CLARKE GRIFFIN:

You were right the other day. I should know better, and I should keep some things to myself around other people. They don't need to know everything.

But we still need to talk.

COMMAND AND MILITARY:

Scouts just got back. Lexa's contingent is bigger than we were expecting and they're an hour or two out. I'm going to ride out to meet them halfway. Lincoln, Octavia, Bellamy? Unless you're putting out a fire, you're coming with me. We'll radio back if there's any problem.

I love Clarke. There. I said it. I've never said that about someone before.

I thought saying it was supposed to feel better than this, but I just feel like an idiot.

Christmas was never something we cared about. I'm not talking about the people from the Ark in general, even though we had a lot of cultures all mixed in together up. Octavia and I never had much growing up. It was just us and our mother, and she did what she could to keep us fed and clothed, and there wouldn't have been a lot left over for presents. But we had each other. That mattered more than anything else our mother could have given us. She gave us each other.

I read about what Christmas was like, years ago, and I've heard bits and pieces from people here. I know some people celebrate a religious figure's birth, and others just give each other gifts. No matter where you look, though, there's one aspect of it that different groups have in common: it's a time to spend with the people you love, whatever your definition of that is. It's a season of giving, of gratefulness, of generosity, of kindness, of togetherness. I admit, I've never been good at being grateful. In my life, there hasn't been much to be grateful for.

We don't have a lot here. I know that's hard for some of you, to be without the comforts of your old lives and without the people you care about. But one thing we do have is each other. Good or bad, we're all in this life together now. You were brought here against your will, or forced to accommodate someone from a world we don't understand -- either way, we ended up in the same place.

This kind of thing isn't my strong suit. Clarke's the brains of the two of us. But I know when I've been approaching something wrong, and when it needs to change. I'm tired of hardly understanding any of you. If there's anything we should celebrate at the end of this year and into the next, it's that despite all the odds stacked against us, we're still here. We've come from all different walks of life, and none of us would be the same without each other. That's what I'm grateful for this year. We still don't have much, but we have each other.

I knew it wasn't safe here like people kept saying.

Can we just ponder for a moment about the absurdity of our lives? There is a woman who can travel through reflective surfaces to kill us. This is our actual reality.

MILITARY:

I need volunteers to cover empty shifts on the prison rotation. The transfer may need to become permanent.

Chatter down on this end is that Emerson turned up dead in his cell. Anyone heard anything? Everyone's got their skirts in a bunch over it. Know what this means?

We've a mystery on our hands! Brilliant, right? Something to do that's not drawing the bloody treeline. Thank you, Emerson; your horrific murder is well-timed and awfully thoughtful.

Oh, and God rest your soul and all that, if that's what you're into.

I know there's a library here but is anyone writing down what's happening now? So we have a record of this history for whoever comes after us?

I know I'm supposed to want a fair trial, but I wish Fox's dad had killed him.

... speed dating is all very well and good, but what about Christmas? Are we doing Christmas? Please, I do hope that Christmas didn't also get ballasted to smithereens. I know that there is much to be anxious about, but much to be thankful for too. I fervently hope that Christmas will occur.

Again I fear that I live in a land where it is always winter and never Christmas. As the snow flies deep and regular, I cannot help but be reminded of Jadis in the days before our rule. Indeed, when I am about my patrols, I cannot help but listen for the jangle of sleigh bells.

Fate would not bring her to me without you, without Peter, without Edmund? Fate could not ...

This place is full of death. Stinks of it. All the lights snuffed out like a candle.

The world seems grey. No red, no colours. It used to be bright and crimson. Now, it's all dim like. Greys and browns. Like mud and dirt. I miss the red.

Thank you, to the generous soul who was patient enough to teach me this... device. It's fascinating. Bell would either love it or hate it, probably a bit of both since he still hasn't completed his "phonic telegraph" but this would likely give him even more inspiration.


This world is alarmingly different from my own, but they explained things sufficiently. I'm Dame Evie Frye and while I suppose titles don't matter much here... it's still new and I like it, but Evie is fine. When my brother Jacob inevitably shows - because he will, and mark my words he'll be late as that's what he does - I apologize in advance for his behaviour. He'll undoubtedly be crass and rude, and I suggest knocking him out or tranquilizing him. Unless he arrives today, because it happens to be our birthday. But don't feel obligated to be nice to him on that account.

If you don't mind my asking, what year did the destruction happen? I had heard the Americas made it out with quite a few casualties from their civil war, but nothing nearly this bad.

BELLAMY BLAKE:

CLARKE, RAVEN, MURPHY:

Did you guys get anything in the drop today?

COMMAND:

We've got a situation in Camp Jaha. The support systems have all gone dead for the remnants of the ship. Without heat or other facilities, they will not survive.

I recommend that we move to find room here for the citizens, while mobilizing to find a way to fix the systems there, if it can be done. I'll get with intake and admin staff to work on where we can fit people in the meantime. We may have to squeeze in more than 4 to a housing unit.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've seen a couple reports of belongings going missing, so if you're missing something and it hasn't been returned to you, come find me. I'll take a description and we'll keep a list. I already started one for everything that was taken and returned. If you noticed anything, or you hear anything, come find me. I don't want all our stuff to keep getting mysteriously swapped.

If you're behind it, now's a good time to come forward. I think we'd all appreciate some answers.

CLARKE GRIFFIN:

Now that we don't have to worry about me falling through the floor or you electrocuting me while we're drunk, take a night off with me. Belated birthday present from me to you. I know we have a lot to do before Lexa gets here, I know, but you can afford one night off.
