Mount Weather: Minerva McGonagall

Hello, everyone. I have accepted Second in Command of Civilian Services. Podkru numbers are critically short in almost all of our Civilian Services. We are down to: 1 Food Service, 2 Dishwashers, 2 Teachers, 2 Child Caretakers. The only ones that did not lose the majority of their workers were Laundry Services and Sanitation, and even then, that is only 3 people each. Food Service is the most critical of these as, of course, we all must eat.

I am therefore proposing that each of us work at least one meal shift per week, with exceptions only for those ill, injured, or responsible for the care of someone who cannot care for themselves. Though I cannot require this of you, I hope you can recognise the importance and will contribute. There are simple food preparations that almost anyone could assist with, and anyone who is absolutely uncomfortable with that can at least help in portioning out and serving the food. I have pulled the records for prior meal plans and schedules so they can be scaled down accordingly for the current population.

I'm aware that many of you enjoy regular alcohol, and I occasionally imbibe myself, but there are now vastly more people brewing alcohol than preparing food. I'd ask that the brewers, in particular, consider transferring your work focus to the much more urgent food needs and take more than a single day's meal shift.

I'd also ask that anyone who can speed the dishwashing process, please give your assistance in spelling the dishes or otherwise helping this along. There isn't enough space at the washing stations for everyone to wash their own at every meal, therefore we need to continue to do them in bulk.

Mr Albus Severus Potter, Mr Bucky Barnes, and Ms Sue Storm-- please see me tomorrow at 8 AM in 203 for an emergency meeting with the Skaikru who remain as Teachers and Child Caretakers.

Thank you.

The votes have been tallied, and I am pleased to announced that your two new Councilors are: Logan Howlett and Leia Organa. We would like to thank them for their service and cannot wait to work with them in this trying time.

In the event that either of these two disappear, the chain of command would then fall to Cassandra Pentaghast and then Susan Pevensie. It is our hope that we will never have to call upon them, but we can do nothing about that but preparations.

For the new Second in Commands, we went by experience, knowledge of this world, and seniority.

  • LAW ENFORCEMENT: Kaidan Alenko
  • CIVILIAN SERVICES: Minerva McGonagall
  • CRAFTS: Julie Power / Lightspeed (616)
  • AGRICULTURE & ANIMALS: Marie D'Ancanto / Rogue (movies)
Your patience and diligence during this time is greatly appreciated. As always, I am open for questions and will answer to the best of my abilities.

Network Post: Minerva McGonagall

The children and young people were exceptionally brave today. Many of my students wanted to volunteer to help with meals and putting supplies together. I also have thank you letters from them to all of you as a whole, and I will display them soon.

Their parents and guardians are to be commended. I know it was difficult to decide to fight or participate in the defense knowing that it meant being away from them, but I hope you know that whatever choice you made helped keep your child safe, and you are an excellent parent for it.

I'm reminded of when I was a little girl and the wars were raging in both the Muggle and magical communities. It brought out some of the best in both young and old. I'm also reminded that though the battle is over, the effects will linger for a long time. Please do take care of yourself and those around you who may struggle in the aftermath.

I am truly grateful to be out of medical quarantine. I do not know any more logical ways to teach a toddler how to sing "happy birthday." Jim, if you require a serenade, I know a very well-qualified child.

If you are amenable, I'd like to introduce my 3-D set at this Thursday's chess club.

All right, I feel like playing the piano. Anyone interested in singing (or playing along with whatever other instrument you've got), come meet me in the theater! Does anyone know Scots folk songs? I could especially use a soprano, because I've had "O Whistle and I'll Come To Ye My Lad" all afternoon. Or come teach me a new song. I don't even care, I just need some music.

TODAY IS THE BEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited. Can you tell I'm excited?! Because I am! I'm super excited! We got a huuuuuuuge pod drop of potions ingredients! Potions is just about the only thing I'm good at besides brewing alcohol so now I can do more things! All of the things! Potions things. Need a potion thing? I can do the thing!

No, but seriously, who needs the things?

Due to the departure of the Chess Club's founders, Obi-Wan and I have decided we will host the club ourselves so that it may continue.

We do, however, hope to bring a different energy to the club under our direction. Neither of us plays professionally or competitively; we are enthusiastic amateurs who enjoy chess matches as a pastime. We do not have a dogmatic view of what is or is not "real chess". We welcome your adaptations, multitasking, and more. Play it however you bloody want. If you would like to introduce the club to a variant of chess that you know and love, we'd be happy to assist you in sharing that.

Thank you again to everyone who participated in the wizard's chess set trials. I believe we have now perfected them, and they will continue to be available at the Chess Club to those who wish to play it.

As this all comes suddenly before the last meeting of the month, this month's Chess Tournament will be cancelled. We will still meet tomorrow night to play. We hope to see you there.

You've caused quite a stir.

The magical chess pieces were interesting. I wasn't very sure about the point usefulness at first, but it would make it a lot easier to play while doing something with your hands at the same time. Especially if your opponent takes a long time to decide on their move.

I want to remind anyone who interested in trying wizard's chess, and who isn't too shellshocked from the educational seminar, that tonight's Chess Club meeting will be the first public trial. I would appreciate any feedback you give on how it performs.

Those from my world: you know what to expect from wizard's chess, so please alert me to any deviations in how the chess pieces behave for you or if you notice them in how they behave for any of your opponents.

Those not from my world: the chess pieces should obey your commands to move to the directed space. You will name which piece is to move and the space to which it will go. The correct piece should relocate itself as directed by sliding to that space. In a fully developed wizard's chess set, the pieces would capture the opponent's piece; we will not be testing that behavior just yet, so you will need to manually remove captured pieces from the board. If you are a non-magical person-- a "Muggle"-- I would like to know if the pieces fail to respond to your commands or if they give you any grief. If you're of magical stock, please watch for any irregularities in how they react.

Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you tonight. You may leave your feedback on this post after the meeting.

Filtered Network Post: Minerva McGonagall to Magic Folk

[FILTERED TO WIZARDING WORLD AND ALL OTHER MAGICAL PEOPLE]

Last month, people were compelled to voice the truth and their every thought. We have just seen people reversed in time.

I would hope that no one intended such widespread results, but nevertheless, I believe we need to have an open, frank discussion about how we're using our magic given the extreme side effects we have seen, and about communicating when the unexpected happens so that we might help to correct it.

For instance, I am creating wizarding chess sets for use here. If anyone should feel a compulsion to move to E5 or capture a pawn, I expect to be informed promptly so I can cast the relevant counter-charms.

I know things are crazy right now, and I only work in Computer Repair, but I'm going through and compiling a list of everyone we know that's changed (you don't have to add their name here unless they haven't posted at all) and where they live. Obviously we've got a few people that are going to need alternate arrangements for sleeping, temporarily.

Mostly just stemmed from the fact that my boyfriend is now 13. I know other people are in the same boat, and I'd say it's probably a lot easier for us to move than it is anyone that's out of place.

Anyway, if you suddenly find yourself in need of a temporary place to sleep, or you have an empty room/bed in your apartment, comment here and hopefully we can get everyone sorted before tonight.

There is much discussion on what to do with the dragon that has been attacking villages. Here are the facts:
  • We have several Grounder refugees who made it here in the nick of time.
  • We do not have a map of Grounder villages so we cannot send this creature to live somewhere else that is uninhabited.
  • We have no assurances that the food in some fairytale preservation area would not run out, and that it wouldn't seek food nearby, endangering Grounders and us alike.
  • We are currently in the midst of a very serious food shortage. We've run dangerously low on meat for most citizens, blood for vampires, and brain for our zombie citizen.
  • We have all of Camp Jaha to support which we were not prepared for when we stockpiled our food for the winter.
  • Wizards would be able to get dibs on dragon bone and blood for potions and spells.
  • The scales could be used in clothing and armor.
  • We have no solid hunting leads, especially not with the amounts of animals that are being found frozen by what appears to be magic.
Many of you want to destroy it, many want to preserve it. A few want to transfigure it into something else. All of those are legitimate ideas that deserve serious thought for. However, this administration cannot forget that we have another three months of winter with supplies running well below normal.

I am sorry to say that the chancellor's feeling on the matter is confused. Her compassion drives her to want to preserve the creature, but the pragmatist who cares for her people considers its ethical death to be a priority. The pros and cons are simply too great for her to ignore.

Priority to those who could kill the beast, but those who would like to attempt transfiguring are welcome to try. However, if you get in the way of those attempting to bring it down, there will be consequences.

Thank you everyone who came to the first Chess Club last night. I hope you all had fun. Freddie and I look forward to seeing you all again next week.

And, just to remind anyone else. If you like chess, or are interested in learning. We meet every Thursday night. And happily give lessons for those that want them.

And, the last Thursday of every month, we'll have a tournament.

So, there's a new year coming and that's really weird, because it wasn't this close from whence I came. But, I'm adjusting and not as starstruck. ..That's not true, I'm still starstruck. In fact, I've made a brand new autograph book to make up for not having my old one that's ready for signatures from every hero I've ever had in the White House.

I've veered off subject, I'm sorry. So, my resolution is to be more open, and by that I mean... Accepting of this place and where I stand in it. I'm Leslie Knope, I don't stay down for long. I can't.

My second resolution is to get every possible Harry Potter-related person's autograph, because you're all amazing and heroes and I love you. I'm not weird. You're weird. No. You're not weird. You're wonderfully real people that I admire a lot.

I hope that everyone enjoyed the changing holiday decorations in the mess hall, and doesn't think anything less of Severus or myself for indulging in our little competition.

It really wasn't petty, you know, even though I take our House rivalry rather more seriously than it needs to be. I have fun competing with Severus. I actually think that green looks better than red, which is why I wear so much of it despite being Head of Gryffindor.

It seems the 'pod god' has outdone itself. But if you are out of the Jury sequestering, I am wondering if you have any interest in assisting me in supplementing the decorations magically.

[FILTERED TO THE JURY; COURT/LEGAL FOR THE EMERSON TRIAL]

I'm not normally one for strong language, but based on the rumours starting to fly-- bloody hell, what a disaster.

I won't be surprised if we get pestered to say what verdict we would have rendered had the trial come to a natural completion. I'm inclined to stay tight-lipped quiet on that regardless of whether we're given permission to speak on it.

Shall we have ourselves another round of drinks?
