WARNINGS: PG half-nakedness and kissing. And there’s semi-graphic talk about medical torture. Assassins, okay. They talk about weird shit.

( All right, so having someone fuss over him was /strange/, as if he’d tripped and fallen headfirst into someone else’s life, but it wasn’t /unpleasant/ )

If you helped out any of our medical staff today, thank you. We couldn't do it without all of you.

We're still going to need your help in the coming days, but get some rest for now, and take care of each other. That goes for the rest of you as well. You might think you're tough now, but injuries can get worse very quickly. We saw that not too long ago, so I hope everyone keeps that in mind. Not just for yourselves, but for everyone else around you. We're not miracle workers, I'm not a saint. We can only do so much. You have to meet us halfway. Please meet us halfway, at the very least.

And thanks to everyone else for helping out, too, whether it was fighting or something else. Seeing everyone come together in a crisis like we did today is a special thing, if you ask me.

Good news! I've managed to attach a fairly sizeable bit of bolt to an axe despite having very little training and/or experience with the creation of bolt paper! (Bolt paper is, of course, the electrical sister to fire paper, with which some of you already have experience.) Congratulations, me! I've more testing to do before I release my prototype to our friends in the military, but I thought an update would not go amiss.

Bad news! I've tried to get the smell of singed flesh out of the Toolmaking room with mixed results. Deepest apologies! It's a work in progress.

While I initially had reason to believe I was being quartered with Legolas, a second inspection of his appearance has not aligned with Tolkien's description. I still do not, however, agree with what it is my eyes have seen. Circumstances are not, as any new arrival can imagine, ideal.

My thanks for the mug and colourful pamphlet, it has given me a great deal of information of which I have, overall, very little use. I have been told I will be a part of law enforcement. To whom do I report? There's something I wish to discuss in private.

I don't expect this to be a huge potential problem for us, but we've been warned that Jim Kirk has developed an infected wound that isn't responding well to usual treatments. If any of you start noticing rash or fever which seem to be linked with an injury, especially if it's swelling up, leaking any fluid that isn't blood, or unusually hot to the touch, go straight to medical. You should also take extra care to make sure any injuries are free of dirt and washed out with clean water. If you're going to bandage them, only use sterile bandages.

I haven't the faintest how much you know, but if it's less than me, then it is likely nothing at all. Keep an open eye when you venture outside of the mountain, brother.

I'll be leaving today for several hours to bring back the bodies of those deceased in a battle that took place outside walls yesterday. Try to stay out of trouble?

Just popping in to announce that I've got roller boots and you don't.



Aleck outfitted my boots with wheels yesterday after hauling around some of the musical instruments inside the Mountain and I've decided that walking is for lesser mortals, so from now on - roller boots. They're brill; I never did manage to make it over to the rink they built over in the Strand for this sort of thing, so might as well have it all happening now.

Oh, and quick word of warning - still not sure how to stop. Outside of collision and crashing, which seems to do the job nicely.

People come and go so quickly here. It's difficult to keep up. I just wanted to say hello to all the new arrivals if I haven't done so already. Welcome to Mount Weather.

I simply cannot get over how utterly brilliant this network is. Hundreds of devices, all connected, no competition for signals! And there are some truly brilliant minds here in the workshop with utterly incredible amounts of expertise in fields I've never even considered. This place is amazing.

Some of the conversations I've had have me thinking of some other devices I could construct for you lot. Smoke bombs are all well and good, but we could be doing so much more with them! I've been looking at ways to assault the other senses - horrible smells, loud noises, bright flashes of light - and I think I can do it if you can just help me out with finding some materials. From what I understand of the areas outside the mountain, I'm fairly certain I would get myself killed in about a quarter hour if I ventured out alone.

And I think I could do some more destructive work, too. Alfred's fire paper has given me some fascinating ideas for fire bombs and freeze bombs to go along with the voltaic bombs.

Let me know what you want first, and I'll tell you what I need to do it. And, how is all your other equipment holding up? I know you've been here for some time, so if you need any maintenance work, do let me know. Better to be without a rope launcher for a day you know you can spare than to find yourself stuck up a tree somewhere because it fails on you. I've also an idea or two for improvements on those. There's a gentleman in the smithy who can do literally anything with metal, and I believe we could get you some thinner, lighter line that would also be more durable!
