Dec. 29th, 2015

Well, Christmas happened, and we all got through it. Well done. Although I wonder if we wouldn't be better off to celebrate a different holiday at this time next year. Maybe not something for the Podsayer, but a general thanks for the people we have here, and for the shelter we have and the fact that we do have food, clothing, and loved ones surrounding us, even if they're new to us. Americans had their Thanksgiving, and maybe we should to, at Winter Solstice.

Someday, we're going to have bloody boring lives, with no madness like we just had. I'm glad everyone's all right, and you'll all be glad to know that somehow the greenhouse was left out of the fun. It's still in tact, which means that all of the plants held within are still there, and thriving. Unfortunately, the roses that we were trying to grow in the hydroponics rooms inside the moutain fell victim to Bloody Mary, so we won't be planting any come spring. I have snagged a few of the pointsettias, though, and they'll be transplanted soon. They'll be a nice addition to the plant life here, I think.

It might be a Tuesday, but I'm thinking about checking out that new Tavern I've been hearing about. It's been a long couple of weeks adjusting to things here. It's time to drink it away. Who's in?

[Neville]
How are the flowers out in the green houses doing?

[Snow]
There are a lot less politics in Animal Husbandry than there were with running the Farm. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not yet. How are you holding up?

[Bigby Wolf]
You and I haven't talked a whole lot since I arrived. I'm not even sure if you know me. Snow said you came from an earlier point in time than us. So, hi? I'm Rose Red, Snow's sister. I doubt she's even mentioned me.

I've found a body. It's that older man, Jian, one of the Sky People. I'm going to stay here with him until you can get down here to get him. I work with his grandson. We're in the residential corridor on 5.

Law enforcement, I've already magically put up some barriers to keep people away. But you lot are all on it so you'll be able to get through without any trouble. He's got a daughter, son-in-law, and a grandson who lives in the residences on 6.

One of the interesting bits about being a farmer here is that instead of being on Mother Nature's schedule, we're on a greenhouse schedule, more or less. In the hydroponics areas here, we've got a year-round schedule for growing the important crops, and because it's nice to have some variety, we're adding in some extras where we have room. The nice bit is that these extras will provide some extra nutrients and other good bits that plants need to do their business.

In other words, we're putting in flowers in hydroponics, and when they start blooming you lot should come and smell the buttercups and the violets. We're working on starting some roses for the memorial garden, as well.

Well, this is certainly different. And while the explanation was very concise, I have a couple more questions.

1. Where's the library?
2. Harry Potter. Where the bloody hell are you?
3. And that goes for the rest of you too.

Oh, and last but not least.

RONALD WEASLEY, YOU DO NOT JUST ASK THAT IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIGHT!

Ha. You lot will like this. I got my remembrall in that pod that landed a few days ago. And it's gone missing. Already.

Also, I've made a new friend in the greenhouse. I've named it Trevor II. Be kind to him.

I had someone tell me the other day that I'm starting to look like a lumberjack. Thanks?

The support systems for the Ark over at Camp Jaha have gone down, and they haven't been able to repair them. Mount Weather is going to be taking in a lot of people rather quickly, and they need our help. The best place to set up some temporary housing is in the warehouses, and so we'll be doing that. First things first will be going through and putting as much as we can into storage. Small and portable would be best, so some containers that are bigger on the inside will be necessary. We'll also be putting some spells up to enlarge the warehouses to accommodate all the people, and they'll need warming charms. Anyone who is proficient at creating portkeys needs to also make themselves known to Snow White so that she can begin coordinating transport of the people.

We need all of you on this, even Snape and Pettigrew. There's a lot of work to be done and we have to get it done within a few days. We'll meet in the larger warehouse just after breakfast. Make sure you eat early, yeah?

And I just found out that we're going to need to duplicate some bedding for these incing people. So any of you who're good at that sort of thing, we'll set you on that. I know a few of you are, at least.

For those of you working in the greenhouses and hydroponics: we're in a bit of a lull in our growing seasons, so unless you want to hang out and look at the empty growing beds, we'll all be out helping to put together the houses. From what I've been told, this is good, because once winter hits, we won't be getting out of the mountain as much.

I miss baby you. You got so big and I've had no time to adjust.

LILY LUNA POTTER:
I feel like I don't know you. And that's awful. And I told you that your parents split up. I'm the worst mum.

HARRY POTTER:
Oi, you. So.

Here's the thing. And I'm not saying it in person because this texting thing is grand. I can get everything out and not worry about you looking at my face, and I can edit what I have to instead of just vomiting up words and hoping they come out all right.

You should move back in with me. For real. For good. I know I've been leading you on a bit, and I wasn't trying to lead you anywhere, but I wasn't saying yes or no and now I'm saying yes. Yes, okay, let's give this another go, you and me. If you want me, I'm here. And I want you.

I don't want it to go back to how it was, because how it was was broken. I want it to be better than it was, because we're better, and sometimes I just look at your face and I hate how much I want to kiss it.

I miss you, is what I'm saying.

This is all very overwhelming, but I'm certain I won't be the first or last to say that. I've come to understand there are a large populations of those of us who don't belong to this 'world'? But you've all built a community here together which is admirable and comforting for whatever duration I'm to be here. I'm quite thankful for the warm welcomes thus far, but I figured it might be rude of me to continue going on without having introduced myself where everyone can see me. I am Minerva McGonagall, professor of Transfiguration at a school of magic in another world (that will never quite stop sounding odd, will it?). Here, however, I'll be serving as a blacksmith.

I was also informed there has just been a battle, and I'd like to send my condolences to those that have lost and those that have been wounded. If there are any of you who need repairs, particularly on items that have been enchanted, please do not hesitate to ask for them. I will do my best to bring anything brought to me back to its former glory.

We have seen war, and we have come out the other side of it. Our foe was mighty but broken, and we mourn their loss as we mourn the loss of our own. Their lives were no less important as our own. The battlefield is where fortitude and courage are tested. Your bravery is commended, and I would like to extend a hand in friendship and loyalty to all.

Our enemy came with hopes of retribution against a people who wished them no harm, and that was their downfall. I have no doubts that if they had come to us for aid instead of blood, we would have taken them in the same way the Sky People have taken us Pod People in: with open arms and an eagerness to help.

Today, we mourn the loss of life as much as we celebrate that we still have ours. I ask that you take those suffering injuries into your hearts, and we wish them an easy recovery. I ask that we take a moment to reflect on our good fortune and remember those who gave their lives to protect this community. They will not be forgotten.

This isn't easy to say, so I'll make it blunt and to the point.

Eddie Carmichael was bitten last night. The doctor I talked to says that he's in critical condition. They're keeping a close eye on him, but there's no guarantee that he'll make it.

There were others of ours hurt, but they'll be fine. Right now, it's Eddie we need to worry about.

When I was a little girl out in the country, my brother got himself a case of poison ivy all over his shins during one of our many cricket matches. We put cucumbers on the rash to soothe the burn.

Unless medical has a poison ivy wonder drug, cucumbers would work. If there are cucumbers here, that is.

I mostly made sense of the explaination I got given. Or, well, okay not so much all of it. But I figure that will follow and I know the people here mean well.

So I guess now I need to know how I help? Till I get home I mean. I'm working as a farmer which is fair. I'm good with plants and things. But is there anything else I can do? What do people do around here for fun, social stuff?

OH also, I'm Iliana. Because, duh, I should do the intro thing properly.

Who: The inhabitants of Mount Weather
When: This afternoon, at 2 p.m.
Where: The greenhouse
What: Dedication of the Memorial Garden in the southeast corner of the greenhouse
Rating: Low

Today was the dedication of the memorial garden. Everyone was invited to attend. At the gate to the garden, large flats of flowers were available. People can either take one, put it in a pot, and keep it with them, or plant it themselves after the dedication. One section of the garden was purposefully left unfinished for today. There was a moment of silence for those no longer with them in whatever way. In an attempt to incorporate as much of the recent history of the world as possible, those Sky People and Grounders that have died were named, as well as all of those who have died since the Pod People started arriving.

After that, the floor was open to people to speak, sing, recite poetry, or anything they can think of. Neville began with himself, which I'll detail in a comment, and then he asked Chancellor Griffin to speak, and Steve Rogers and Asala Adaar. After that, he would ask that people take turns and be courteous.

The dedication ended with the planting of the flowers in the garden, with the farmers helping people individually, as well as anyone who has experience gardening.

Congratulations, Steve and Adaar. You'll do Mount Weather proud, I know it. I look forward to working with the both of you, as a citizen of this mountain.

I don't remember if I've mentioned this -- tomorrow is the dedication ceremony for the Memorial Garden. It'll be held at 2 p.m., and I'd like to invite both Steve and Adaar, as well as Chancellor Griffin and anyone else who wants to, to join me in speaking. Or sing a song, or anything that comes to you as we gather. This will be a time of remembrance for those who lived here with us and were taken away too soon, whether by death or returning to their homes. After that, the garden will be open every day from dawn to sunset, and anyone is welcome to make use of it.

The garden is coming along pretty well! It won't look it's best until next spring and summer, but for now it'll be just what we want it to be: a restful place, a bit of an escape. We've got a bit of a fountain set up, and the benches will be installed any day. Come autumn, we'll plant some summer bulbs and transfer a few of the autumn plants in to give us some color. Right now we're looking at it actually being completely open somewhere around the beginning of August, and we'll have another ceremony then.
