[JILLIAN REED]
Hello, Miss Reed. I hope this doesn't seem untoward or out of place. But I saw your name on the network here as one of the people in charge of organizing this year's Dunhaven Pride, and I wondered if I might ask you a few questions?

My name is Mahira. I was born here in Dunhaven, though I've only more recently returned after some time away. I am [...] interested in attending the Pride event, though I've never felt been done so before, in this or any other city. I'm afraid I don't entirely know what to expect, I suppose, nor how to [...] prepare myself for such an event.

Thank you for your time.

Is anyone else going to DC Pride this Saturday? I know we have our own Pride here in town next weekend- which is amazing- but nothing wrong with Double Priding, right? 😂

[THABISA, WENTWORTHS]
I'm closing on the townhouse next Tuesday. 😱

I turned our house into a jungle this morning for Dahlia's birthday so we could start off our morning with cake for breakfast, and a virtual visit from our Air Force Family.

Happy birthday, hot stuff.

It's summer, so make sure you get your cars checked out and all that stuff.

I should probably hire someone for promotion, because even I know just how much that was lacking. But, you know, you should still come down if you are worried. The last thing we want is for you to break down when it's sweltering.

NADIA
We did some moving around of stuff in the garage and I've got this big old white wall open right now with nothing on it at all, if you know anyone that might be interested in changing that.

It's no mystery that there are a lot of us that are pregnant right now and I have a question for the expectant masses. I've spent more than my share time on baby name sites and even already had a few books that I've used for research in the past with my writing, but it's obviously a very different situation when you're choosing for your child. (As much as my characters are an extension of me, I'm self aware enough to know the difference.)

So, my question is: have you chosen names yet? If so, how did you choose? You don't have to share the name itself, of course, but I'm curious as to how people came to their choices. Or, for those that already have children, is there a story behind the choices you made?

Thank you in advance for satiating my curiosity. 😎

FRIENDS
On a completely different topic, I have a confession to make: I've never been to a Renaissance Faire before.

However, I have it under good authority that the town has one and it's opening this weekend (the "good authority" I speak of happens to be all the flyers and the announcements on the radio) and I rather want to change that. So who wants to come with me this weekend? The weather is supposed to be pretty decent and I would rather go now than when it's triple digits. I already sweat more than I ever have before (TMI, you're welcome), so I want to take advantage of the more bearable weather.

I also want a flower crown.

In case you missed it, the animal shelter is going to have an adoption event on Thursday. All cats, from kittens to seniors, are going to have their adoption fees waived. If you're looking for a new friend for home, definitely consider seeing if a future companion is waiting for you at the shelter.

There are some things that I know to be true, even if I don't say them aloud very often.

My name is Dahlia Liang.

I was born in Almada, Portugal.

I was adopted, and I have no desire to know anything about my life before I became a Liang.

I am a retired US Air Force Staff Sergeant.

I retired from the Air Force because of dream-based visions and PTSD that impaired my ability to fly.

But there are some other things that, even if I've grown accustomed to their truths, I haven't said aloud to more than one person in my life. But I'm trying. And today, perhaps, seems especially apropos for one in particular.

I'm bisexual.

I'm bisexual, and I'm in love with Verity McKinnon.

I'm in love with Verity McKinnon and I'm absolutely going to marry her one day.

I'm dreaming of Sam Wilson.

End of May tournament up at Medieval Times tomorrow and Sunday. If you promise to sit in my section and cheer me on, I've got a few passes. Soft drinks and meals (except the covered but you're on your own for alcohol. Tickets are $61.95 per adult normally so it's fair. Seating's first come, first served so you can't dick around and show up late.

What else

Oh yeah. I'll be performing as the Blue Knight in the tournament. Usual is Black & White, so it's probably good to get that out there.

That's it. Welcome to come out even if I don't have a pass for you. Just don't cheer for the Yellow Knight. He's going down.

Warning: Mom Feels Ahead

Eighteen years ago today, I had the incredible fortune to get to meet my son. I don't remember much that led up to it, other than the stories that Sean told me about a lot of creative swearing and squeezing his hand so hard that it bruised, but what I do remember is the intense relief and immediate overwhelming love I felt, first at hearing that beautiful cry and then at seeing him. Ten fingers, ten toes, this beautiful head of dark hair. He was this little bundle of perfection and I didn't know how I could possibly be so lucky. I still ask myself that to this day whenever I look at this smart, kind, loving young man that I am so, so incredibly proud of.

My life changed in so many ways back then, all for the incredible better. I am not a perfect mother by any means and I would never claim to be, but I don't know where I would be now had I not become one today, eighteen years ago. I love you more than I could ever imagine putting into words, Logan, and I hope you can forgive my being sappy in public, just this once.

And this is the part where I continue to be embarrassing and share pictures. Cut for images! )

I sincerely hope that my family appreciates that this has been in my fridge, untouched, for the last day and a half. 🤤

(Granted, a fair portion of that time, I wasn't even home. Cooking up for Eid requires a small army, and I am a dutiful culinary soldier. 😉 But I still knew it was there.)

I know that I am behind the times on Duolingo and the jokes and memes surrounding it, but I have to appreciate this one in several different ways: Cut for image! )

The fact that the owl looks like an owlbear. It's German. The mistake being one that I'd so truly make. It's art, really.

I realized that I haven't asked your feelings on birthdays and how you prefer to celebrate them, if you want to celebrate at all. And, you know, yours is next week so I figure I should probably ask you now if I should have already invited the entire town and looked into renting, I don't know, a bouncy castle. (😉)

It's hard to believe that this little ice cream dream of mine is now three years old. Thank you to everyone who has ever walked through these doors - I couldn't do any of this without your support. This year we're celebrating all around the world- right here on our little corner of Main Street, Dunhaven. I hope you'll join me.

I just finished my last final and am graduating in three days. I'm really not sure how that happened? I feel as though I was moving into my dorm as a freshman just yesterday.

FRIENDS & FAMILY
I know that it's been a while since I talked about this, but I just wanted to give a head's up that I made the decision to turn down the offer at that company in New York. It wasn't an easy decision at all, but it's the right one.
STELLA
So if you still need help on the food truck, I'm all yours now that I'm more or less officially done with school.

It's been a while since I had you all over for dinner, so you should all come over for dinner on Saturday. I need something calming before I have to deal with both sets of Logan's grandparents being in town and it's saying a lot when I request calming and it's you guys. 😉

I'll make fried chicken or something equally delicious. I will also supply wine. Bring a significant other or two, if you feel so inclined.
FRIENDS OF NAT & LOGAN
Next week is momentous, because it's not only Logan's 18th birthday, but he's also graduating from high school. So: Cut for image! )

I made invitations for the grandparents and I was very proud of my work, so please enjoy. And also, please feel free to come by. There will be food, drinks, celebration of my baby, all that good stuff.
