I have an interview with the paper next week and I swear I haven't felt this anxious ever. I've been interning there, obviously, and they know that the anonymous editorials were me, so it's not like they don't know me already but, I don't know, I'm still nervous? And maybe it's because everything is generally good right now? Mal and I are in such a good place, and school is almost out, and nothing really out of the ordinary aside from dream-related things is going on. So that's good, obviously, but also I semi-feel like it's too good to be true? Like something is going to happen that I haven't prepared for? Is it just me? Am I being ridiculous??

We should go away somewhere for a week. Or a weekend. We don't even have to pay for flights! But wouldn't it be super nice to just get out of Dunhaven for a little while? I could do with a vacation away from Dunhaven. What do you think?

I need a new job.

Do you ever suddenly slow down and realize that too much time has passed without noticing that it's been passing? I had that moment of existential crisis today when I realized how long it's been since I've been back home. Or, I suppose, where I grew up considering this feels much more like home than there ever did. It's been over a year and a half since I first arrived in Dunhaven to celebrate the birth of the best nephew that ever existed and so much has happened and changed since then that the passage of time both feels impossibly long and short at the same time.

I also had the moment of realization that it's been nearly that long since I really wrote anything. I miss it. I miss the sound of the keys clicking beneath my fingertips, or the scratching of pencil to paper. I miss the smell of ink and notebooks, and the feel of warm paper right after a freshly printed chapter. I suppose this is a lament of sorts. Oh, woe, where has the time gone etc etc.

But it's also a statement of purpose, I think. I think enough time has passed and enough big things have changed to warrant sparing myself a little time each day to return to the thing that held my heart before Hope and Kier filled it up so fully. I want to try writing again, finding the voice that felt silent for too long. I can find my words, again, right? There's no amount of time that can take my writing away from me?. Right?

I'm too pregnant for this to be the day I start wearing heels.

My best friend and brother is getting married today and here are some things I know (don't worry, I've saved some for my speech later).

I know that there is no man in this world who will be a better husband to my soon-to-be sister-in-law, and that there is no woman in this world who will be a better wife to him.

I know that, in terms of great men that I have had the fortune to know, my best friend and brother is at the very top. He is some of the best parts of our mother and our father, in ways he often doesn't even recognize, and he is even more parts the very best of himself.

I know that I have seen him happier since reconnecting with Oceana than I have seen him in a long time and, for that, I will be eternally grateful to my sister-in-law. I hope that he ignites that same happiness in you for the rest of your days.

I know that I could have asked for no better family to be born into and that there will be no days in the coming months and years and decades that either of you will be without the unparalleled support system that is the Waters family.

I know that Dad would be proud of you today, Nick. And I know, more than I know anything else, that he is proud of you all days.

Thank you for being my rock, my best friend, and a big piece of the foundation that is our family. Oceana, I would tell you that I am excited and joyful to welcome you to this family but you already are a part of it.
