WHO: Nolan and Elvera MacLaver
WHEN: May 27th, late.

SUMMARY: Nolan freaks out. Elvera does the best she can with what she has.

( Nolan was more his mother’s son than his father’s in that moment, and Elvera felt a wash of anxiety, edged out only by her need to protect. )

The evening of 7/26 Henry March has set up a dinner for Elvera, Diamond, and Hugh to come over to his home.

He invites them inside when they arrive. For Diamond and Hugh who are now on the people on one hand Henry can count having entered his home list, the home is simple. They enter through a small breezeway where they can take off their shoes to come into the larger home itself, which honestly isn't that big. It's pretty plainly decorated with full bookcases and plush chairs. The dining room has a table only big enough for the four of them really, hand carved, and the dishes are plain, but nice.

Henry made dinner and there would be any other food the others brought. There'd wine, sparkling grape juice, and water available.

Elvera Tells the Kids She's Pregnant: A Summary

Bringing all the kids to have a sit down dinner is always A Feat, not in that it's hard to get her family together, but rather that the MacLavers tend to eat and multitask.

Nolan was more like his mother than father at the table, on edge but noticeably less so than he has been in recent weeks. Jules was happy to be there and Rosie was texting on her phone most of the time.

Elvera didn't beat around the bush because she believes in a mostly honest approach. She let them know she was pregnant, how far along she was, and who the father was.

Jules was a little shocked, being that her mother is older and it's all unexpected. She doesn't mind that the father is Henry-- inwardly, she's actually pretty glad it's not Chip.
Nolan was less receptive and began to withdraw and clam up, as he does. After dinner, he rebuffed his mother's attempt to have a heart to heart with him, and instead decided to bounce to a friend's house.

Elvera spent the rest of the night with Jules and Rosie for as long as they wanted to.

Elvera was a busy bee this morning! First it was to Common Grounds, where she ordered, "Um... Well, I'm not very sure how many people are working there now... I know we have some new officers... Gosh, um. Do you think seven cups will be enough...?" She would have gone with whatever RAFAEL VALDEZ recommended.

She next headed to La Vie En Brioche to pick up a dozen plain bagels with cream cheese on the side.

Lastly, she headed to the King County Municipal Building to drop them off for the officers. She would have lingered a little to talk if anyone seemed like they were in need of an ear.

For the Inn: well, she can't afford to get coffee and bagels for all of you, but she'll share her K-Cups.
