January term ends on the 29th. In theory, this should be no surprise if you've been studying for your final.

Someone a great deal cooler than me informed me that a lot of you use Instagram to communicate. As someone with a perpetual allergy to social media of any kind (read: snobbery), what will having an Instagram account provide me that having a social media "journal" on this platform can't?

More specifically, I left Facebook due to my inability to keep myself from making acquaintances' great aunts cry over their terrible political opinions. Am I going to have to fight any of you on Instagram? Am I going to be approached by someone working from home who thinks I'd be a great fit for the bottom segment of a pyramid scheme? How are the privacy settings? For those of you still in school: is Instagram sufficiently uncool enough that none of my students are on it?

And a question for the readers of Dunhaven! I'm looking for some recommendations of books to add to my TBR pile for 2020, so -- what is your all-time favorite book? Any genre, any author, fiction or non-fiction, I want it all. I know that for some that might be like asking someone to pick a favorite child, which may be me inadvertently downplaying the role of children in one's life in some eyes? I don't actually have one, so I can't really say. 😉

I don't I'm not Like I said, I know that I've only been here a couple of months, but I didn't have a lot of people in Chicago that I spent time with outside of professionally. You all have been a very nice change of pace.

Way too early to be up after tequila, seems like I'm kickin off 2020 with one hell of a bang. Still, at least it's Friday. Which means tomorrow is the first fishin trip for the year but out of concern for people who like to sleep, I'll even kick it off at 10am instead of 5am.

Why, you might ask? Simple. In the warmer parts of the year, we get the best fishin when the water temperatures are colder and that means generally before dawn. Not as much a concern in the winter, so early afternoon works real well too. If you ever find yourself needin to fish to survive, remember one thing: fish'll always try to find colder water to swim in.

My day has been spent searching the internet to have a continued thread of baby animals via text with my niece and if that's not what technology was made for, then I don't know what the point of it actually would be. She has also asked for pictures of the cats and a shopping trip date was made. All I'm saying is that I have only been doing this aunt thing for a short while, but I'm pretty sure this is me: ( Cut for image! )

It is almost 2020, which means that it will officially be the year that my kid becomes and adult and graduates high school and I don't like either of those things. Where can I file a complaint, please?

I know that we just had dinner, but since it was basically this big "catch Nat up on all the super exciting stuff she missed and now will never leave town again because she will have forever fomo" thing, I want to have another dinner that's a little bit more just focused on food. And I'd invite you all normally, but I also want to enjoy this fun? new connection we all have. So, you're all coming to my house on Friday evening. I'll make lasagna with garlic bread and provide wine. For those of you that are new here, you can bring something to pass if you want, but it isn't necessary.

Also, there's a very sweet boy that is renting my studio apartment. His name is Samuel and everyone has to be very nice to him, if you happen to see him around the property at any point.
