When I said, "I want to stay home all weekend," I didn't mean, "I want to stay in bed sick all weekend."

All I wanted was a nice, relaxing weekend in my pj's to read and watch movies with my favorite person and favorite fur-son. It looks like it's chicken soup instead of Chinese take out, and lots of sleep.

Remember people: wash your hands like surgeons, don't touch your face, take vitamins. Viruses suck.

As glad as I am to be back at school because I love being in the classroom, the unexpected snow day was honestly the best. Except now I keep getting the following conversation, to varying degrees:

Student: Ms. Hondo, if we get snowed out tomorrow, do we have to turn in the homework?
Me: I don't think we have to worry about that. It's supposed to be relatively warm.
Student: That's what they said when we got over a foot of snow.
Me: ... Do your homework.

And I can't even argue that.

I wouldn't say no to another snow day, for the record.

I'm sorry I haven't been checking in enough recently. I'm a terrible friend. How are you both doing? We should get together. I can make dinner!

This is the first birthday I've celebrated in a long time where I have not only been stateside for it, but I'm home. Not to get too sentimental, but I believe I've earned it after all this time -- being woken this morning by my girls squealing and jumping on my bed might just have been the best birthday gift I could have ever asked for. It's a pretty good start to being 33.

Thanks to Naomi's brilliant idea, I'm going to put together a resource accessible to anyone dealing with the Dreams that essentially just lists who is being dreamed of and any other pertinent details you might think need to be included for others to identify that they're at least sharing dreams about the world even if they don't know the name. For example, it might look like:

Just leave a note here, anonymously or not, letting me know the name of who you are dreaming about and anything else you want to mention. The girls and I had so much fun doing the Scavenger Hunt today! We very much did not win, and Hana mostly found everything except what we were looking for, but it was a really good time and Emi learned a lot. We should do these more than once per year!

As I'm sitting here preparing for the first day of school, I find myself distracted by a very important question: would it be more exciting teaching at Hogwarts, or more exasperating? I feel like it would be a little bit of both, and I suddenly have much more respect and admiration for certain individuals than I already had before.

TOBIAS

I was thinking [...] maybe it would be nice if you got the first day of school experience with Emi, if you want it. I love being a part of it, but I also want to share it with you, so if you wanted to have the girls the night before and morning of [...] I know Emi would love it.

In case you didn't already know, today is the most special of days because, on this day many years ago, the one and only Everett Marshall was born. Since they have yet to acknowledge my petition to make the celebration of his birth a national holiday, I'm taking it upon myself to invite all of you Dunhavenians to help me honor this wonderful, beautiful, compassionate, and all-around standup guy by coming in to Stella's today for one of two specials.

The first is the #boyfriend which is two liege waffles topped with Nutella, fresh berries, whipped cream, cookie butter, and chocolate drizzle.

The second is the Birthday Babe which is a large waffle boat with birthday cake, two large scoops of whipped cream, strawberry and chocolate drizzle, chopped pecans, celebratory sprinkles, and two cherries on top.

Better yet, 100% of profits from these two specials will be donated to Voices for Virginia's Kids in Everett's name. ❤️
