You heathens will be glad to know that the first Grandma's Pumpkin Pie of the season is now available while slices last. I'll keep making them through Thanksgiving. Daily availability is subject to how many people decide they want pumpkin pie for breakfast. Not guaranteed by dinner.

With studying season back in session for all of you in school, I'm going to be really generous and run half-priced loaded fries from now until October 1st. You're welcome.

I'm not good at talking about things that might be in any way emotional. You probably already knew that. I promised we would talk more, though, and we can. Here or in person. Whichever is better. I just needed some time to gather some of my thoughts.

HEY DUNHAVEN. In case you weren't in the know, in sixteen days it's my birthday and possibly someone else's, who knows. I sure don't.

Also in sixteen days is the WRAV Scavenger Hunt! This has been going on long before I rolled into town, so I'm guessing most people already know how this goes, but! If you happen to not know, it's this crazy scavenger hunt that folks here at the station have been cooking up literally since the day after last year's scavenger hunt concluded. The hunt takes you all around the town and should literally take you all day and have some pretty hefty cash prizes that you can use to buy me drinks afterwards! Because of course there will be fun times after, with food, alcohol available to those of age, live music, dancing, all that good stuff.

If you want to take part, all you have to do is stop into the radio station and register! You can also register the morning of the scavenger hunt, it you want to get up and do so before 8AM when the festivities begin. I will be there, chugging Monster, pretending I'm a morning person, and feeling every one of my twenty-seven years.

Also, we have officially met the moment where we can say that we've graced Dunhaven with our presence for over a year. The actual anniversary of the departure from LAX to DCA was couple weeks ago, but the scavenger hunt was my first big hurrah at the radio station, so that's what marks a year in my mind. Ohhh, what a year.

And then when that person (usually my brother) says something about how they got skimped out on fries, I just pretend I didn't hear. 🤷

I'm going to go to Grandma's and wallow in self-pity, which happens to look a lot like ordering a large order of cheese fries, and probably a pie, and definitely hot cocoa with cinnamon (if they even serve it in the summer). It felt wrong to go for the fries, though, without telling you.

I've gotten no writing done in days, but I've clocked plenty of hours of Google research for various projects. It was nice knowing everyone, I'm sure the police will be knocking any day.

This is the support I need in all my relationships.

I swear if I read one more thing on the internet that says something to the optimistic cadence of "just think of pregnancy insomnia as practice for the sleepless nights when the baby comes! 😁 😁 😁", I'm going to learn how to be a hacker and I am going to use my hacking skills to take down all of their blogs. I mean it, too. I made the mistake of sitting down with my laptop on my most comfortable chair and I have no idea how I am physically going to get out of this chair ever again thanks to my center of gravity being what it's become, so I might as well just get comfy and become a self taught hacker. (Now that I have the government's attention over my threat against mommy blogs, I'm going to add a hearty "lol jk" right here.)

I shouldn't complain, but I just did sooo. Less than two months to go. I can't decide if that's terrifying or exciting I've got this. Especially given that my mum insisted on cleaning my house before they left. I might have to let them visit more often.

So I've seen people on here talking about dreams and memories. Is that really a thing? Or am I reading too much into it?

Every summer, my students and I do this thing where we make playlists for each other. I keep up with what they're interested in and vice versa, we introduce each other to new artists. Sometimes they think my stuff's boring as hell, but then one of them will show up to class on the first day and say they couldn't stop listening to something and went out to get the rest of an artist's album. I live for those days. But even when they don't dig it, the point's more to listen to something outside of their comfort zone.

This week, it's favorite movie soundtracks, and I got caught up thinking about Black P how incredible Romeo + Juliet's was, so I've made no progress at all.

PS: I am on actual vacation from work for the first time since I finished presenting my dissertation and I can't decide if it's blissful or stressful. I checked my email this morning out of habit and was so displeased with myself.

Just sitting here internally debating how successful, on a scale from Revolutionary War to the Beatles, #LyonsInvadeAmerica2k18 has been. There is no Lyonsmania, yet, but also no one died. If you hear cannons, we're trending toward the wrong end of the scale.
