It seems I've lost track of where I sent a few missing pages to a number of infernal Muggle office machines. If someone were to locate them, I'd be forever in your debt. They're an important addition to the integrity of my research — I can't very well organise everything in their proper places without entire sections on runes.

Oh that note, I don't know why it doesn't allow you to print more than 300 pages at a time. Silly, really. I miss using parchment.

I have a query for the ship at large, should you feel comfortable revealing your answer: What keeps you here when nothing compels you to? I am curious.

There's a curious phenomenon that sometimes happens when you see your teacher in public. It usually manifests in symptoms like confusion, anxiety, and even embarrassment. I suspect it's because we're seen as a bit infallible — which we very much aren't — and having to reconcile the sight of your mentor picking out jams can be a strange experience. I understand. Once I saw my colleague shopping for hair care products. I still haven't fully recovered.

With that out of the way, I'm here to give you full permission to completely ignore me. Even if we lock eyes, I'll feign immediate ignorance. Hopefully you feel more confident now about potentially being cornered by me in the wild. Ha

I wanted to give you plenty of time so you don't get overwhelmed. So here's your reminder: 38 days and counting.

Right, so we’ve had a lot of new arrivals, not to mention the whole kidnapping by Leaf Things since I held the first round of trials, so before I finalize the teams, I’m inviting all of you to try out for a quidditch team! Those who already have don’t need to, obviously, but I want to make sure everyone who wants to play has a shot at it.

For those of you who don’t know about quidditch (I am very sorry for you!), it’s a brilliant game played in the air. We’ve got broomsticks charmed so anyone can fly them and a reasonable amount of safeties built into the holodeck program to make it just dangerous enough to be fun. I’m happy to teach anyone who wants to learn more, as is anyone who has played before, I’m sure!

I’ll be holding this new set of trials every evening next week from Monday through Friday.

Has anyone else been tripping over apples this week? I've half a mind to do something about it.

Apple trees appear all over the ship during this week, and it's advised to pick the apples. You'll find every single type of apple that you can imagine! Pick apples, make apple pie, and make cider!

Welcome back, everyone. I'm glad the mission was successful and we all made it back to the ship. Not quite the missions that I am used to back on the Enterprise, but even we've had our share of odd times.

Something happened while I was away with the rest of the teams. I didn't mention it sooner because there was a more pressing matter, but I think I should say something.

I believe I have new memories, from home. I'm not sure if they're real or not, they seem real, and at least I think they are new memories. Events that I don't remember happening, but it was all extremely detailed. Weeks worth of events, not all of them good.

First time I've been kidnapped and not had someone try to kill me. But I still can't say I want to repeat the experience.

It's also my duty to inform everyone that tomorrow is the birthday of the girl who might as well be my sister: Miss Hermione Jean Granger. And in light of that, we will be celebrating Hermione with drinks, cake, and presents at The Elle. If you're stumped on what to get her -- Hermione's never met a book she didn't read as soon as possible. Or just give her a really infuriating riddle to solve.

And I'll leave you all with a question to ponder and answer if you so choose:

What inanimate object brings you the most joy?

My answer: I don't have it here, but my Rookie of the Year award from my first season with my quidditch team at home. It represents a lot of dreams I had growing up, and all the hard work I put in to get where I was in my career when I won it.

A close second, though, are the two necklaces I always wear. One was part of a set -- a necklace and earrings with my birthstone -- that the twins gave me for Christmas in 1997. The other, a lion's head engraved into a gold disk pendant, was a gift from Harry for my seventeenth birthday. Though that's as much sentimental value as the tracking charm it has so that he can find me in a crisis. Not that it works when you're kidnapped to another dimension or whatever that was.


ooc: pretend this is posted tomorrow -- Hermione's birthday is Sept. 19. I just have a busy day and might not have time to post, and I didn't want to miss out on Ginny blasting the message about it!
