The sky is the sky, yes? You look up at night, and there are the moons and the stars, and unless you're a scholar you likely don't know more than a single constellation or two. The rest are simply the vast mass of stars, largely indistinguishable from one another.

That was what I thought, at any rate. On patrol tonight, though, I looked up at the sky above, and it wasn't only the fact that we have but one moon here that seemed odd. It was the stars. I couldn't even tell you the names of more than two or three stars in the sky I know, but I can look up into this sky and know that it is not the one I slept under before.

It's a very odd feeling. One thing to know, another to realize.

[Penelope]
I owe you an apology for the other night. It's not as if I don't know that I sleep poorly after a bad day. I ought to have warned you.

You owe me no apologies, darling. You were able to sleep again, and I'm glad I was there to help you.

You are too kind, my love. Thank you.

The nightmares aren't as bad as they used to be. Seeing the Warden Commander again after so many years just had me thinking too much on the past, I think.

I will always listen, should you need to speak of it, Cullen. I not only serve as very nice cuddler, I also have ears, and they will always be happy to hear your voice.

Does it bother you, to wake from a nightmare and find me there with you?

I know you would. I am simply not in the habit of speaking of any of the things that disturb my sleep. But no, it does not bother me in the least to find you there. If anything, it is a comfort. I only hope that it doesn't trouble you too much.

What troubles me is seeing you troubled. I would have all your dreams sweet and trouble-free. If my presence comforts you, then you will find it difficult to remove me from your bed.

Why would I ever want to remove you from my bed?

I am trying very hard to find a plausible reason, and I simply can not. I believe I must be the perfect bed partner!

Why do we have separate apartments?

Perhaps I might. Kaidan told me a bit about that, when I had first come here. The thought of it is astonishing to me, as it is completely impossible on my home world.

I hope you can be in the sky one day then. In some world.

I don't know if I hope I can or if that's the most frightening notion I've ever considered.

No, it is certainly not Earth. Our minerals are different, the laws of nature are different...I doubt if it is in this dimension, much less this planet.

Makes me wonder. I've traveled a lot of places in the galaxy, and seen the stars from plenty of different angles.

I wonder if you could draw the night sky you're used to seeing and the positions of the stars and I could compare it to charts I have, see if I could pinpoint a location.

Probably not, but I have free time.

I spent a couple of years with insomnia and a hole in my roof. It's a rather limited selection of stars that I know well, but I could give you that much, at least.

That would actually be very nice. I never had any particular interest in them at home, but yes. I would like to know the stars here.

Come on outside with me. I have a giant gauntlet that punches stuff to death, so they let me out without needing a guard. If the sky's clear, I'll name what I can remember.
