It occurred to me the other day that I'm just shy of having been in Dunhaven for a year. It's a bit of a mind boggling thought, because it really feels like I've been here much longer. I might not have grown up and been educated all that far from town in the grand scheme of things, but this town is so much different than growing up right in the DC Metro area or spending much of my 20s in Baltimore. Size aside, it's a special sort of place and I'm glad I made the fairly random decision to relocate here. I've met some wonderful people and being here let me reconnect with my favorite of them all, so I consider myself pretty lucky.

Here's to many more lucky years in this little town.

I have never been this damn happy to be so tired. And it's not even the fact that my baby girl wakes us up every three to four hours, it's because I can hardly go to sleep because I want to be right there when she wakes up to see her little eyes find our faces and the way the sight of our faces calms her at least a little. Because she knows when she sees us, we'll give her whatever she needs. This is every bit as exhausting and weird as they tell you to expect, but it's everything. I don't even remember who I was before I was my baby girl's daddy.

I hate to rain on the True Love and the adorable baby fever but we have a problem. Dragon Lady Shield called. She informed me they were visiting. I don't know when because I informed her she and Dragon Husband could not stay since my girlfriend the practising Wiccan did spells in the spare room and then I hung up. Oops.

Let's all go to Majorca for an extended (until school starts) vacation.

Hello, Dunhaven!

I'm pretty sure everyone knows me because I am legitimately the loudest resident in this town but, for the sake of modesty, allow me to introduce myself to anyone who doesn't. I am Charlie Parker, a senior at Athena Academy. For one of my capstone projects, I am hosting a social experiment that requires your help. It's kind of like Post-Secret which, if you're unfamiliar with it, is a project that collects anonymous secrets on postcards. It's wonderful and I highly recommend it. I would like to conduct something similar here, though it would be isolated to the network versus mailing me your secrets. It's really easy to participate. All you have to do is leave me an anonymous secret here. All comments are anonymous in that even I won't be able to tell who posted them. Though anonymous, they will be public. Comments can be anything, even something as simple as song lyrics that speak to you but that you wouldn't share with other people normally.

Please help me, Dunhaven! You're my only hope of getting a passing grade on this capstone!

If you were expecting something more pathetic, I was, too. He just looks hopeful, like I'll give him a biscuit. It worked, of course. But this realization made me wonder if I might have gotten scammed by my puppy, who knew he would get extra biscuits if he survived a bath so he rolled around in mud on purpose. He's a very sneaky guy, that Sam.

He's also very cute. Just look at that face.

It's been roughly seven months since I moved to Dunhaven and between feeling officially settled in at work and home on top of just feeling like my house is far too large and quiet on my own, my family has officially been expanded. ( Cut for picture! )

Everyone, meet Sam. He was adopted from the folks my parents got their dogs through, but ended up being brought back because the family's original dog wasn't adapting to the new puppy and now he's mine. I think it's safe to say that it's love. (Don't worry, Rupert, there's room for you both in my heart.)

SUMMARY: Nina and Rupert lucked out in having to work opposite shifts on Valentine's Day, but do their best to make the most of it.

So it's official. We're halfway there because twins are considered full term earlier than singletons. It's scary as hell, but exciting at the same time. Fetal anatomy scans soon. Before long we'll know whether we're having mermaids or dragons, and I'm super excited to find out.

P.S. I will literally pay someone to deliver me a large hot chocolate from Java Chip. (It's not coffee, Nina!) And a giant banana blueberry muffin. And jalapeno poppers from Grandma's. There's an extra tip in it for you if you don't judge me.

Not to sound full of myself, but I feel as though I've done several things in my life that are worth bragging about, but none of them so much as the fact that I just managed to remove a cork from my wine bottle without a wine opener. I'm a regular wino MacGyver.
