Sunday June 23rd will be Deaf Day at the Dunhaven Renaissance Festival! This will be the first time we've tried it, but I'm expecting great things- and I'm even working during my summer vacation for it- so don't let me down, Dunhaven. 😉

Gallaudet alumni, parents of Deaf or HoH children, and anyone studying ASL will receive half off admission. Deaf and HoH children will get in for free. Certified ASL interpreters will be available for all stage shows, and Deaf and silent storyteller Dack Virnig will be a featured performer on that day only.

I've been watching the news about the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and their strike this past week and it's a bit fascinating. I won't get too into it, because it can be a delicate sort of situation, but I hope it results positively and with some steps forward in our community. Musician salaries have been a hot topic lately and I'm always happy to see some fairness and only marginally because, you know, I like having a savings. 🙃

Anyway, I know that having the CSO striking is unfortunate for ticket holders and some see it as waving our world's dirty laundry in public, but if it makes change, then I'm all for it.

My own dreams have made me particularly introspective recently, so I decided it's time for another anonymous post. This one isn't for any academic purpose (though each post is inherently good data for academic purposes despite their individual intentions), but it seems that a lot of us have found them cathartic. So, as usual, feel free to comment below--you will be anonymous unless you choose to be unmasked.

What lesson(s) have you learned from yourself the person you've been dreaming about?

My greatest lesson has been learning to truly value the people in my life who care about me. I already did, but there's something to be said for consciously recognizing that value each time I think of them.
