I keep getting emails about signing up for this network and I'm officially giving in, just to make them stop. Not that they were all kinds of incessant or anything, but there was no unsubscribe button and it would be tragic if they kept cluttering up my inbox and I missed all my other important emails, like coupons for Red Lobster (not sure when I was last at a Red Lobster, but okay?) or Steam trying to coerce me into buying whatever game I forgot was on my wishlist is suddenly on sale.

I've been taking night classes every semester- even summers and winter half terms- since I was offered a (once in a lifetime) full time job with SI halfway through my junior year at University of Dunhaven. I thought for sure that I'd end up graduating at least a year (if not more) behind the rest of my peers because of it, but, somehow, I just got notice that I'll be able to walk after this year's spring term. Right on time.

Hello, friends! With it being two weeks into 2020, I've been working pretty steadily on my planner and getting all of my exciting dates for the new year sorted out. I like having things to look forward to, especially since I'm packing my last semester of undergrad full of credits, and one of those things I'm looking forward to is this five year anniversary that I will be celebrating in March. Thinking about it has me all full of warm fuzzies and since it's been a while since I did one of these open forum sort of things, now seems like a good time.

So, here's my question! What is your meet cute? AKA how did you meet your partner? Give me all of the heart eyes with your stories, please and thank you.

So after Nutcracker tonight, I asked this girl someone I Thabisa a person if they'd come with me to the Salazar shindig tomorrow night.

Friendly reminder that with the holiday seasons comes parties and drinking more - this time of year has the highest number of drunk driving incidents.

Starting next week, Lyft drivers in Dunhaven are offering free rides from 10pm-4am until Jan 1st, to help combat it. I am also available, to anyone in Dunhaven, that needs a ride. I really don't want to take you in via patrol car, so please just [call me] instead. I will happily get my ass out of bed at 2am for any of you if you need a ride.

So, be safe, know that there's options, and don't risk it.


I'm working this weekend at the ice rink when it opens, so feel free to come say hi if you come out. Should be a fun time. (And if you really like me, the occasional delivery of hot cocoa is welcome.)

So get yourself over to Calm Waters this weekend and join me for a good six hour trek out on the water, pullin up plenty of sea bass, bluefish, and if we get lucky maybe even a tautog. Now, throwback rules are gonna apply, but this weekend looks to be high 40s, sunny and clear, before a cold weekend and some freezin rain next week and I sure as hell want to beat that. Bet you do, too.

5am Saturday, for anybody who's in. Bring a coat and a hat. I'll supply rods and bait, show you what a Waters Boat can really do for your love of fish.

I have always lived in relatively large cities -- St. Louis for eighteen years, then Chicago for nearly ten. (Please don't do that math. I'm in denial over leaving my mid-twenties.) I've now been in this small town for about a month and here are my observations.

1. Two neighbors have come over in the span of the last three hours to bring me a casserole and a pie.
2. I got to explain to both of them that the man I live with is my brother and not some variation of a life partner (gross). One of them proceded to very casually (aka not at all casually) slip into conversation that they have a single grandson. The other let me know that they have a single daughter, in case my brother is single. (Gabe, I'm preparing your dowry as I type.)
3. All of these things happened while I was in pajamas.
4. The Dreamery has amazing ice cream and I keep eating it.

I realize that 3/4 of these observations happened only today, but I feel as though the encapsulate just how incredibly different living in this town is compared to anywhere else I've lived. I didn't even know the names of my neighbors in my building in Chicago. Now I not only know the names of neighbors down the block, but I know which of their family members are being sold off to newcomers. I also know that people really love putting walnuts in brownies around here, because today's casserole and pie are only the tip of the iceburg of food that we've collected since officially moving in. I should probably stop getting takeout and actually eating some of this so we have room in the freezer for the pints of ice cream I keep buying.

That said, Dunhaven has been lovely and I'm still a little bit in love.
