I just overheard two ladies talking in the library, adamant that Rhett Wyatt can't possibly be a murderer because he's far too handsome and only ugly men murder people, of course. Sounds like pretty solid evidence to me.

Tommy gave me a ride to Seattle today, where he very kindly helped me find a decent used car. I figured it was time for me to have my own car instead of always borrowing someone else's or catching rides if I needed to go somewhere out of town.

A reminder from your friendly neighborhood librarian: if I can hear you gossiping talking from all the way across the room, you're being too loud and you'll be asked to be quiet or leave. And if you're going to gossip about Mr. Griggs, you can just leave.

Is it true? Was Eli's dad arrested for murder? I've been hearing gossip about it all morning at the library. Some people apparently didn't get the memo that we broke up and have asked me how he's doing, as if I would talk about him anyway. Others said it was a good thing we broke up because he's probably like his dad and I actually wanted to punch them for that.

Meet Lily.

WHEN: Thursday June 28 - Tuesday July 3
WHERE: Flathead National Forest, Montana (and on the road to and from)
SUMMARY: Following a really crap day the previous week, Megan decided to take a spur of the moment trip Far Away (-ish) for a few days to get her head back on straight.
WARNINGS: I don't think there's any?

( She wondered what it would be like to simply keep going. To just leave and never look back. What did she have back in Fall City, anyway? )

This morning around 6:30, Megan showed up at Common Grounds and got a large iced coffee to go. Not completely unexpected, though a little earlier than she's normally there. What might be of particular note is the fact that she arrived and left in a car (she doesn't have one, so she walks everywhere). If you pay attention to that kind of thing, you'd recognize her mom's car. And then she left town, heading east.

She hasn't told anyone where she's going. The only person who knows anything is the Head Librarian, who only knows that Megan took time off from Thursday through next Tuesday. Speaking of the library, the teenaged girl (Melinda) who is only working part time at the library this summer because her parents made her get a job will be picking up most of Megan's shifts over the next few days. She doesn't know where anything is, she barely knows how to check books out to you, and she really doesn't care about being there or doing any kind of good job.

MICHELLE went to the library looking for The Handmaid's Tale and Melinda looked for it for 10 minutes before Michelle asked if she could check the computer. She nodded and says "oh, yeah" and checked… and the library's only copy is checked out. If you want her to add you to the waitlist for it, it'll take her another 10 minutes to figure that out.

SAM wants to look something up in the microfiche newspaper archives. Yeah, Melinda has no idea how that even works. After she tries to help for 15 minutes, QUINN comes to the rescue. Melinda sulks back off to the desk and puts her headphones in.

If you try calling Megan, the phone will ring a few times before going to voicemail: it's on, but she's not answering it. By dusk tonight, if you try calling it will go straight to voicemail: it's either off or the battery is dead. It won't be back on until Tuesday morning. This morning, Megan left Clea & Tony's apartment with her bag, dropped the bag off at her parents' house in Preston, then went to the municipal building. Once there, she asked to speak to Deputy Sheriff Wolfe. It absolutely had to be her, she wouldn't talk to anyone else, but she would say it was related to the Moira MacTeer investigation. She would sit there and wait however long she needed until the Deputy Sheriff could see her.
