Attention party people, this is a friendly reminder that there are still a few tickets for the New Year's Eve party happening at The Bar tomorrow night.

The party will be open to the public until 6:45, and once those leaving to make curfew have departed, we will be locked in for the rest of the night, ringing in the new year at midnight! Overnight rooms are limited so reserve one before you're stuck ringing in the new year passed out in a booth.

Now that we have a set date to officially open the Austin orphanage (January 2, 2020!), we're super excited to also announce that sign ups are now available for our Big Brothers and Sisters mentoring program! You'll hang out with your Little Brother or Sister at least twice a month though you can definitely chill with them more often if you want. Leave a private comment addressed to mcdreamy, thorns, daddy_daycare, and bellagio and one of us will contact you with a brief application process to figure out if you'd be a good fit for one of our kids. It's gonna be bomb!

I am so excited to share the first two interviews of the new Austin Interview Project are now live on the Freenet if you haven't seen them on your list already!! Our goal in the Department of Vital Communications, besides obviously keeping the Freenet up and running and making sure that we can communicate with each other in a vital way, is to showcase the personal stories of the people of Austin. No matter how long you have been in this city, everyone has a story to tell and a personal impact that they make on the world around us.

Ran into a couple ladies in the UMCB district about ten minutes ago, and they seemed really panicked about S'mores gas. Is that still a problem? 'Cause the district does kinda have that smell...

Today has been such a good day. As I was leaving the Capitol building I ran into the office clerk for the commerce department and she told me that my application for the community center has been approved! I managed to get the paperwork before I left for the day which means I can start working on development and construction immediately.

Since it's an old grocery store the place was entirely picked over and the US Government took all the salvagable appliances, but the bones are good. I think once it's fully cleared out and fixed up it's going to be a really special place.

There's a lot of work to be done but I'm so excited! Think I'll head over there tonight to get a head start. The building is on 31st & Guadalupe if anyone wants to stop by and take a look!

It's my birthday!!! Savannah ordered a cake mix and frosting from Oklahoma as a test of that catalog thing and we had a family party thing, no big deal. Here's a video she took of me

I've talked to a few of you about starting a book club here in Austin, and we'll be able to begin meeting at the Lending Library at the beginning of next month. With this in mind, I've been looking for a book to discuss. To my great chagrin, the only books available in bulk in the local bookstores (enough for us to begin a book club, I mean, quantity-wise) is Twilight. I guess no one really wanted it for their shelters back before things changed.

The next book we'll be reading, if you want to order it from the catalog, will be The Great Gatsby. But if you want to do something with your free time now, we have several copies of the first Twilight book available at the Lending Library for anyone who wants to pick it up. Maybe we can hate-read that one.

I'm writing to people of the Library and Dog Park to get out the truth -- it's true that I've been returned to the library by my kidnappers. As I'm sure you've all seen on the Freenet, I was taken by the US Government. I still don't approve of the drastic measures that were taken (as I was literally ripped away from my brother's side while out for a walk with our dog) but I think that their intentions are genuine.

Olinger was holding our city hostage and President Hemings has zero experience in negotiating a situation like that. It took them a long time to figure out how to resolve it, but thankfully our city was spared and Olinger has been brought to justice. I've been assured that he and those closest to him will pay for their crimes. I'm also relieved that his successor is someone I trust and whose moral fiber is stronger than just about anyone I know: Nina Clarke.

I know it's going to take time for the US Government to earn our trust, but I am cautiously optimistic that this will be a good turn for Austin.
