I thought you all should know something that I found out when everyone was being extra honest. Our resident king of hell is controlling another of our citizens who made a deal with Hell in an entirely different dimension.

I'm sure we haven't actually written laws for this yet, but it seems like the kind of thing we should take a stance against.

PRIVATE--JOURNAL ENTRY

January 1, 2151

I woke up to find this new journal placed outside my door. It's a nice surprise and I really want to make the most of this. It's not going to just be facts about what's happening. Anyone reading this can get those from data reports that the computers probably hold. So it won't be just ration talk or how many people are here or the basics.

That's not what made Anne Frank's diary such an important part of history. People need first hand accounts. They want to read a person's emotions, their thoughts about all that's happening around them during the time. So I'll do my best to write about that. Maybe not every day, but at least once a week I'll take time to jot down how I feel, what I've seen and experienced.

Right so, sorry about the rat. Won't happen again! I underestimated the cages, and Ash exceeded my expectations as far as subjects go. But thankfully no one was harmed, and I think the hunters had a rather good time tracking him down? Either way, still very, very sorry.

On another topic, would anyone be interested in joining together to create a weekly Dungeons & Dragons campaign? I know the rules and can type them up for everyone who wants to join, and actually have a 3.5e character sheet template on my phone that came through. Useless for almost everything else, but there's that.

For anyone that doesn't know what D&D is, it's a tabletop role-playing game, fantasy based. You create a character on paper with stats and characteristics, and form a team where your characters go up against all sorts of evils and quest on adventures.


I suppose lack of dice would be a problem, unless someone could make a set. Or an application on our tablets that does randomized rolling for all dice from d4 to d20.

A resolution is like a wish you can make true yourself, which makes it better than a wish, I think. I can't make resolutions for anyone else, but there's the good in each thing—— I can make wishes for other people, even if I can't make them come true. And I think wishes are best used if you scatter them like seeds, so here are a few: I hope someone will see the person they've been missing the most, I hope someone reads a book that makes them smile, and I hope someone who's been trying to whistle their whole lives will finally learn how to.

Sage, it's New Year's Day, and I'm not hungover. Where are you? We should celebrate.

Celebrating two New Years within a month is definitely a new experience that I never thought I'd have. At least this one didn't have the temptation of actually going out and fighting the crowds.

So, hey, I'm Samirah. Everyone calls me Sam. And Happy New Year. Hopefully this January won't be as crazy as my last one.

Who made resolutions and what are they?


This isn't the place to tell me that resolutions are stupid. Because I don't care. Just so everyone's clear.

New Year memories can be strange, and stranger still. I have several that I would like to share with you:

New Years 1917. Piled into a dugout with my brothers in arms, telling stories and shivering through the mud. Tompkins got a pack of cigarettes and he shared them. We all took a sip of coffee (rum, really. When soldiers tell you they had coffee, it was rum.) out of the same mug and slept as sound as we dared.

New Years 1919. Our world had come to an end, but those of us who made it through were desperate to sear the new one with our presence. We caroused, we sucked in life, we celebrated one another. Soon after midnight, I lost my mates following a girl with a green ribbon in her hair through Piccadilly Circus.

New Years 1921. I had a new wife and an Italian family. We celebrated with the Palatine Hill as our backdrop, and me swearing in another life I had been a charioteer in the Circus Maximus. My little bird didn't like that, she didn't. But she smiled all the same.

To see a new year, with a whole new passel of friends, makes me happy indeed. And to think the last one could have had that leaden peal of finality. Instead, here we are. I am hopeful for the lot of us and I believe that we can only become closer still in the coming months.

There's this unspoken rule that you're supposed to wait a few days before telling someone you had fun on a date, but I think most rules are kind of stupid. We're always trying to prove or disprove rules in science. End up mostly disproving them, so it kind of makes sense that I'm always trying to push the limits.

I'm babbling again.

My point is that I had a lot of fun last night, and you're cool and sexy as hell and I wouldn't mind doing it again. Sometime. If you were up for it.

Luna and I are working on something to keep track of everyone. We'll probably keep it simple, so it will show "In Mount Weather", "Outside the Mountain", and "No Longer Here".

And, once it's done, hopefully it will relieve the stress when we can't find someone. Or at least give us some certainty.
