Spring means:

1) New cocktails at Pourhouse (well, those have been out since March, but they're so good that it's worth mentioning all the time)
2) Roadtrips on my motorcycle (today's was down to Williamsburg for a craft beer festival - cheers!) (although, tbh, kind of regretting this decision after yesterday's derby match, I am going to feel it hard tomorrow)
3) okay, that's all I've got, now it's your turn.

I'm not sure I wanted to, but I figured out where my dreams are coming from.

My own dreams have made me particularly introspective recently, so I decided it's time for another anonymous post. This one isn't for any academic purpose (though each post is inherently good data for academic purposes despite their individual intentions), but it seems that a lot of us have found them cathartic. So, as usual, feel free to comment below--you will be anonymous unless you choose to be unmasked.

What lesson(s) have you learned from yourself the person you've been dreaming about?

My greatest lesson has been learning to truly value the people in my life who care about me. I already did, but there's something to be said for consciously recognizing that value each time I think of them.

FRIENDS & FAMILY:

I don't know how I'm going to make it through the next two+ months of waiting and waiting and waiting some more until grad school applications get processed. I've been checking my status obsessively even though I know it's too early, and I don't know how to stop. What if Send help in the form of distractions!!!

Ah, the holiday season. When relatives you see maybe once a year only know how to ask a variation on these questions, but nothing else because they don’t actually care about your life at all:

1) Do you have a boyfriend/when are you getting married?

And

2) When are you having kids?

Happy Small Business Saturday! I hope you all didn’t blow all your money at big retailers yesterday and can still get out there and support our local economy, etc etc, but make sure you have a little extra leftover to come have one of the drinks off our seasonal menu. I gotta say, I think I have the most fun coming up with new twists on the holiday classics. Plus, we’ve got some cool stouts and porters on tap, too, like a chocolate peanut butter stout. I promise it’s really good.

I also have a wall of thankfulness up at the bar to remind us of the good things we’re fighting for every day, to keep us motivated when the world is bleak or on fire. Or, you know, just things to make us smile. My favorite is: I’m thankful that my boyfriend didn’t make me run a 5K this year. (That’s mine.)

The holiday might have been yesterday, but I'm stuck in the backseat of this car for five hours today. So tell me what you're thankful for, Dunhaven. It can be silly, it can be sassy, or it can be downright sappy. I want to hear about it.

Do you ever read an article and just laugh and laugh about a turn of phrase, and how it even got published that way at all?

You're Totally Going to Bone in Self-Driving Cars, Scientists Predict. Most of it's about some study about how self-driving cars are going to impact tourism industries like hotels, restaurants and prostitution, but then you get to the end: "But whether people are going to fuck in them feels like less of a question and more of an inevitability. Of course, that would require you to first choose to trust the machines. Unless the fear turns you on."

Has this person ever done anything risky at all? Ridden a roller coaster? Come on. It doesn't take a genius to know that the adrenaline rush is going to be a huge draw.

Dear Lucy,

Karma kicked me right in the ass for all that shit-talking I was doing yesterday. I got suckered in by the Christmas display at Bath & Body Works today. I don't even like Bath & Body Works! What is happening to me? I have betrayed Halloween. I don't deserve these fun drinks I made up. :(

I bet you all were thinking, "Oh, good. Charlie is going to stop asking random questions about our dream lives because it's an uncomfortable and awkward topic most of the time." HA HA. No, not quite. I'm too curious for my own good and I think, eventually, all of this information will be of use to us. So here's the next topic for discussion for all you second-life dreamers out there!

What is the best part about your dream life? What is the worst?

In the spirit of the holiday (and because I had a lot of time on my hands), the drink menu tomorrow has a distinct... pirate-y flare.

We'll have my take on grog, which is absolutely one of a kind, and a handful of other rum-based cocktails with cool names that I'll only reveal if you show up to the bar.



That's also where I'm breaking out my pirate talk, so don't ask. I have to practice first.
