It really doesn't feel as though it's most of the way through spring, with the way winter dragged on so long. And yet here we are, the season half gone, and I can't say I'm sorry for it since it means summer is coming all the sooner. Even if I do have to overhaul my wardrobe to suit.

Cards tonight, isn't it? I feel like I need to be social, with another roommate disappearing. I'm sorry to those who knew Cassandra better.

Saluti, Mount Weather. I am Claudia Auditore, and I arrived this morning with my daughter, Giuliana. We are far from home, which is Italy - though if you know my brother Ezio, you likely already knew that of me.

I am to be a teacher, here, and I have a great deal of experience imparting knowledge to children and women. For instance, the last several years I have been Madame of the most popular brothel in Roma, and the ladies there have benefited greatly from my studies. I am told you lack the brothel, so I shall be content to teach the knowledge to the children instead.

And anything you might have heard from my brother is likely untrue or exaggerated, he is a terrible storyteller. I also feel much sympathy if you had to listen to any tales of his romantic life, he likes to go on and on about it.

It isn't necessarily true that building yourself into several different narratives is a bad thing. In doing it, you do rather find what kind of stuff you're made from. And I still miss those who knew me best, but finding that sympatico across worlds is quite good, too.

So cheers to the lot of you for still being here. Truthfully, as I appreciate what I learned in that other town ... what are we calling it, everyone? Mount Weather seems a more solid ground beneath my feet.

That being said -- Crafts, hullo! I'm 100% in need of a catch up.

As much as the universe keeps trying to tell me otherwise, I do my damnedest not to believe in God anymore or magic or voodoo or whatever. But just after we win a big fight, then this world takes away over a hundred people in trade for a pile of nightmare-fuel hero masks?

You know, back home, people don't travel much. Perhaps to the shore, if they're wealthy, but we never were, and besides, immigrants at the seaside? That aren't working on the boardwalk? Horrors. For the most part, you grow up with the expectation that you'll do either your father's or your mother's profession, and you won't leave the town that you were born in because what's the point? What are you looking for out there?

Well, I was looking for my sister. She'd run off a few nights before, and when we woke up to her empty room and missing traveling clothes we knew where she'd gone. There's only one place desperate people go to where I'm from, and that's Yharnam. Laila had been sick - dying, really, honestly, but none of us had voiced it. It was just Laila's malady, Laila's affliction, and then it was Laila's gone. I went after her, because I'm stupid and hopeful and thought that maybe Yharnam couldn't be all that bad, and it wasn't, actually, it was worse than bad.

I'd never been out of Aldergate before. Neither had Laila. I never found her, you know. I looked everywhere. And then all that mess happened - magic unto prophecy unto ancient rune unto hubris - and then I was here. Mount Weather! Brand new place, brave new world. Do you know how far I've traveled now? So much farther than my father or mother did, even with that ocean they crossed back in the yesteryear. So much distance to have so little to show for it.

I suppose what I'm rambling about - sorry, my point's buried under self-pity - is that for all the reasons that this place is so strange to me, so unknowable, so unlike home, it's nonetheless SO LIKE home. All these people coming in and out of our lives with nary a trail to amble on or a string of fate to pull, and what are we left with? A hope, and our feet itching to follow, if we care to. I always care to.

I miss them. I miss her. Is that too sentimental? Well, others were always better at the stiff upper lip.

Anything to distract fr The concept of voting to herald in a new leader is strange to me, although I understand that it is quite common to many of you. It literally gives the power to the masses, does it not? Interesting concept, even as I am skeptical of it. Yharnam functioned as an independent city-state, of course, and was constantly at war with the city-states it was geographically near. The Church organised the city and determined which cleric sat on which borough. It was an imperfect system, as it tended to favour familial dynasties rather than opportunity for advancement for everyone, but as the purity of one's blood was vital to being respected, familial inheritance was the only way to control who took seats of power.

So, voting. How interesting! I have done so. I can see the appeal, I suppose, although what does one do if one is not happy with the results? Is there recourse? Objection? Fights to the death? There was a son who was granted the head of the Choir back home who many hated due to his constant trips to the lower wards of the Cathedral district (I believe it is referred to as 'red light' in this vernacular). Many objected to what they perceived to be his moral failings. There was objection to his post, the Choir rallied, and they never found his head in the end. Politics are fascinating stuff.

Peter would not have done it this way. Aslan may not most likely would not approve. Perhaps that's why He I know better than that. He will come when He comes, and that time will be best. If He doesn't come, He will send.

Well, let's just say that my brothers have always been better at giving rallying speeches. I leave it to them.

All I know, is that I trust you. I trust the life that you made here, and I trust our unified cause -- to protect it. Jadis collected enemies from every single world represented. And as much as she thought it would be harrowing, I believe she misunderstands us still. For we are all now experts. And when it comes time to fight, and we know it will, there are those of us with the expertise to bring our foes to bear.

Perhaps share a secret or a remembrance from your time here?

With the batch of Podkru we lost a month ago, it's become clear that we've lost quite a few positions. Several of our jobs are dangerously low on staff. Unfortunately, they're all pretty important to make sure this place runs. If anyone has any kind of experience or would like to switch positions (or even take a few hours volunteering), you would be so helpful.

The positions we're desperately in need of are:
  • Farmers
  • Fishers
  • Radio Operators
  • Nurses
  • Laundry Services
  • Shoemakers
I know these positions aren't the most prestigious but they are vital. I'm taking on ever shifts in fishing, radio, and laundry when I'm not out of the compound. If you can help, please do.

An ominous scare tactic.

Additionally, there's a lot to be said for a well-fitting suit.

My concern is less that the Witch managed to get access to the comm system and more that she seems to know anything at all of the people in the mountain and their desires. Assuming she's never been inside and hasn't had a great deal of contact with us that hasn't ended in stone, I worry about the implications of her knowledge and what else she may know.

We seemed to have a similar mindset before. Do we again, sergeant?

I do not even know how to word this, but I have been informed that there may be those among you that might be able to help. Not long ago, I suffered a bout of amnesia and while a fair amount of my memory has returned, there are still some gaps from the last eight years. I do not know if there is some way to aid the process of recovering lost memories.

Honestly, you're all just about the most fantastic configuration of misf individuals I've ever met. You're insanely talented, gifted and moreover passionate about justice. I've seen you route your energy to beat the bloody snot out of one another and then, turn about to defend your space and it's really quite something.

I admittedly miss my friends. I miss Howard Stark's mad hatting capabilities, though you should all be quite glad he's not here. We'd have a lot of trouble on our hands otherwise. I also frequently think about Mr. Jarvis and his wife Ana, the latter who I'd only recently met. I'm glad they have time to themselves - I wouldn't dare separate them - but they have that air of familiarity and camaraderie I'm only beginning to build with all of you. They know the world as I know it.

There are others, of course. Rose and Angie, Dum Dum and even bloody Jack Thompson. They know me as I am known. And I cannot hope for their presence here.

My writing this is simply to say I hope you do not lose heart. Women such as this Jadis merely serve to remain in hiding to garner power and wear away at the nerves of those who would seek to subdue her. It's what I would do, anyway, if I were a megalomaniacal half-giantess witch.

So, cheers.

Well. I'm here! I tried not being here, briefly, but nothing happened, so... here I am! Hello, Mount Weather. I'm to be a washer of dishes, which is a refreshing change from my previous job titles. I'm a bit flummoxed about the whole "fictional" thing - yet working through it - and on the whole am well delighted to be a guest in your lovely... town? fortress? hideaway? ...bungalow? until I figure out how to return once more to Yharnam and put everything back the way it's supposed to be.

My name's Sami - Sam's fine - and I like pastries, history, the soppiest of love stories and killing things that need killing. I'm also, incidentally, in a bit of a pickle. You see, I'm trying to figure out how to errrrrrrrrr be a God STRIKE FEAR IN THE HEART OF MAN get used to recent changes in my life, and mostly, that's just led to public intoxication. Not that alcohol really works on me, so I just have to make it work on me, but that's neither here nor there. Where's the pub? That'd be lovely, thank you.

List ongoing; too many possibilities and too many variables to consider when the timeline is open to us. But it's Fenhoff, I think, that worries me the most from our own universe. The other possibilities are too endless to consider in any sort of logistical way.

However, every arrival and every departure screws my courage to the sticking place. The possibility is very real that one day, my brother could come waltzing through the door and not simply another with his face and when I think of it, I don't know what to do with myself. Howard would be easier. Howard would be ten kinds of delight - the one who never left, whose wounds never bled. But Michael, I think, would be my joy and my undoing.

Due to the departure of the Chess Club's founders, Obi-Wan and I have decided we will host the club ourselves so that it may continue.

We do, however, hope to bring a different energy to the club under our direction. Neither of us plays professionally or competitively; we are enthusiastic amateurs who enjoy chess matches as a pastime. We do not have a dogmatic view of what is or is not "real chess". We welcome your adaptations, multitasking, and more. Play it however you bloody want. If you would like to introduce the club to a variant of chess that you know and love, we'd be happy to assist you in sharing that.

Thank you again to everyone who participated in the wizard's chess set trials. I believe we have now perfected them, and they will continue to be available at the Chess Club to those who wish to play it.

As this all comes suddenly before the last meeting of the month, this month's Chess Tournament will be cancelled. We will still meet tomorrow night to play. We hope to see you there.

So, there are people here who have powers -- in some worlds known as magic -- and those so-called powers are completely unbound by any scientific force or general rule?

    Am I getting that right?
