HUNGER GAMES PEOPLE

Hey.

A friend from college came to visit over the weekend for my birthday and ended up staying a bit longer than anticipated. He leaves tomorrow, but I was wondering if you all might want to come over for dinner tonight to meet him? Maybe grill some burgers and have some Wilkerson's deli salads? Or we could do like a potluck kind of thing.

Anyway. His name is Dion [...] and he's dreaming about Peeta.

I try to make sure she knows it all year, but it's Mother's Day and I will happily take the excuse to wax poetically about Iris Waters, quite easily among the very best of moms there ever was. Supportive, loving, and always there with advice or just a kind word when needed -- I honestly don't know where I would be today without her. I'm looking forward to smothering her with appreciation and scones (homemade, thank you very much) later on today, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to talk about her beforehand.

I'm also looking forward to next Mother's Day, because while I'm completely supportive of smothering moms-to-be with love, it will be even more fun to give that appreciation to my wife when Baby Waters is here to help me.

I learned something new this weekend. I learned why doctors give new parents a six week waiting period. I learned this, it so happens, by finding out that the Moore family is increasing by at least 1 in nine months.

Way too early to be up after tequila, seems like I'm kickin off 2020 with one hell of a bang. Still, at least it's Friday. Which means tomorrow is the first fishin trip for the year but out of concern for people who like to sleep, I'll even kick it off at 10am instead of 5am.

Why, you might ask? Simple. In the warmer parts of the year, we get the best fishin when the water temperatures are colder and that means generally before dawn. Not as much a concern in the winter, so early afternoon works real well too. If you ever find yourself needin to fish to survive, remember one thing: fish'll always try to find colder water to swim in.

Y'all know what's great in December?

Offshore fishing.

So get yourself over to Calm Waters this weekend and join me for a good six hour trek out on the water, pullin up plenty of sea bass, bluefish, and if we get lucky maybe even a tautog. Now, throwback rules are gonna apply, but this weekend looks to be high 40s, sunny and clear, before a cold weekend and some freezin rain next week and I sure as hell want to beat that. Bet you do, too.

5am Saturday, for anybody who's in. Bring a coat and a hat. I'll supply rods and bait, show you what a Waters Boat can really do for your love of fish.

Alright. I've been sitting on this for a few days, but, as it turns out, I can't just let it go.

I know we're not all best friends, and I don't expect us to be. But we are all teammates, and that is supposed to come with a certain level of trust and respect.

Mo attacked Tally last week.

Tally did some things that Mo disagreed with, but, in the end, they had nothing to do with Mo herself. And, regardless of what Mo felt about that, physical retaliation against a teammate is absolutely uncalled for.

Yeah, I'm pissed. But at least I'm using my words.

We don't have to support one another in everything we do off the track. We're individuals. But if we can't at least rely on one another to not physically attack us, what the hell are we even doing pretending to be a team?

I know it's sort of still a holiday weekend and you all have a lot going on otherwise, but [...] can you make some time to come over to mine and Foster's place tonight? Tally is here, and she's [...] not doing great. I still don't know the whole story, but I've gotten pieces of it. Things to do with her and Samuel, the latter of whom has now apparently gone back to California after they broke up. Which seems excessive to me, but- There's [...] a host of other esteem issues, and she's not feeling very deserving of much right now, so I'm trying not to overwhelm her. But she asked for you two.

Thank you WRAV for the opportunity of a lifetime by giving away trips like Tropic Like It's Hot. (The name is probably going to forever make me laugh.)
