine.

He’d grabbed a couple of bags from the station, they would have most everything the two would need to climb plus waters and limited medical gear. He then raced to the pod he shared with Ethan and grabbed the Xanax Ethan had said to grab, and then was on his way to the monorail station to meet up with Tris.

If you're stuck up top, a few of us have set up camp in the little restaurant next to the funhouse. We've got food, water, bathrooms, a first aid kit, and some souvenir blankets from the gift shop. Is everyone okay?

Setting: The spa, just before the party

Adam had done as instructed, at least after the gym. He’d followed Cillian to the sauna, but didn’t quite get the idea of being hot for no reason and eventually ducked off to get the massage he’d been signed up for. That, he got the appeal of and sunk into a very relaxed state by the time it was over. He was still in the cut off t-shirt, but yanking on a hoodie to cover the tattoo on the inside of his arm as he arrived at the daycare type thing they’d had set up for kids. There was a pool party after and Adam didn’t want Riley to miss it, sure he’d enjoy splashing around in the water.

Kyle had been waiting for Adam, wanting to catch him before he collected Riley. He didn’t want to do this in front of the kid. It just wasn’t an appropriate conversation. “Hey,” he said as he saw Adam approach. He smiled a little, catching his lower lip between his teeth, nervously. “Any chance you could put off…” he gestured toward the daycare. “Just for a little while. We kinda… we need to talk.” Which was never a good way of putting things, but there really was no good way of saying that. Even when it wasn’t intended to be something bad.

Setting: Spa, gym

Adam had given Kyle a lot of looks on the way to the spa, but somehow he was still there. Nonetheless, he managed to get away a little bit, heading down to the gym. That was more his style at least. He finished off another set, not a huge weight, but enough to show off the muscles he was actually exposing for the first time. Normally he’d be in huge shirts, but today he was in just a cut of t-shirt and a pair of gym shorts.

Cillian wasn’t sure what he was to do with himself at a spa, but a gym was familiar grounds to him. He figured he’d start there and then see what else there was. When he spotted Adam, he smiled and started over towards him, making an attempt not to check him out for once. Which was hard, considering. He looked good. And really should wear clothes that fit him. But Cillian wasn’t about to bring that up. “Hey,” he smiled. “How’s it going?”

As MABEL promised, from midafternoon, a party begins by the outdoor pool in the spa zone. A robot-manned grill fires up cooking steaks, burgers, ribs, corn etc and alongside are the usual accompaniments. There is also a fully stocked bar. The music is upbeat and the whole area is lit beautifully with tiny, multi-colored lights. It also feels warmer than New Eden usually does - definitely the kind of weather for hanging out in not very much.

The party is going until late into the night.

There is a grand and spectacular fireworks display at 10pm.

By the time all the decorations were up, the park had been transformed into a piece of Bourbon Street, complete with crowds of people looking to party. Lights were strung between the trees with the occasional banner indicating a drink stand or a food cart, adding to the atmosphere. There was even a dance floor in one corner with music piped in from unseen speakers. The only things missing were the balconies to throw beads from, but that didn’t stop beads from being handed out or the occasional flash to earn them. It was as close to New Orleans as they were going to get, but they didn’t need the parades to make it a party.

Adam had spent the morning after Riley went to school, cleaning up the mess and dropping off the thank you note he’d had Riley draw for Kyle, thankfully to an empty pod. With nothing else to do, Adam took himself over towards Cillian’s, not sure where else to go and hoping that Cillian maybe needed some help with the party or something. Anything to distract him. He knocked, looking in, worried he might be interrupting, but he could always leave.

Kyle only had two parcels of rocky road left when he got to Adam’s house. So far, all of his gifts had been just left on the doorstep, but Kyle had a soft spot. He couldn’t just leave Riley’s gift for him to find, he wanted to give it in person.

Wicker basket looped over one arm, Kyle knocked on the door to Adam’s pod, peering inside the dome to see if he could see the pair inside.

Riley was coloring in the living room while Adam worked at making sandwiches for lunch, trying his best to do the whole parent thing without messing anyone up outright. He looked up at the knock, laughing at the way Riley ran for the door, already waving at Kyle through the glass. He pushed at the door to let Kyle in, grinning up at him.

Christmas had exploded in in Cillian's pod. He had a large tree setup in the center, covered in lights and ornaments and topped with a star. There was a full buffet, plus a bar stocked with spiked eggnog, mulled wine, and cider. He'd put together a gingerbread house station so that people could decorate pre-baked houses, complete with all kinds of candy, chocolate, and icing. All throughout the pod he had Christmas music playing and when he wasn't in conversation with someone he found himself singing along. It was perfect, and hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves, even if they'd rather be home with their families.

I was thinking of having a Christmas party on Christmas, since a lot of us don't have family here in New Eden. Would ya'll be interested? I was thinking a come and go thing, maybe with a white elephant gift exchange, but really just a festive way to hang out with friends. And friends of friends.

I could also open it up to anyone in the nest, but I've never hosted a party that big before. I've never even hosted a small party before. But I thought it'd be fun! Thoughts?

Riley had demanded a piggyback ride to the store and then wanted to ride in the cart that Adam had gotten, but once they were in the aisle for the art supplies, he stopped by so demanding and switched to curious. It had been years since Adam had listened to Kyle's stories, since he'd had the paper napkins covered in doodles, all of which were sadly lost in the turmoil of his life, but as he paced the aisle, he managed to find a few things that seemed familiar.

Hey everybody. For those I don't know, I'm Zalan, the new chef at Noms. We're doing something different at Noms this Thursday for Thanksgiving. The whole menu is going to be Thanksgiving dinner, and it will all be person-made, by me. Nothing against robot cooking, but I don't think Thanksgiving should be done that way. There will be turkey, a few types of potatoes, stuffing, cranberry relish, some vegetable side dishes, and pumpkin pie. Feel free to make specific requests and I'll do my best to oblige.

The place will be decorated up for the day and the football games will be on the screens, so you won't miss that either. Please come and bring your family and friends. Looking forward to seeing you there!
