I'll also mention that this is a safe zone. You heckle, bully, shame or insult anyone, and you'll be escorted out. And you don't want me as your enemy, trust me on that. I work with needles.

It has been so many years since I was that age that I forgot the feeling of it. Much has happened since.

The magic of this place is very intriguing. To whoever was responsible, I commend the breadth of your skill, in spite of the discomfort.

All confusions aside (and there are many), what a waste of a perfectly good mountain. Where are the mines?

My brother is gone.

It is easy to refrain from speaking truths that are forced from one, when one buries himself in work. I thank all who did not seek me out during this time.

I suppose this is as good as a next adventure as any, though I wouldn't have minded just a bit more time to enjoy the Shire before being brought here. Living underground is quite interesting, as well.

Guess it wouldn't be proper to not introduce myself now, would it? I'm Bilbo. Bilbo Baggins, of the Shire. I know at least one of my roommates, it seems. Is anyone else here who knows me? Gandalf, by chance? I daresay I only brought enough pipe weed to last a month. Goodness knows what I'll do if I run out.

I am told that this is not my first time here, and that it is not unusual for those that return to not remember their time here at all. I am still reeling from the welcome I received, as one does not expect to be attacked by women of glass, nor to discover that one's weapon can provide means for them to multiply. I am, however, pleased to have been of service and to help in some small way.

To those of you who had no chance to meet me in my prior visits, I am Thorin Oakenshield. To those of you who knew me before, please make yourselves known to me, that we may rekindle friendships.

I really, really used to like Halloween, you know? I'm not sure I'm down with all the spooky stuff again yet, but thank you for the pumpkins. Mine are all carved up now and it's like having a little bit of home.


I'm also going to start a little support group for those of us who died back home, or know that we die at home. Sunday nights, if that works? You don't have to sign up. If there's no one using the commons in 501 tonight, the first Life Support meeting is going to start tonight at 7:30. The only thing I ask is that you only attend if you died at home or know that you die at home and need help coping, and we're reserving the right to turn people away if they make other members of the group uncomfortable.

Filter to Kili, Fili

I would be close to my kin. Tomorrow I will have us all moved into the same quarters.

My head is still cloudy and full of the dreams which I had while under the influence of the medicine of man, but my nephew tells me that I must use this small window to tell you that I am here. I am Thorin Oakenshield, King of Erebor, leader of the House of Durin. It has been explained to me, but I still find it ridiculous that a man can share the face of a hobbit. I also wonder, in my thickheadedness from the herbs used to keep me asleep as I begin to heal, who this mysterious you is, to whom I am introducing myself.

I am also told that I have been here before, yet I have no memory of this.

That was unpleasant. It is unusual for a dwarf to be susceptible to human diseases. I remember that from when Erebor and Dale were at their finest. There were only a few of the human diseases that would affects us and they were only the most common ones - colds and fevers and whatnot. Oin had an explanation as to why those could trouble us while others did not but I confess I have forgotten what it was.

Whatever power it is that has brought us all here has seen fit to now bring to me that which I sought at home. The Heart of the Mountain. I can scarcely believe that I now hold my grandfather's greatest treasure in my hands, though I feel some frustration that I am so far from home and cannot celebrate with my kin and Company.

I like to think I don't rely on my cane but it is a pain in the ass without it.

So, question: anyone have a long stick they'd be willing to let me borrow?

Shit Condolences to everyone who lost a friend today.

I know we don't want to think about this, but someone needs to start digging graves. We can help with that. My brother and I didn't know anyone who died, so it's not as much trouble for us.

Am I the only one getting restless?

We have some metal in the forge which contains enough impurities to make it unsuitable for any practical use, however it would still be suitable for ornamental purposes. While I cannot give such things priority over my normal work, if anyone wishes to have some sort of jewellery made, I would be more than willing to do so in my spare time.
