How curious. Among the objects in the pod that recently dropped was the elven orb that Corypheus had. I have claimed it, of course. It appears to predate Corypheus' possession of it as it bears no signs of any foreign magic, certainly nothing like rift magic or the corruption we have seen from red lyrium.

In this world, the teacup can shatter ad infinitum Despite last week's little upset, I have found the fishing in this world to be akin to my own. Letting the river flow, waiting patiently for the quarry and baiting the hook are similar no matter where your feet are planted.

And I feel as though I have a good idea of the selection here to begin crafting our lures. I will not share.

All right. I'm swallowing my considerable pride and going public because I don't have another option.

It has been interesting to see how the Fade has been becoming more complex since I have been here as the memories of the people in this place add to it. I have been reluctant to venture near these new memories. While I have often viewed memories in the Fade, they have always been older memories, often of people long past. There is no intrusion with those memories, only history to be seen and lessons to be learned, but these new memories are sharp and often raw and to view them would be rude.

The butterflies that appeared today were quite beautiful. I have never seen their like before. I think even in trying times, perhaps especially so, there is some worth in appreciating something so beautiful and fragile.

Question for my fellow Thedosians. (Maker, who even uses that word? Thedasians? Thedesians? Whatever.)

Summerday should be coming up, but the calendar's all funny. Do we want to do something to celebrate? Should we just pick a day?



Okay, new question: when is the official first day of summer here, do you all know? Back home we usually spend part of the morning at the Chantry -- especially the young ones who are ready to take on adulthood, it's a whole thing, I don't think we have anyone here young enough for it -- and then the rest of the day is a party. It's the preferred time for weddings, too, something about luck and divine something something. I'm guessing Andraste was a summer person.



One more thing: I'm not what you'd call the most religious person in the world, but some of us should get together and ... I don't know. I just know I'd feel better with something resembling a Chantry or a corner or a space or something. I'm shit with art, are any of us good with statues? Do we have anything to make a statue with?

Now that the metaphorical dust has had time to settle, I believe it might be an opportune time to venture into the Fade to see what, if anything, has become of the spirit of Hope.

I also wish to do a more detailed examination of the Fade itself. I am troubled that the spirit was not able to return. It may be that there are further differences in the Fade that are not immediately obvious.

Needless to say, due to the oddities here, I thought it prudent to inform you of my plans.

I've been told I should introduce myself. I am Cullen Rutherford, Commander of the Army of the Inquisition. I have been assigned to the military here as well. This is stupid and I sound stupid. I feel as if I am talking to myself. I like to play chess. I hope I do not have to stay here long before being returned home.

Those of you who fought the Despair demon: you fought bravely and well.

DEMON PATROL (i.e. anyone who's helping Asala&Co. look for the demon; you can be in this filter even if you didn't drop a comment in her post asking for help):

A lot of people will go to the movie, so we should put most of our focus around the mess hall tonight. The demon may be attracted to them. I'll be with that group.

I also want a couple of people watching the hospital. At least one person the demon's attacked is still there, and it may come back for seconds.

Everyone else, I need you in the halls and tunnels as you've been.

THEDAS PEOPLE & FRIENDS (if you think you are one, you probably are):

I think this demon problem is my fault. I'd come clean in public but I don't want to be strung up.

The recent deaths were no accident. We all know that by now. I'm starting to suspect that the suicide wasn't natural. He was pushed by something bigger than himself.

I think we have a despair demon on our hands. The spirit who was wandering around last month may have been corrupted; I can't seem to find it the way it was, and it disappeared right around when the first man died. It had contact with someone who made it turn. Spirits react to the living things around them, and Hope is too delicate to do well outside the Fade.

The Veil is so weak here the demon may be slipping in and out of it, but we must find it before it kills someone else. I'm not a soldier or a guard here, but I have experience with this. It's smart to listen to me. I want help tracking this demon; it's resistant to ice magic but vulnerable to fire, and it attacks at range, so ranged fighters are a necessity.

This is not a good time to practice fighting. This is a bad first mission. I need patrols and reliable warriors and mages, but only from people with experience. I don't know how strong this demon is right now and I won't lose any more people to it because someone wanted to overestimate themselves.



In the meantime, if anyone is feeling particularly upset, depressed or miserable, or if you feel the need to hurt yourself or other people, it's not real. Something else is giving you those feelings, or amplifying them. Don't be afraid to ask for help to get you through it until I can find this thing.


THEDAS PEOPLE:

We have to pray this demon is relatively weak. I don't know exactly what my rift magic will do to the Veil, so I won't be using that or the Mark to fight it.

There's something to be said about people who decide to come clean about what secrets they may be keeping. As for me, my reasons are similar to others. I've always tried to be straightforward, but like many of us, this is the first time I'm surrounded by people I don't know.

All the more reason to be honest, right? For now, this is our home, and we need to learn to trust one another. If I'm going to make a life for myself here, then I need to start off by not keeping secrets.

I was born as a werewolf. I know that sounds strange, I'm familiar with lore and it's typically not passed down genetically, but for my family it was. My grandmother was scratched, and it was passed down to my mother and then to me. Some of you may be familiar with story of Little Red Riding Hood? That's me. Sort of. I mean my life was very different from the children's tale.

I can promise you all that you have nothing to fear from me. When I said my story wasn't like most lore, it's true. I'm not bound by the moon, well I sort of am. I can change whenever I want, but get the strong desire to do so when there is a full moon. I'm also completely human in my mind when I am a wolf. I was taught how to control myself.

So there you have it. I know it's a lot to take in, especially with others coming out with their secrets as well, but it's honestly better this way. I know from experience that keeping secrets does more harm than good.

Now I really need an alcoholic drink.

I'm seeing rumors around that we may have a spirit with us.

If I'm right and it's one that I'd recognize, I have to ask you all not to panic or be unkind to it. It's probably confused but benign, even if it's saying things that are personal. If it's not attacking you, it's not really dangerous. It's just trying to fulfill its purpose, whatever that may be. If you've had an encounter with it, please come talk to me and Solas and tell us what it said. If we figure out what it's a spirit of, we might be able to help it and encourage it to stay away from people.

I know I shouldn't believe the rumors flying around but some of them sound so exciting. Did you know that the Grounders are sabotaging us from the inside? I'm still not sure if they're meant to look like regular people or monsters.
