Hey guys. So Thorin's gone, right? And he used to live in the same apartment you're all in. At least I think he did. Violet talked to me about that before.

I was wondering if you've seen a gem around the room anywhere, or in his things. Shiny, sparkly, might even seem like it was glowing. He was building something to keep it safe, so it might be in a little box of some sort. Or if you haven't seen it, could I come look around for it?

Okay, so I'm still new here and apparently there's not much crime. Still, there's a lot of things going on — werewolves, Grounders, weird animals — and I kind of want to get a group together to occasionally do our own patrols. Does that make sense?

Anyway, you guys came to mind first, and if you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears. If nothing else, we can get together and keep up our skills because let's be real, not being able to swing around is going to suck. I need to keep fit somehow.

After something like this last full moon, knowing what to do afterward is always the hardest part.

Everything outdoors needs to be fixed, and we're doing that. Our people need to heal, and our doctors are taking care of that, too. But not everything can be medical, and while the trees and the other debris are being cleared out, we're still in the kind of world where another enemy probably exists out there, waiting to march on us or steal us or hurt us.

We can't stop them from coming, but we've come together in the last few months. We're a community now. I came out of a world where I've watched entire planets burn. I did my job, I came here, and I tried to take it easier and retire. This werewolf battle reminded me that I can't do that anymore, not while I can drag myself out of bed every day.


We have a lot of non-combatants here, or people who could stand to learn things they don't teach at home. Starting Monday, I'm going to start managing combat and survival classes on the weekdays for people who didn't show up here with the training.

Well this is one way to get out of a Chemistry final. Never mind the fact that I've spent an entire week going over notes. We're talking long nights, barely eating, singing The Elements Song enough to drive my parents crazy.

It says I'm going to be working as a Scout, hello! But I'm wondering about school? I haven't heard anything about signing up for classes. Technically it's the end of the my junior year, but I'm not entirely sure how things work now with the changed timeline. I'm fine with repeating a year, it might be better that way as I'm sure information has changed a lot over the years.

Don't suppose we could fire up a movie in the Mess Hall tonight? We had this thing back home where we'd have a battle, then go back to my place and make popcorn and watch stupid movies until we passed out. Inevitably, we've all fall asleep in the first, like, five minutes, but we were all together.

DAY ONE: My phone can't connect to Twitter or Facebook or even my cable company so I can pay my bill. Cell phone has no signal, but there's wifi here. The wifi is boooooooring with nothing on it but this network. What am I going to do without Twitter, world? How am I supposed to survive without being able to text absolutely no one? The fact that I can't is the worst part.

Day one saw me waking up in some kind of medical ward. I feel fine. A little groggy, but fine. Weirdest kidnapping ever. Most times I wake up, strapped to a chair with some weirdo standing over me talking about new world order. I have to get punchy then, so this was a nice chance of pace. Score one for the home (away?) team. Guess that depends on perspective.

Is there food? Because it had already been twelve hours since I ate before the weird kidnapping, and now I think my stomach might be trying to escape out into the world to devour DEVOUR DEVOUR.

Whatever power it is that has brought us all here has seen fit to now bring to me that which I sought at home. The Heart of the Mountain. I can scarcely believe that I now hold my grandfather's greatest treasure in my hands, though I feel some frustration that I am so far from home and cannot celebrate with my kin and Company.

Ever had that moment when you wake up and you know you've been here physically this whole month and yet at the same time, you have no idea what the hell has been going on because it actually feels like you woke up from a really long bout of sleep?

If this makes zero sense, that's because my brain might be leaking out of my brain right now, I don't even know.

Awesome, I got bored and I got the go-ahead to start a new project. The library is sorely in need of digital copies of all its archives. Have you gone to the library and found that someone checked out Alice's Adventures in Wonderland two months ago, and still has it? Yeah, it's annoying. Especially for us fast readers. And it would help the teachers and pretty much everyone.
