Hello!

So, I wanted to check in a little bit on what I've been up to. Our living room is basically littered with books from the university library. The cats are really enjoying sitting on the stacks. I think that I basically gave myself a crash course in neurology. Well, not that I necessarily needed one, since I've been studying it for a while, but that's besides the point. I had only touched on the concept of brainwashing and the extent that it could take hold, but looking into it deeper and being able to remember what Shuri actually did with Sergeant Barnes. The science is fascinating, but I'm also limited as, you know, Wakanda isn't a real place, nor is vibranium a real substance and they use it in so much of their tech and science. I've done some cursory research on possible alloys that could recreate something similar, at least in strength and versatility, but I wouldn't really know just how successful any of it would be without some experimentation. I'm going to email you my research on that, Mr. Salazar. I don't know how much it could help you with your suit.

That being said, I think that if the worst were to happen, Mr. Nikolaev, I have direction. We'd only talked a couple of weeks ago, but I know that this is important to you and I didn't want you to wonder where I was. It isn't as solid as a perfect solution, but I'm pretty confident right now that we'll get to one. I don't know how much that really helps and I'm sorry that I don't have more to give you yet.

Also, I'm going to be out of town for the next couple of days. I'll be leaving all of my research in the very intelligent and capable hands of my handsome husband, who is the smartest person there is. But if anything were to happen and I'm needed, I can't promise that I will be immediately back as it's going to require me to cross a border into the US and I already know that's probably going to be a giant pain, but I will have my phone.

You know what really softens the blow of turning another year older and creeping increasingly closer (and faster) to 30? Doing it in another country. Please ignore that some of that day was actually spent in airports, thanks to the airline industry being what it is. That's a lot of negativity, though, so let's focus on the before. The timing was coincidental given that the trip was also a bit spur of the moment, but just wait until you guys see some of the fun new stuff that's going to be littering the walls of Anteaques, specifically the hat wall. I'm really digging hats lately. Let's not discuss why.

But, I digress. I've been to Italy before, but this was a particularly good trip. 10/10, would recommend. Please see the following as evidence of how enjoyable it was: ( Cut for image! )

Look at all that wine. (As a note, sent that picture to my mother and she was more concerned with whether or not they have barbers in Italy than all of the wine. Mom needs to get her priorities set.) This picture should also give a hint as to what many of you are getting as souvenirs.

Anyway, there's my essay on what I did for my summer vacation. I would be sadder about being home and no longer vacationing, but I also have evidence as to why I can't be. ( Cut for image! )

I know it's just an internship and I'm so ridiculously grateful for it, and the part-time hours, and the opportunity and everything. Like it's pretty much already a dream come true. Remember how I said that I didn't want to go to Toronto because my parents had a lot going on and I just started working and you have your internship and the suit stuff and everything else? I was thinking about it more and I might want to be selfish and maybe go see them, just for a couple of days. Maybe around my birthday? I know that's soon, but maybe? I haven't had a birthday with them since we got married. But maybe it would be better in August? Sometime before school starts again?

So, please meet T'Challa and Thor. As background, both of us brought a cat home today to surprise the other, hence how we suddenly have two. I checked out the new Italian place in town for lunch today. Fontana's? I must have been one of the first ones in, because they gave me a gift certificate to come back with a date. And a good thing, too, since I'm going to be dreaming of that manicotti and/or alfredo and/or meatballs for at least a week.

Best friend hates Italian food, so feel free to fight amongst yourselves to join me in her stead. 😉
