Taking a bath this morning I heard Reginald's voice like he was in the room with me. The shadow was there too. I could see it out of the corner of my eye even if it wasn't there when I looked. Icing on the cake was that my bathroom door shut on its own, and it took me a good five minutes to get it open again.

So this cabin fever thing is dragging on a bit, and it seems like people could use a distraction from the irritating/creepy stuff, so here's a suggestion: hang out in the room which has the fewest doors (the kitchen) and we can start to sort of try out that whole informal learning idea that was discussed at the last meeting.

It doesn't have to be anything organised or school-like or whatever, just...if you have a weird old tip that makes dermatologists hate you, it'd be cool to share that stuff around? I don't know how many people will be into this but anyway, that's where I'm hanging around at lunchtime in a couple of hours? for awhile today, and under the circumstances, for the sake of morale, I'm totally willing to teach people how to swear in six languages.

The new guy is a grief/trauma counselor.

He asked me how he could help and I just kind of laughed at my computer for a minute. I was swamped by the noises in my head.

Hi, so okay, we haven't met yet but I'm Erran, I'm new here and yesterday [...] earlier Edwin was explaining stuff to me and mentioned that you're a nurse and people go to you for medication and other health stuff. Unfortunately he also mentioned that the pharmacy is in town, which I would guess is a problem right at the moment, but maybe not? I don't know what you have on hand or...okay.

I'm epileptic (got that during Penetrating Brain Injury Tour '05, rock on) and (a) I'm on daily meds, and (b) although the meds help a ton, I do get breakthrough seizures so I know that some public-health education is probably going to be necessary here so that people in the house don't freak out. I'm fine with breaking out some magic markers to draw a fun informative poster with instructions like "do not put your fingers in my mouth or I will bite those fuckers off so help me" or "watch out, men, he pees his pants", but you know the place better than I do and I figured you might have thoughts about the best gameplan there.

Uh, that's it. Also, so far the people I've talked to have reacted to this with some alarm, but out there in the real world I do counselling and long-term therapy (mostly around grief and trauma issues), so hearing that there's a nurse in the house just triggered my social worker's instinct to facilitate things. Primal urge to interface with other professionals in the community to create resources that will promote social cohesion, you feel me. Let me know if I can help with anything, in other words.
