I cannot stop spelling things. T-h-i-n-g-s things, like that, it has an obnoxious rhythm that's set into when I talk (about every fifth word or so, the compulsion to type it is there but I can control it) and I believe it's driving the entire magic department insane, sorry everyone.

Just talk to me in text, t-e-x-t, until I get control over the habit, it isn't happening as often.

Macaroons are a weird thing. Usually like sweets, but these aren't my thing.

Consider this an apology, too. Should have dealt with the mask a lot sooner, and opened communication about it. What it caused is on me, and I'll do my best to work to make up for it. Only explanation I got is some things have a lot of memory to them. Doesn't mean they're not bad.

Now accepting nominations for a birthday celebration that isn't a copy of Tony Stark's.

... nothing against him, mind, but.

No duplicates.

MORALE TEAM
Hi Thor and team!

Anyone who knows me will vouch that I so often have my nose in a book or other studies that I'll forget to pay attention to dates, and since my promotion my paying attention to dates has been more ... focused on the job and thus not at all on things important to myself.

That preamble said: I'd really like to host a public Seder sometime this month (the timing does not have to match Earth dates exactly I don't think, since we are in space, and maybe it would be better to do when people on missions have returned?), but I have no idea how to organize these sorts of things!

BROWNSTONE HORSE 35 (Piper, Violet & Hermione)
Housemates I don't talk to enough because I'm a workaholic—this upcoming week is a holiday for me, and while I will not enforce it on the kitchen the way I might have in a private home, I did want to know if:

a) either of you wished to attend a seder at home or,
b) if you minded if I hosted one for a larger group of people in the home! I'd like to do something public as well, I've reached out to Morale, but am attempting to communicate well and not steamroll the household. Nor do I wish to have my home be the host for an open-to-anyone event.

Have you lost anything recently? Consider that a too clever for his own good, bored large orange cat with lock picking skills might have made off with it sometime in the last two weeks and I've just found his latest cache!

Things My Cat Literally Dragged In
  • What appears to be four small chunks of solidified lava
  • Five rolls of washi tape
  • Floor tiles
  • A single rook from a chess set that has also been lightly chewed on by a small to medium sized dog (probably, it doesn't look like it was a human or a cat)
  • Someone's tiny pet tarantula, still in its travel habitat
  • A bottle of hot sauce
  • Silver mens' house slippers, size 44
  • Resin and porcelain 8" figurine of the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz
  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Sixteen individual Lego bricks
  • Strawberry lemonade lip balm, unopened
  • Foam darts
  • Pastel hair ties
  • What appears to be very fancy hot chocolate mix
  • A little notebook labeled "Passwords" (which I hope does not contain passwords)

Any of the above belong to you? Please claim it. If you're not sure, please ask clarifying questions. If your cat is one of the other cats in Crookshanks' theft ring, I'm sorry.

Would there be any interest in an informal sorting ceremony? There are quite a few Hogwarts alumni here, but for those of you who didn't attend, I can explain. When we start school, we're sorted by a hat enchanted to determine which of the four houses best suit our potential. They are:
HUFFLEPUFF, which values hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play.
GRYFFINDOR, which values bravery, daring, altruism, and chivalry.
RAVENCLAW, which values intelligence, knowledge, planning, and wit.
SLYTHERIN, which values ambition, cunning, heritage, and resourcefulness.
I thought it might be entertaining to sort everyone here — purely for fun, of course, and I'll make badges to hand out, if you'd like to show off which house you landed in. The enchantment part is tricky imbuing an inanimate object with Legilimens is immensely fiddly, but it shouldn't take me longer than a month to prepare.

Thoughts? Concerns? I'd happily re-sort anyone who's already been through the process. I know I'm curious if my house still holds true.

Because some people are animals (and I need to have it in writing to confirm I am, in fact, correct), I'm posing this to the wider group (and yes, there is a correct answer):

Water on the toothbrush before or after you add the toothpaste.

My quidditch captain was always big on players getting to know one another. She thought it was essential for us to do our job and play at an elite level. And one of the ways she used to do that was to put us in groups and force us to answer some personal questions about ourselves.

Some of you I know really well, some of you I don't know at all. But since we're apparently stuck here for longer than I had hoped, I figured what the hell.

So, in the spirit of community or whatever it is these leaves want, I give you three questions.

1. Who (or what) from home would you be fine with never seeing again?

2. When your mind wanders, where does it go most often?

3. What was the happiest period in your life?

You don't have to answer all three. Or any of them, really. Just offering something to temporarily break up the monotony of this place and all the games.

Edited to add:
Luz pointed out that my answers to my own questions are buried in the comments. So for the sake of fairness, my answers are:

No. 1 -- I'm sure there's probably a better answer, but the person who springs to mind is Rita Skeeter. She's this fraud who calls herself a journalist, but really just makes things up that will help sell papers. She's written so many terrible stories about me, my family, and my friends over the years and caused real trouble with some of them.

No. 2 -- Home, usually. Not how I left it, but how I'd like things to be if I can ever get back.

No. 3 -- Probably my fifth year at school. The war had started, but things hadn't gotten out of hand. All my friends and my family were alive, and my biggest worry was getting my potions homework done on time. It was the last year where I had any semblance of innocence left regarding the sorts of things people would do to one another. I miss that ignorance sometimes.

All right, I have to confess to you all that that was sort of fun.

I've never been a sport sort of person, and the only time I was required to participate in a field day before it was school at age ten and it was one of the worst days of my life—but when you add aliens, apparently it's much more bearable?

It took actual effort for him not to over-pronounce that (as ‘hwat’), instead limiting himself to the incredulous expression he directed at her. )

Again? Really>

Hello, I'm Obi-Wan and it's nice to meet you. I have to say, this being the second time I've been pulled from my timeline that at least we are in space and not stuck on a single planet. Does anyone else here remember New Zealand? Your names are familiar but don't want to assume...

Force Sensitives
Always nice to feel a few others here. Is anything strange happening with the Force or things I should know?

Talk about whiplash: I've gone from having a few dozen books to choose from to literally thousands. It's kind of dizzying, and yet oddly satisfying to scroll through and see all the options.

And the magical research texts? I mean bloody hell. It puts Hogwarts to shame.

Not sure who made this whole thing, but I have just one complaint. 4 out of 5 stars/would recommend for amenities. Living arrangements need work, though.
