Hello, friends! With it being two weeks into 2020, I've been working pretty steadily on my planner and getting all of my exciting dates for the new year sorted out. I like having things to look forward to, especially since I'm packing my last semester of undergrad full of credits, and one of those things I'm looking forward to is this five year anniversary that I will be celebrating in March. Thinking about it has me all full of warm fuzzies and since it's been a while since I did one of these open forum sort of things, now seems like a good time.

Hey, so I've got some news. Now that I have talked to my parents and siblings about it, I figure it's a good time to let everyone else know.

Long story short, a girl came into town a week ago looking for me, because she thought I was her father. Her name is Nadia Travers, though she also goes by Jessie, and she's 20 and was raised in Las Vegas by her mother, who I knew very briefly during a vacation back, well, about twenty years ago. And, yeah, we've confirmed that she's definitely mine.

Just to head some questions off at the pass: I'm doing fine. I've mostly gotten past the shock and am just trying to move forward with the knowledge. She's also seeming to be doing all right. She is planning on staying in town, which I'm glad for as I have a lot of time to make up for. But since she'll be here, I'd love it if any of you who might be around her age would be willing to reach out to her and give her some friends and connections in town. She's only been here a week and it's been a pretty busy one, but I think it would do her well to have a solid support system.

Do you ever have those days when everything just feels [...] good? Because I'm having one of those days.

It is my absolute pleasure to announce that the newly minted Dunhaven Zoo & Rehabilitation Center will be reopening on October 3 to kick off our first annual Halloween at the Zoo season. Each weekend, including Thursdays, in October through November 3, we will be hosting a kid- and family-friendly Halloween party with the animals here at our zoo from 5pm-9pm. There will be lots of local vendors stationed throughout the area with treats for everyone and the zoo itself will be transformed into a festive and charmingly spooky park. Meet princesses and other storybook characters, or swap spooky stories with our friendly ghosts. Costumes are encouraged and kids are not required! All kids at heart are welcome. 🎃💀🎉😊

Would anyone like to come and finish unpacking my apartment for me? I am really bad at focusing long enough to get it done and it doesn't really matter where you put anything because I'd forget where I put it in a week, anyway. Things just sort of get put wherever they fit and then wind up wherever they're last used. I'm an organizer's worst nightmare.

I'm mostly joking about the help, but if someone wants to take it seriously I'm not sure I'd actually turn anyone away at this point. I'm currently living in a cardboard jungle.

A few months ago I posted a lovey-dovey video that one of my classmates put together for our psych class with a bunch of married couples talking about when they knew they were in love with their partner. She did another one, this time just for fun, with some other footage from when she did the interviews and she sent it my way because my grandparents are in it (57 years). This time they talk about first kisses, which is all very sweet and can be seen here.

Like last time, I feel like I need to open up the stage for some further warm fuzzies and possible amusing stories to be spread around. So tell me about a first kiss, Dunhaven at large. So, hey there. I just left Anteaques and I thought it was important that I immediately share the fact that he does serve scones (with clotted cream, even!) and they are, in fact, very delicious. If you haven't had a chance to venture out, yet, I thought you should know that they have the Ezra Clarkson seal of approval.

So, hello! I'm Ezra. I'm new. Well, newish considering I lived here almost two decades ago? I'm not sure how many people I might have known back then are still here, but I would have been Aurelius Class of 2007 had my family stayed in Dunhaven, if that helps.

Anyway, I probably wasn't all that memorable, either way, so let's just pretend I'm new! I'll be taking over ownership of the local zoo, and am incredibly excited about some additions we'll be making to what we already have here. We'll officially announce those once some of the details are a bit more cemented, but it's going to be pretty cool, I think.

That being said, I've got nothing going on until Monday morning, so what suggestions do you have for me rediscovering Dunhaven?
