Did you know that, in the 13th century, Pope Gregory IV declared cats to be instruments of Satan and, on his extermination orders, his followers set out to annihilate them throughout Europe? But what came after that, I ask you? That's right, ding ding ding, the The Plague. Had they not destroyed the cat population, the plague-carrying rat population likely would not have been able to spread like it did. So the lesson to be learned from history today is to give your kitties a little extra love, otherwise you will catch the plague and die. Sorry, I don't make the rules.
