Look at that. I was taught today how to use a filter by one of my students before class. I think that my students may or may not be planning to try to make Ms. Liang hip and cool. I'm pretty sure it's a whole movement that I'm not supposed to know about.

Anyway, now I know how to do them. (I tried to do the dog ears one, but I couldn't get it to work. Pretty sure that I shouldn't have admitted that and might have lost most of my cool credits.) Is this yeeting? Am I allowed to dab now? Some other joke about Tide pods?

I woke up this morning with the realization that there will be a wedding that I'm very much a part of in exactly two months to the day. I then proceeded to panic for about three seconds, then remembered that I'm Lucy Lyon-almost-Nikolaev and if my day-to-day life has taught me anything, I sure as hell can plan a wedding without a meltdown. So the panic abated, for now. I might need to come back to this in a few weeks for another pep talk.

In the meantime, though, I get to look forward to the knowledge that I get to see my dress on Saturday for the first time since I said yes to it months ago. Oh, that gives me a heavy dose of feelings.

Well, this took a hard turn to sappiness. If the me of two years ago could see me now. (She wouldn't have believed it.)

Okay, it has been nearly a week of me ignoring the drives and tendencies that come with a lifetime of being an older sister and I can't do it anymore. Please note that I really did try, but the need to be nosy has grown to be too much and I can't do it anymore. It's out of my hands, really.

All that being said: she's very cute, Xing. 😏

I still know nothing about fashion, but I do know that this is fantastic.

Seriously considering setting up a cot in my classroom if the a/c isn't back up and running by the end of the school day.

I have become too reliant upon modern convenience and not sweating.

This summer was a very good one, but I have to admit that there's something comforting about being back in a routine. This was day one of classes and I'm sure I'll take it all back come around day four (so, you know, Thursday) when I start missing near daily waffles with my #1 and wearing pajamas until noon, but today I'm good with it.

In case you didn't already know, today is the most special of days because, on this day many years ago, the one and only Everett Marshall was born. Since they have yet to acknowledge my petition to make the celebration of his birth a national holiday, I'm taking it upon myself to invite all of you Dunhavenians to help me honor this wonderful, beautiful, compassionate, and all-around standup guy by coming in to Stella's today for one of two specials.

The first is the #boyfriend which is two liege waffles topped with Nutella, fresh berries, whipped cream, cookie butter, and chocolate drizzle.

The second is the Birthday Babe which is a large waffle boat with birthday cake, two large scoops of whipped cream, strawberry and chocolate drizzle, chopped pecans, celebratory sprinkles, and two cherries on top.

Better yet, 100% of profits from these two specials will be donated to Voices for Virginia's Kids in Everett's name. ❤️

I forgot to mention that Lua is really used to getting a treat first thing in the morning, because she always gives me that look when I first wake up so if she sort of just paced around and was generally irritable this morning, it was probably because she was expecting you to give her a treat before breakfast.
