So wow, okay. This whole complete mental break thing, or magic, or alternate universe, or whatever you want to call it - so, it's sticking. Bonus, looks like I haven't been smacked with the honesty stick today, but like that ever fucking stopped me. Contrary to what the step-douche thinks, I don't lie all that much anyway.

I guess I don't get what I'm doing here. Superheroes, smart people, strong people, whatever, okay. It's a magical menagerie. I'm just me. Chloe Price. No powers, no abilities if you don't count mad drumming ~skillz and the way I can piss off every authority figure in a twenty miles radius. I don't want to say I'm boring because please, I'm awesome, this is hella not a call for ego-stroking "ur so pretty" bullshit, but I mean, outside of the entire fucking universe having it out for me, I'm normal. Average. The only thing that's kinda whack in my life is Max's powers (not Max. Max isn't whack, unless we're totally cool-whack, in which case, girlfriend is hella whack). So maybe I'm whack by association?

So everyone's here either in a book or on TV or whatever. Is there a way to know where Max and I came from? Not in a deep existential BS way, just like... is there some jackass getting his rocks off watching me shower because I'm a character on a show? For example. 'Cause I'd like to at least get paid for that.

Tonight, a treat. I'm making my abuela's Mexican chocolate cake, for dessert in the mess. Adjusted, ever so slightly, to accommodate the supplies here, naturally. But I have been impressed this far by how stocked the kitchens are, given the circumstances outside. I am sure that credit goes to the growers, gatherers, and hunters. May your journeys be fruitful.

Veronica Mars, what have you got yourself into this time?

"It was never supposed to be this way." I figured I was done being shocked by the way life rips away my agency, that I'd never be so naive as to write those words in a journal, but here we are: four for you, Pod God, you got me good. I spent the last three years of my life trying to save enough money to get out of Neptune and now I'm so far from it that I can't find my way back.

Cry more, Veronica. Everyone's got a sob story. The ones who don't are the ones making them for other people. Now do what you do best, and detect.

Work's fine. Nathan W's one of the Specials - that's going to be the watchword from here on out for 'people who have something notable about them that may or may not be biologically improbable'. Sorry journal, I'm still too fresh to write "magic" down as a legitimate thing - but I don't know how, and I like him too much to snoop. He had some hints about how home was more of this same. At least I know what Rogue's trying to conquer. No handshakes of congratulations for her anytime soon, but at least she's angry. Anger is good. Hope lets you down, time and time again, but anger's always available to spur you on.

Back home Neptune's finest used to say "no body, no problem" as a way to keep from caring about teenage runaways under a certain income bracket. We're up to our eyeballs in bodies, here. Duplicates of that British woman, the ghosts of this mountain we're not supposed to talk about, characters from Harry Potter that died years and years and years ago and are back up walking around. FYI, I dropped 'hallucination' from my vocabulary when talking about you guys. Way too many syllables, and is it even true? EH. Does 'people' work? I think it works.

I know the snowfall out there looks pretty and it's going to be fun to play in, but we were hoping to have the outdoor test houses done before the winter weather started.

Once the snow stops I'm going to need a team to help clear the snow from the site so we can keep building, and then it's all hands on deck to get all this done before winter gets worse. If you've been helping, we need your help even more. If you haven't helped out with the housing, you can sure as hell volunteer.

We'll make sure it's almost as fun as building snowmen, promise!

It's been a very long time since I've seen this much snow. Or any snow come to think of it.

It is a good thing there are no vehicles here for Lito to drive, he does not handle stress well behind the wheel and I think he is at his limit as is.

I hope it is a good omen that I was brought here during Día de los Muertos, but I cannot say, yet. It is not what I expected for myself, but I would always be where Li I will strive to make the best of it. You have all made much of this world, despite circumstances.
