What are some of your favorite places to travel? Or, if you're not-so-widely-traveled (like me), what are some places you'd love to go?

I don't know if you knew this, Dunhaven, but today is apparently National Spouse's Day. I didn't know this was a thing, probably because I am behind on most things thanks to things like Homework and Reading and Wanting To Be A Doctor. However, if there is one thing that I can get behind, it's a holiday that celebrates spouses. And while every day might be Appreciate Your Spouse Day in the McKinnon household, I'm all here for sprinkling on a little extra love and attention to mine.

Because, I don't know if you knew this, but my husband is amazing. He's smart and he's funny and he's talented beyond all reason, but he's also kind and compassionate and the best sort human that any human could strive to be. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have not only caught his attention when we were fourteen-year-old nerds, but that he still loves me so entirely now that we're 22-year-old nerds. Getting married at 18 might not be the right choice for everyone, but it certainly was for us and I'm happy every day that we were impulsive.

SO anyway. I love you, Miles. 🤟🏾

Okay, now everyone go off and appreciate their spouses, too. Or your significant others. Or your pets. Or your friendly local pizza delivery guy. I don't know, just spread the love because the world can't have enough of that, as far as I'm concerned.

OH MY GOD

I just came home for lunch between classes, because that's how I do things, and I checked the mail and oh. My. GOD. I had mail waiting for me from the USCIS which normally wouldn't be awesome, but I have been waiting for what feels like forever to receive this particular piece of mail. Because after establishing my residency while on a green card via my marriage that had to be proven not to be suspicious, paying all the money, going through interviews, tests, and so much paperwork -- I, Naomi Shirin McKinnon, am officially going to be a resident of this place that I've basically lived in since I was 14.

Since we couldn't make it back to Toronto because of school being school, my brother funded a Thanksgiving meal, apparently under the assumption that I know how to cook a turkey. It's always so nice when your family shows you just how much they support you in all ways.
