The 100; a panfandom game

Hello!

As some of you may know, the Mount Weather Book Club has fallen into a bit of a mess because we lost its chairwoman. In the interest of keeping things going, I'm assuming the responsibilities of the club and hosting discussions on Friday evenings at seven o'clock in the library.

This month's book will be The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, and I've made copies of it available on the network so you can read on your tablet. Unfortunately, there's only one physical copy available; if you prefer to read an actual book, you can read it in the library as long as it stays in the library so others can make use of it as well (we're not having another Return of the King situation).

We may take longer than a month to finish it, as it's rather long and there's a lot to unpack and discuss. Meetings will begin at seven and end whenever things end, I suppose, and there will be refreshments.

Last month, people were compelled to voice the truth and their every thought. We have just seen people reversed in time.

I would hope that no one intended such widespread results, but nevertheless, I believe we need to have an open, frank discussion about how we're using our magic given the extreme side effects we have seen, and about communicating when the unexpected happens so that we might help to correct it.

For instance, I am creating wizarding chess sets for use here. If anyone should feel a compulsion to move to E5 or capture a pawn, I expect to be informed promptly so I can cast the relevant counter-charms.

If nothing else, something like that does mean you learn a lot about people. For better or expectedly worse.

Now is there a general never talking about it ever again consensus?

I'm still trying to reckon with the fact that I've a son in the future.

It's both...a relief and a shock. I'd like to know more about the future, for those of you who are from it in my world and who may know about it. What can you share with me?

I have decided, given the last few days, the battle, the recovery, the cleanup, that this Christmas will most definitely be the most wonderful time of the year.

The effort people have gone to, the plans, the various cultures and their own holiday traditions, it really fosters a sense of community that I for one am proud to be a part of.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I could have sworn the tinsel over the door of the mess was red and gold this morning.

I mean not that I'm complaining, it looks much better now but, are you engaging in a little house rivalry Severus?

SIRIUS

Christmas plans? We should do something.

I'm not sure if I'd say the kitchen is back in 'working order', but we're together enough to be churning out food, so we're calling it a win.

The Mess Hall is not clean enough or safe enough for people to gather in, and I know so many of you are either bedridden or hurting and don't want to haul yourself down here anyway. What we're going to be doing is this: the kitchen staff needs extra help both cooking and cleaning, and then for mealtimes, we're going to set up tables just outside the hospital and at the ends of the residential hallways. I'll do a little magic to get the food on the tables, and then we're going to deliver them to each room and everyone staying in the hospital.

Some of us are well enough to be up and about with helping, so if you're not one of the helpers for the kitchen staff, you'll have to come to the hospital area to get food for now. With everyone so hurt, the Mess Hall is going to take a while to clean up. Bigby's fight with Mary left... I would say most of our tables and chairs broken, not to mention covered in blood. Nothing we can't fix with some magic, I don't think, but it does take time to do that. (I was about to say 'but it's not magic', but it is magic, magic just isn't... you all know what I mean. My point is that our pretty vintage furniture can be salvaged.)


Life Support is still happening this Sunday, but we're going to be meeting in my flat instead (504W) because of the damage in the rest of the mountain.

First of all, are you all alive? (You'd better be.) Check in, please.

Second, I agreed to watch Snow and Bigby's children for a while. Snow is trying to organize everything, and poor Bigby nearly died and isn't in any shape to look after himself, let alone the babies. They float all the time, more or less, so I'm tying them to some table legs in the kitchen so they can hang about while I'm working. Any help to come in and keep them amused would be welcome.

I am working on putting together an understanding of what ingredients are available for potion making, which, in theory, has the opportunity to assist us in medicines and the like here. But before I can do any testing, I must put my hands on a pewter cauldron. Size two would be helpful (and I can provide dimensions for such a thing), but I can work without the exact dimensions.

The metal, however, and the process by which one is made - those are more difficult. What are the likelihood that we have the materials to make a pewter cauldron?

I know that some of you guys are adorably not well-versed in the ways of the internet or how we got to know each other online like, 200 years ago. There were quizzes but one of my favourite things (HELLO HARRY POTTER PEOPLE) was called the "Veritaserum Meme" ... I know, sounds CRAZY right? Well, it's definitely something like crazy. It's like a "Truth or Dare" game without the dare.

Because I don't know you guys yet, but apparently you used to be pals with an old version of me, I figured we could start off all shiny and brand new. I get to find out more about you, you get to find out more about me. So we are going to play the VERITASERUM MEME.

And Mount Weather, you're going to be totally cool about it. We're blizzard buddies. We're going to learn things about each other. No secrets among friends!!

OH NO. You have been given a dose of Veritaserum (basically, this is a thing that makes you tell the truth no matter what). Comment below with your name so that people can ask you questions which you must answer honestly. Feel free to take advantage of other people in a similarly dosed state, too.

Look, I didn't want to say until the muggle doctors had ruled out any non magical cause. But a day or so ago a man was brought in, cold, staring, scared. No one knew what was wrong but, well, something crossed my mind. With warmth and a bit of chocolate he seemed fine eventually
