Sometimes I really hate it here. The good news is that we have enough of the good booze to last through New Year's Eve, but it will be a bit of a wait before the next batch is done. Enjoy it while it lasts, everyone.

On the heels of the Iceshine that Kalli told you lot about a few days ago, I'm pleased to tell you all that on the New Year we'll have a beer available that promises to actually be good. So there's that to look forward to. And I've finally got around to decorating the pub, so it looks festive in here, and there's some real pine boughs so it smells nice.

I have good news. The brewers have made vodka. The catch is that it's blue. I sent some samples to the lab and was told that there's nothing wrong with it, it's safe to drink. It's just blue. And right now it's being infused with various flavours, so there's that.

It's pretty brilliant, we've got an alcohol now that's not bad, in all honesty. And it's been diluted down to a strength that won't kill anyone on contact.

There was something else oh, right The tavern is pretty well open for operation, and has been for a little while. But we're still working on a name, so if anyone has any suggestions, that'd be brilliant.

I've done it. I've found a book that talks about how make all sorts of alcohol, and doesn't get to caught up in the technical details and maths that it's impossible to understand. So I req'd some potatoes and I'm going to start making vodka today. And I read a bit about how to actually dilute alcohol so that we can get the proofs we want, and I've got some various herbs and things so that we can start infusing it all.

Basically we're going to give this place the best Christmas and New Year's ever, and your friends will have pretty decent drinks for their wedding.

So that pod that dropped a few days ago had my medi-wizard bag in it. I thought I'd give you first crack at what's in it, since you're the actual Healer and will be able to really use any of it before I do. I'd just restocked it, from the looks of it, so it's pretty well good to go. I saw extra bottles of Pepper-Up potion in there, too.

I always liked Autumn at home. Scotland always seemed to want to start autumn right when school started, and right up until it started the nasty rainy, snowy weather I liked being outside and watching the leaves change across the lake. The giant squid was always a little friskier, and it was just nice.

I've made up my mind. I was studying to be a mediwizard at home, and i thought that maybe one day I'd be a healer. And I got here and I'm neither of those but it isn't what I wanted to do. So I'm going to take the classes to be a healer here. Or a doctor. They're basically the same thing.

In the morning, a package is found outside James, Sirius, Remus, and Lily's door, addressed to The Marauders. It contains notes written in Peter's handwriting on how to make Firewhisky. These notes include a notation to use magical water using the spell "Aguamenti". And a note telling them that the grain is in sacks in the brewery, and that they can come get them any time. It's a pretty thick folder, containing a lot of information.

My new colleague Peter suggested that I introduce myself here, if I wanted to meet people. He also suggested that there may be people from my home world here.

Hello there, new world. My name is Kallian Tabris, and I'm most recently of Ferelden, Arling of Amaranthine, but I'm a native of the city of Denerim. I was a Grey Warden there, but I'm told there aren't any Darkspawn here. With no Darkspawn to fight (and praise be to Andraste for that!), I'm calling upon completely different skills and setting to work on brewing and distilling alcohol for you fine people.

Peter and I have recently liberated a few chairs and tables from a storage room, so if you'd like to have a pint of what's currently in stock and come to sit and chat a bit, come visit us in the brewery!

And while we're talking business...who's on the garden and food-gathering staff around here? Peter and I are looking for things with sugar in them to turn into revelry and joy. Talk to us.

It feels weird not including Sirius in this, because he'd love it. But, right, so. James and I talked about figuring out how to make firewhisky, and i talked to Carmichael about it a few weeks ago when he was giving us brewers some tips. But I think I've got it figured out, we've got the grain for a small batch.

So what do you say? Shall we become the the first brewers of firewhisky in the post-apocalyptic world?

You know, I wish you lot would stop complaining about the alcohol. We know it's not good, all right? We know it, and we're working really bloody hard to make it better. But when all we ever hear is "This shite is terrible.", it's really hard to want to come here every day and do our jobs. How about telling us what we're doing right? What you like about one thing or another instead of just always negative? You don't hear us complaining about the food being shite or how we wish the farmers would grow more things, do you? They're doing the best they can, and doing a bloody good job of it. And so are we, you know. We're doing our best, and we're getting better.

And you know. If you know so much about how to brew beer and different wines and how to get started making whiskies with the very limited resources we have here, the door's open throughout the day, and we'd love any help any of you can give us. I'd guess you'd rather just bitch about though.

I'm really, really bloody glad that Mount Weather was still here when we got back. I was half-afraid it was going to be leveled by the hurricane.

People keep disappearing from here, much like we were from our own realities, and yet there seems to be a pervasive lack of curiosity as to where the missing were taken.

So, people of the mountain, what do you think? Is there some Maxwell's Demon at the lever, making sure to keep the ultimate metaphysical balance? Are they in some reality more hellish than this one? Was their disappearance intentional, and they're now being tortured for information? Perhaps we're all slowly descending the levels of Dante's hell, and one day we'll come face to face with Judas himself. Who knows? By then we could have all well earned our spots.
