Plotty McPlot!

Hi All! Just throwing it out there what will happen with Leon on Friday, when the acceptance results for WADA are due to come out...

When the post comes at breakfast on Friday morning, he'll be sitting at the Slytherin table, chilling out before Transfiguration and basically looking his usual relaxed self. He'll look nervous, though, when the owls start coming in, and will practically DIVE for his mail (causing chaos in the process). Once he reads his letter and finds out he's got in, he's going to jump up from the table and without saying a word, run over to the Hufflepuff table and plant a great big snog on Maggie Wood (cleared with Sarah, btw), thus publicising their relationship, and run out of the door to the Entrance Hall for a celebratory lap of the grounds.

Phil and Maggie will both know why he's reacting that way, and possibly some of the other Slytherin 7ths and Leon's other friends? He probably won't post on the journals right away and will inevitably be a few minutes late to Transfiguration B. Anyway, if your char was at breakfast, feel free to post reactions/thoughts on the matter!

With interviews starting on the 6th, we figured now is a good time to begin job applications! Your characters won't find out for a bit which jobs have accepted them, but this will help us get a sense of how many people are applying for each job and how many interviews to set up. We'll have more information on interviews next week but for now, we'd like you to fill out this form for each job your 7th year has applied for. If the jobs are similar though (like auror and hitwizard or other positions in the same department or field) you can consolidate applications. Try to get these in by the 6th and all comments will be screened.

Here is the application

Job Applied for:

Why do they want this job:

How are they qualified:

Do/will they meet the requirements? be reasonable. If potions was their weakest subject, they won’t suddenly get an O in it, and most students won’t have straight Os

How will they act in the interview? Or, if applicable, how did their audition/sample go?

How do you, as a player, feel?

Hey all!

It’s getting to be that time of year where seventh years need to start thinking about what in the world they’re going to do after Hogwarts. We’ve put together a guide of what the requirements are to apply to some of the most popular career paths (if we’ve forgotten any, please let us know). The application deadlines are important to note, because we’re asking anyone with a seventh year student who is planning to go into one of these fields to “apply” with us. We’ll be putting up a post in a little bit and asking you to outline why your character(s) want this particular field, why they’re qualified (or why they aren’t), and your opinion as players. We’ll post acceptances on the days listed below (some of which, you’ll note, are after NEWT scores return).

A few things to note:
- For all positions that require specific NEWT grades, students apply using grades from the previous year and the earlier terms this year. Their final NEWT marks will be reported to the departments with which they have applied, and their acceptances (or rejections) will be finalized then.

- For Quidditch players, things are handled on a much more individual basis. Scouts and agents have been buzzing around the tournament during every game, and after spring break is when things will really kick into high gear. Players who are ranked in the top half may be approached to try out for/open negotiation talks with specific teams prior to the general tryouts (and may be offered a position early). Players who are not ranked in the top half are eligible for a general tryout that each league holds over the summer (after the tournament is over), from which professional teams will fill their remaining spots. It is extremely unlikely that any player will be offered anything more than a spot on a reserve squad at this point in time, and we’ll ask that you be realistic (AKA, please don’t have five teams arguing over your character unless they scored 8 goals or 8 hits in every single game). If we think you’re being unrealistic, we’ll ask you to change things up a bit. There are also a plethora of support positions for professional Quidditch teams and the organizations that run them (for example, analysts, conditioning specialists, people who work for the IAQ or the British and Irish League, etc.), so please also consider those options as surely not everyone will stay playing—these are more on a rolling basis, which is why there is no deadlines.

- If you have a foreign student who is considering applying to any of these career paths in their home countries, for simplicity’s sake please use the same dates to apply. We would like to note, though, that since the game is potentially continuing after graduation you may want to consider keeping your characters UK-based. They are welcome to apply to these careers in the UK, because there is a convenient conversion system used for test scores from foreign schools.

If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. This is a lot of information. Also, this is not required unless you want to make any of these plans for your seventh year.
