New Eden - City of Tomorrow!

I love these sort of things. Here are my results! (though it sounds more like I'm dating myself! Hah!)

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Dean Conway and I have been tasked with ensuring the architectural stability of the city. Which is a flowery way of saying that I've been brought here to make sure that it stays standing.

Given that New Eden seems to have been constructed to a far higher spec than most modern cities, I don't think that is going to be much of an issue, but there are a couple of things that I want to bring up.

Firstly, after the somewhat unexpected robot attack the other day, if people have damage to their pods, could they let me know and I'll ensure that everything is fixed.

Secondly, I'm looking for volunteers to help me on an exploratory mission - I want to go down from the islands (main and residential) to investigate how they're held up from the lake below. I'm looking for people with useful skills - climbing, abseiling, construction - we will be going over the side and I don't have the time or the skill set myself to be able to teach people unless it's absolutely necessary. I would also prefer this to be a manned expedition. I do not want to be reliant on robot assistance for this. We need to know what's down there.

The blaring was one thing. That was one cruel awful thing, that had Harley tugging at her face mask, glaring at the world around her and holding her hands over her ears. She scrambled out of the bed, grabbing a sheet with her and stumbled down the stairs. Was it a fire alarm? Maybe. Nothing seemed to be on fire. She headed for the door though, pulling the sheet tighter around her, covering up what wasn't covered by the tiny camisole and underwear, ready to make her escape.

At least until she got to the door. A robot was there, banging on the glass, eyes glowing red, panel that normally showed information a fractured static fuzz. At first she thought it was there to alert her, let her know she needed to evacuate, but its robot hand broke through the glass, leaving shattered bits inside her dome, bouncing towards her legs. "What the..."

The robot pulled back and banged again, harder this time, busting in another piece. She backed away, trying to get to a safer spot, but as she turned, another robot was there, banging on the glass at another point of her pod. The a third. Glass shattered somewhere else and Harley screamed.

Ethan had gone all out for the party, with the help of some all too friendly robots. One was manning a bar in his kitchen, pouring strong cocktails and beers, another was in charge of music. The whole pod was decorated in hanging exposed bulbs, golds and silvers, banners and bunting. It hardly looked like one of the pods that everyone lived in. There were signs stuck in the grass on the way in, with easy riddles for the password and guests expected to knock and give the password to whoever opened the door.

Sure, the thing was a bit weird, but Ryker didn't care in the slightest. Exodus was fully stocked, the lights dimmed just right, and his DJ stand was set up perfectly. He kind of like the feel of the charm bracelet on his wrist, pleased with the subway token and DJ equipment charms he'd been given. He almost didn't want to give them away.

One song rolled into another, the deep bass came out of the speakers and subs in a way that he could feel in his bones, even if he was only listening in the headphones he was wearing. Required attendance or not, he was determined to make sure at least people had a soundtrack for a good time.

YOU ARE INVITED! Please attend the barbecue block party, located in the center of the Nest, for all Nest residents! Food, fun and games! It will be going on all day, with festivities at night as well!

All citizens get the announcement on their wrist communicator. The center park has been decked out with grills, picnic baskets, etc. There are robot party clowns around, a few stray robot dogs, etc. There's music playing, and different stations to play some simple carnival games. There are prizes as well for the winners, including stuffed animals of varying sizes, coupons for the various businesses in New Eden and other trinkets.

Drinks are flowing very freely as well, with free beer being the main attraction.

It had taken a touch longer than Ethan would have liked to set up the party, but he found that he found a cart and drug everything he needed with him. Then he set the whole thing up, a bar mostly set up on the table off to one side, a couple of coolers with other options, and even some snacks. The pool was great, glittering fake sun that still felt warm against his skin and and clear water. He’d hoped to find more in the way of floats, but after digging around in a closet near the pool - there wasn’t anyone to stop him since most of the attendants were robots - he had found a few pool noodles and training boards. He’d tossed those in too and then found a way to start up the music.

It took half an hour, but by the time he was settling on a chair with a drink, he was pleased with the pleasant lull of music and the comfort of his lounge chair. His trunks were made to be looked at, red and hanging low enough to show off the edge of where his tan ended if he moved the right way. It might have only been spring, but spending two weeks in the Caribbean when it got oddly cold in New York in April had been a smart idea on his part. All in all, perfect pool party. The place they were at was weird, but Ethan was determined to enjoy himself.
