Mom and Dad's anniversary is just over two months and I know that's still a good amount of time, but I thought I'd see if anyone had any interest or thoughts to doing something special for them this year? It's not a milestone year, I guess, but 28 is pretty cool and I feel like they deserve it.

While we were getting groceries today, there were some girls in the lobby set up and selling Girl Scout cookies. I bought a bunch because this is truly the best part of the year and Zoe had all sorts of questions about why they were selling cookies and what Girl Scouts are and so on. By the time we got home and the conversation had ended, she had decided that she wants to be a Girl Scout once she's old enough, which I am completely fine with. I like the idea of her having the opportunity to be around more kids her age and all of the other perks that come with being in the group.

That being said, I went online and saw that it's for ages 5-18. For a moment I was sad for her, because it would be so much time before she'd be able to join. But then I realized that she turns 5 this year. What more, she turns 5 in three months. In fall, she will be in kindergarten.

Long story short, I'm getting old and I ate a box of Thin Mints. No regrets about the second.

Okay, calling my mom was a dick move, whoever you are, but it's fine. Whatever. I probably deserved that. Calling my place of work with false complaints? Seriously, fuck you.

We have someone new sharing our dreams, and that person is on this filter. I don't want to share anyone's identity without their permission, though, so this is just a blanket invitation to open up to everyone else were sharing these dreams with if you want to. It's fine if you want to stay anonymous, and I'm there last person who can judge you for doing so. We're in this together, though, so there's that.

FRIENDS & FAMILY

I'm so sorry for all of the secretiveness and Alex and my disappearing acts, but I promise it's all been for a very good reason. Almost two weeks ago, a wonderful woman asked to meet us based on the file that was created when Alex and I became an active family. She wanted to find out if we could be the right parents for her two beautiful nieces and, this morning, she chose us. We couldn't say much before, both because there was a process we needed to follow, and also because we didn't know until today that this would be a reality, so we hope you'll all forgive us for having to keep this one close to our chests.

We've spent spent every day since Christmas with her and the girls, letting them get to know us and, quite frankly, falling absolutely and utterly in love with both of them. So, tomorrow, we will be moving forward with the process and, on Tuesday, Alex and I will be coming home with our daughters: Alice Nicole (3) and Ava Marie (4 months). We'll share pictures once we're home and will start introducing each of you to them in the coming weeks.

Our hearts are full today, and we are so incredibly blessed. ♥

I had a lengthy debate with Zoe this evening about whether or not she could eat a snack while she was on the toilet. I don't remember this being covered in any of the parenting books, so I thought I would throw it out there for any aspiring parents that want to know what to look forward to.
