The 100; a panfandom game

The sky is the sky, yes? You look up at night, and there are the moons and the stars, and unless you're a scholar you likely don't know more than a single constellation or two. The rest are simply the vast mass of stars, largely indistinguishable from one another.

That was what I thought, at any rate. On patrol tonight, though, I looked up at the sky above, and it wasn't only the fact that we have but one moon here that seemed odd. It was the stars. I couldn't even tell you the names of more than two or three stars in the sky I know, but I can look up into this sky and know that it is not the one I slept under before.

It's a very odd feeling. One thing to know, another to realize.

A very old copy of Sense and Sensibility was ripped out of my hands today while I was in the library, by some strange man I have never seen before. He was very, very shouty and he threw it at the wall and now it is ruine. He's ginger, he wore a sort of waistcoat, he had spectacles on. Who is this man?

I'm very sorry to report that for those of us who knew and liked Harry Hart, he has returned to his home. Or I assume he has, as he hasn't shown for work in some days, nor have I seen him at mealtimes. Regardless, he was always kind and courteous, and that's a very special sort of person.


I also would like to mention that the Mount Weather Book Club is meeting again tonight, and we're most likely going to finish our read-through of Fellowship of the Ring, and depending on how we feel, we may discuss it and then start The Two Towers next week, or start it and end with a discussion of the first and the beginning of the second. I'll also be taking suggestions for what we might read next, once we are finished with The Return of the King. :)

I have now finished the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit, and now we I have begun The Once and Future King. I must say that whatever this world may lack, you have done a fine job with literature here. Your people tell grand stories of great heroes who are nonetheless very easy to see as people, not only a list of deeds.

It's odd how few women there are in them, though.

I'd just like to remind everyone that Saturday evening we'll most likely finish our reading of The Hobbit out loud, and if everyone is fine with it, we can start Fellowship of the Ring next Saturday, unless we all want to take a small break from Mr. Tolkien and delve into something new and different. Everyone is invited to join us, we take over the common area in 501 during the film, and read aloud for a few hours.
