[info]asala

network; asala adaar (042)

I'm heading up the committee for the northern settlement, and as much as I'd love to go up there and trudge around in the mud all by myself, it would get lonely.

The mapmakers' Alpha squad is already assigned to mapping out the terrain, and further assignments of military and infrastructure personnel will be made closer to the date, but I'm also asking for volunteers for when the time comes. Why am I looking for more people? Because not everyone assigned to work on the settlement will end up living there, and the assignments aren't going to give us the numbers that we need long-term, especially not with three other settlements in the works as well. I would like as many people as possible who want to live in the northern settlement to be the ones building it.

We're closest to the Azgeda border and the last stop between Mt. Weather and Polis, so even if you're not volunteering or assigned as military, we recommend that you consider what sort of combat skills you bring to the table before volunteering. It's very possible that war may break out between Azgeda and the Coalition, and as the 13th Clan, we'll likely be roped in at some point. If you're squeamish about killing in battle, this may not be the place for you.

We're specifically looking for medical personnel and other skilled workers, as well as people with skills that would suit the military or infrastructure work. Our numbers in those last two aren't so great that we can expect them to work on multiple settlements at once and make it livable before we all get old(er). It's likely you'll be assigned to a specific task or build site once we get started, but consider this an all hands on deck project. Our first building goal will be a barracks, but you should assume that until that roof goes up, we're roughing it in tents. If you've never gone camping before... I don't really care, just don't volunteer and then complain.

We aren't starting this right away, of course, we need some time to map out the area and make a solid plan. For that I'll be picking a small committee out of my available volunteers that will include members from each specialty, and we'll contact the rest of you when it's time to move out and get our hands dirty.

Keep in mind that there will be at least three other settlements to work on in the very near future, with different terrains, social requirements, and levels of danger. If you want to help but the north settlement doesn't sound like a place you'd want to live in, sit tight. At some point we're likely to be working on all four at once, so we need to spread out in general.

(ooc; hey hey! even if you miss this post, there is one up in asala's journal to keep track of the north settlement stuff specifically, including the small planning committee, a full list if volunteers, and a spot to suggest names for the settlement once it's being built!)

If I get arrested for hacking into the radio system, break me out of jail. Don't let me rot. I'm not made to survive prison life.

It should be easy since you're all cops.

[info]havefun

If you don't want generalising bigots who never shut up to be your representative, let me know below, because I'm going to storm the comms team and put out a message. Peacefully storm. I'll knock politely, probably. Comms team, radio people, you're great, but I need to borrow your stuff.

Anyhow, whatever turns out with the coalition, I don't want to be associated with the disgusting messages spewing onto our network that put all Grounders in one basket. You lot who argue back on the network are doing a bang-up job and keep at it, but I don't argue worth rot. But I can talk. Our friends who happen to be from different tribes with different takes on what's happening don't deserve to think ill of all of us just because some cretin who's more savvy with tech than he or she is at basic human decency is blasting us full-stop with their sordid opinions. I'm not about to be one of them because I didn't loan my voice when the time got right. Who's with me?

[info]ihaveashotgun

Sooo, I think we can all agree that communications is less than optimal in a world like this. People are at Polis right now and we can't talk to them given how far away they are. Walkie-talkies which are so old are incredibly limited and I can't even get them to sync up with our omni-tools.

I have hundreds of blueprints and I can turn anything into a communication device with scrap metal, tape and wiring, so I'd like to see if we can do a few salvaging runs and work on building communication towers? We have a lot of people who can fly and teleport to do drop-off installs, and setting up wireless beacons with a transponder could be possible?

Anyone else familiar with communications enough to help me? With enough brains and tequila, we can do anything!

Oh Keelah, Pod-Whatever-You-Are, these are the cutest.

Sorry Kaidan and Mordin, none for you. .... and I might have left Miranda in the box.

Garrus gave me back my shotgun but who has my drones?

It better be one of you.

Can we just not with magic that gives me a body again? Thank you. It's good to be home. Or whatever this place is. Isaac, this is me dumping you. You're very sweet but I don't think we're compatible here. I will always think well of the good times, at least the ones that I can remember, because honestly a lot of this is really blurry.

If you ummm heard that tiny boom this morning around 5 coming from the west side of town, pay no mind! None at all! It's okay! I've got it under control! Just a tiny explosion! No one was harmed!

Sorry!

So this is the first time in awhile (including pre-Mt. Weather) that I've actually had my own clothes to wear. And I actually think I may've outgrown this whole grungy rebel teen thing, considering the fact that I'm careening towards my mid-thirties.

I mean, obviously keeping most of it, but still. Maybe some of these fishnets ought to be donated to the rubbish bin, unless Kira has some crafty use for them.

[ Cosima ]
I'm pretty sure I also got a bit of that sample from Kendall. It's not much, but I'll drop it by.

Cosima Niehaus, happy belated birthday. It's hard to keep track under the mountain.

Let's have an impromptu party of some sort somewhere post-rehearsal. Some of you lot, come be entertaining. Alcohol is welcome. Devil Coffee is also welcome.

Musketeers, come take your clothes off. Cos may not be particularly interested because of her girlfriend, but the rest of us are, and that's good enough.

[Law Enforcement]
Military groups seem to be all over the place, there's announcements about not taking food from strangers. You know, and Shepard and Alenko can back me up on this, I've been in this whole 'Military doing all kinds of important-but-quiet work while Law Enforcement shuffles their feet with busywork' thing before. You know how it turned out? With a ragtag band going out and saving the damn galaxy from invasion, without help from the Military (for the most part) and Law Enforcement. (Why do I feel like I keep bringing that up?)

Chances are that's not the case here, sure. But there's echos. Just feeling a little useless over here, if something is going down. It's not my nature. There something we can do? And don't say cracking down on people with food they shouldn't have.

So who's hurting for a spare coffee ration? I don't need it. I'm willing to entertain offers.

So, I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess there aren't any automail mechanics about?

I know I've seen a few other people with -- prosthetics limbs, I guess you'd call them? Are there mechanics for those?

So I'm officially out of Medical and got my housing and job assignments. Bravo scouts, looks like I'm one of you. Claire and Tali'Zorah did I spell that right - I promise I'm a quiet roommate. Not that I've ever lived with anyone not my mom, but if I had, I'm sure that it'd still be true.

Hello, Mount Weather! Two things:

I'm happy to announce that auditions for Little Shop of Horrors are coming up at the end of the month! Mark your calendars for February 25th, where we'll be holding open auditions in the gym after dinner hours.

If you're nervous about your audition, you could see Sir Galavant, who's generously providing singing lessons.

Second, Felix and I have put together welcome packets for all new arrivals to Mount Weather, which includes a pamphlet about all of the fun things to do here if we're not under attack. Also included in the packet are two bars of my handmade soap, three packets of dandelion herb tea, and a customised painted mug courtesy of our own Felix Dawkins (which, yes, we took from the kitchens, but they will be used).

I delivered the packets to medical last week, so all new arrivals should have received one upon waking up. If you didn't, please swing by medical or see me in Civilian Services to receive one!

CLONE CLUB:
Oh, holy Christmas cakes. All of you need to come by Childcare immediately because I just got some serious eye candy.

EDITED TO ADD: CLONE CLUB, MASS EFFECT, + MARAUDERS:
Wow, there are a lot of you. Okay!

This is your official invitation to join me and the kids in my apartment tomorrow night for family game night after dinner. We held one recently to get to know everyone, and you know what? There are more of you. We got Sarah and Kira back, and Tali, your friend Garrus is here now, and you know what? That's just great. We're making room for more family.

Please come! Party games include charades, twenty questions, Pictionary, and a whole host of improv games that actors do. Alcohol is permitted but not necessarily encouraged. I am not avoiding Valentine's Day

Catherine, I have a surprise for you. :D

Thank you for your help, Isaac! And everyone that went out on little salvaging runs with me, especially in this weather. I managed extra materials for the communication devices, though I still want to look into something more.. um. Reliable. Better? I might start seeing about replicating omni-tools, but I don't know if it's something I can do without all of my gear. And I miss eezo.

I don't know about you, but next week, I'm getting my dancing shoes on. Metaphorically. I don't have a pair of heels magically here, but I know how to shake it with some low shoes.

Anyone else interested, I'll be hosting a night at the Rose for anyone wanting to cut loose for a few hours. Head on over after the movie next Saturday night!

Anyone with digital music they'd like to hear, send it on over to me, and I'll get it on the list.

I like this idea, especially since I have to run through the "yes, I'm an alien" conversation at least once a month. Which I don't mind! But sometimes it's nice to give people the chance to ask without feeling uncomfortable.

I'm Admiral Tali'Zorah vas Normandy nar Rayya (formerly vas Neema) of the Quarian migrant fleet. Normally I wear a suit, and I still wear it outdoors here, if you've seen anyone in a purple mask that's me. But the same thing that brought us here improved my immune system enough so that I can survive without it, with only minimal allergies. Here, I work in Tech, but back home I was an machinist, hacker and engineer on the SSV Normandy and on Commander Shepard's squad.

Feel free to ask me questions! I'll answer anything and I like talking about ships and mechanics. ... I also tend to ramble if you get me going on about engines. But I do very good impressions of the Normandy engines.
