So, after that whole grand speech I gave about knowing all about what a council member's job is, I forgot one thing.

It's their job as a leader to be objective, to keep their personal emotions from distracting them from what needs to be done. And I haven't even started, but I'm already thoroughly distracted, and it's not something that's likely to go away anytime soon. Same goes for my running partner. We've decided to officially withdraw from the race. I'll still be around, you know, doing whatever I can. In smaller ways.

According to what passes for a calendar around here, today is May 2nd. It's the 152nd anniversary of the end of the second wizarding world, technically, even if it only happened as fiction in their world. Back home, this day is celebrated for the good that the end of the war brought about, but it's a dad of sadness for many of us, too. Lives were lost in that war, far too many.

I.. typically keep to myself on this day at home, but since we're all stranded here together, if anyone wants to join me for a drink in honor of.. well, everything, I'm willing to make an exception.

* feel free to assume, especially if you work with Harry or have talked to him in game ever. He's pretty friendly when you're not finding his literal existence weird. ;)

I understand what I was told and I rationally know that this is all real, but that doesn't make it any more easy to accept. I keep expecting to jerk awake from a very long and very realistic dream. That hasn't happened yet, though, and with every passing moment, I'm pretty certain it won't.

So, I thought that instead of waiting around to wake up from what isn't a dream, I should introduce myself, though I've never used a device like this before and am slightly concerned that I'm doing it wrong. I'm sure that you lot have noticed that I haven't mentioned Hannah. She's -- well, she's not here and I miss her an insane amount and it just hurts to think about her and not have her here with me. Just -- just so you know. We're not married. We're still together but I think we're just comfortable being together? I mean, I would marry her if she wanted her, I'd do it in a second but she's not here so I reckon it doesn't even matter.

I'm pretty sure I'm the biggest cock-up in the history of cock-ups, because I should have married her ages ago.

[ooc: please pretend that all of the later HP people (trio-generation and on) would know that neville and hannah have been a thing for years, and the younger generations (lily luna/albus severus) would know them as being married. >.>]
