I really often wonder where people get their ideas from, because I stumbled upon a everyone has a bone that matches their personality quiz.

Exciting news - my senior art students will be showcasing their final projects at the end of next month! You’ll be able to find us at Picasso Art Gallery, May 31st. More details to come, but I couldn’t keep it in any longer. This is one of the best parts of this job, getting to treat the kids to something special and let them show off all their hard work.

Are we ignoring it? Do we want to talk about it? I’m good continuing to pretend it isn’t happening, but I didn’t want either of you to think I was ignoring you if you wanted to talk. So I thought I’d ask how we want to go about this.

So, anyone else sick of dream related emotional roller coasters? Everyone? Okay, just checking.

Prom is in a month and, during our weekly staff meeting today, I was given the dubious honor of chaperone. I've been told it has nothing to do with my being a new teacher, but go ahead and picture my most skeptical face here. I'm not really complaining, though, despite that it occurs to me now how weird it's going to be to go to an event like that as a certified grown up after having attended three of the exact same dance in the exact same space as a teenager. If my younger self knew that I would one day be the person making sure the punch didn't get spiked and the dancing didn't get supremely dirty or full of make outs, she'd probably be disappointed in me.

Not that I was spiking punch bowls or dancing dirty or making out at prom as a teenager. I was a good kid, okay. Just ask my mom. 😉

My own dreams have made me particularly introspective recently, so I decided it's time for another anonymous post. This one isn't for any academic purpose (though each post is inherently good data for academic purposes despite their individual intentions), but it seems that a lot of us have found them cathartic. So, as usual, feel free to comment below--you will be anonymous unless you choose to be unmasked.

What lesson(s) have you learned from yourself the person you've been dreaming about?

My greatest lesson has been learning to truly value the people in my life who care about me. I already did, but there's something to be said for consciously recognizing that value each time I think of them.

Has anyone else had embarrassing moments they can only explain by the presence of these dreams, or whatever you want to call them?

For example, this morning when I ordered my coffee at Java Chip, I ordered in Khuzdul.

At the risk of sounding like my mother, the colors are starting and that makes me so very happy. The trees in the backyard are going this beautiful yellow and I can't wait for the oranges and reds to dot in there. I'm less excited for when they fall and I have to break out the rake.

Do you think we could swing a mini vacation? Just a long weekend somewhere? [...] I feel like I need a recharge.

A few years ago, I wouldn’t have thought I’d be where I am now. Business is growing enough that I’ll be able to branch off on my own, I convinced someone to marry me... hell, even just a year ago I wouldn’t have been able to picture this. I’d met Violet by then, but I didn’t think we’d be here already. It’s wild, how much can change in such a short time.

Happy two months & two days, V. My life is brighter with you in it. And I’m really glad I didn’t call the cops on you the day we met.

This may, in fact, be the single most mad thing I've ever done in my life. And yet, we all seem to be going through something together here, so I'm going to take a chance.

It occurred to me the other day that I'm just shy of having been in Dunhaven for a year. It's a bit of a mind boggling thought, because it really feels like I've been here much longer. I might not have grown up and been educated all that far from town in the grand scheme of things, but this town is so much different than growing up right in the DC Metro area or spending much of my 20s in Baltimore. Size aside, it's a special sort of place and I'm glad I made the fairly random decision to relocate here. I've met some wonderful people and being here let me reconnect with my favorite of them all, so I consider myself pretty lucky.

Here's to many more lucky years in this little town.
