Warnings: TBD, you never know with these chappies

Kind of freaking out here, please slap me out of it )

WHO: Greta Morgan & Hati
WHEN: Friday night
WHERE: The edge of the city and some forest
WHAT: Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf.
WARNINGS: Hati being a creeper, sex involving blood

Greta had always lived her life surrounded by unbreakable rules. They weren't rules that she'd put in place on purpose, nor were they rules that had been instilled in her by family. Instead they were rules that had crept up into her life from nowhere and from a very young age.

They'd diagnosed her quite early with a form of obsessive compulsive disorder because of her inability to go about life if it meant breaking any of those silly rules and Greta hated that there was something so wrong with her brain that she couldn't do some simple tasks.

Greta didn't go with strangers. It was sensible and smart, but even if she'd wanted she just couldn't. Even if she was sure they were perfectly nice and trying to help her The very thought of doing it left her shaking and crying. She couldn't do it.

But now, after a dozen comments on a journal, she was agreeing to meet a complete stranger at some address of the edge of the city at dusk. It was a situation that would leave any woman even without her strange rules uncomfortable and yet... for some reason Greta found that she couldn't say no.

She drove her car out to the address Hati had given her and on the steering wheel she found her hands were shaking, so she balled them into fists as she got out of the car and locked it after, pulling her red cloak out of the back seat.

She pulled the cloak on and let the hood remain on her shoulders, golden hair loose around it. Sometimes Greta couldn't see what was right in front of her. She had her rules and those same rules made her blind.

Little Red Riding Hood straying right into the wolf's open jaws.

She shivered and looked around for the man.

Hati considered himself to be a lucky wolf (not person, not even a million years on these two legs would ever make him think of himself as person). He'd just gotten into town, one of the people he hunted for had given him a nice place that was close to the forest and a card they'd told him to use for 'anything'.

Apparently they agreed that Hati was a good hunter.

Yet his aim had been to draw his little Moon out of hiding. To continue the endless chase between him and Mani. To capture, bite and release and continue. It was his duty, it was his purpose. He knew little else. But when the girl had spoken to him, he'd perked up in interest. When she agreed to meet him, he found that his luck had only increased.

He'd been in the forest, surrounded by Pack, when he'd sniffed the girl out. He'd almost laughed at the cloak. Really this was getting too good. The dark hid the grin of predator that crept over his lips, and he calmed himself before stepping out into the light. He made sure to make enough noise. No need to be silent. Yet.

"Greta?" He liked how he'd kept his accent, and never bothered to hide the almost growl in his voice. The sheepskin of human only worked so well.

Greta turned to look at him, blue eyes wide with fright she was trying to keep buried. She was definitely afraid but... she'd come anyway. Why had she come here? She swallowed and nodded, taking a few steps towards him.

She found though that she didn't know what to say and instead was just looking up into his dark eyes with cautious and unrestrained interest.

And... yes... there was certainly a small ball of lust buried deep in her belly. (Greta wasn't 'that kind of girl'... and yet. Here she was, with this strange man.)

Hm. Fear. He was used to fear. It was familiar. With a smile he stepped closer, still calm and polite. He could not help to threaten, even if he knew about it.

Predators did as they ought to.

He stepped close and leaned down, "what big eyes you have." Really though, he had to. It was almost too good. He watched her, finding her interesting. He did not step back nor break eye contact. He couldn't, not unless she looked away first.

Then he smiled, "Hati." To give her his name again. In case she wasn't sure.

The line was sort of cheesy but she found herself smiling a little shyly and dropping her gaze from his. His eyes were intense and she wasn't sure she could look at him for too long.

"Hati," she repeated, looking back up with the little smile still on her lips. "I wasn't sure how it was pronounced." Again she tore her gaze away from his with some effort and made a small nervous half-laugh. "I don't usually do this sort of thing."

It always worked, surprisingly. At least to mortals. He'd yet to try it on his moon. Times had made him odd.

He stepped back once she dropped her gaze, calmed by it somehow. "Is Norse." No one ever asked, because no one remembered Hati but the rare few. He still remembered so it was okay. He watched her and shrugged, "go run? Should. It's fun." He motioned her along, "come."

Norse, like the tree of life and Ragnarok and ice giants. She hadn't paid enough attention to Norse myths to know anything beyond that, but he wasn't talking about myths anyway, just a name.

Greta smiled and followed him towards the lines of trees, shaking her head (more with amusement and not because she was disagreeing.) "I hope I can keep up with you," she told him and she found that she really wanted to be able to. She kept fit enough, but she'd never been much of a runner.

He moved easily over the snow. Over the time he'd been here he'd spend it getting used to the terrain, to the little territory he was marking off. The forest was not claimed, so he felt. He liked it. He planned to run it it for quite some time.

He glanced to her, then smiled. The fact that it might be unnerving escaped him. "More like, I keep up with you. You run, I follow."

So it was sort of like she was going to be running through the dark woods with a very strange, tall, strong-looking man chasing her. No, nothing to be concerned about there.

She should have got back into her car.

She should have turned away and left.

Instead she smiled at him, something playful and teasing, and then

she ran.

Greta darted off through the snow, her crimson cape flying out behind her, her golden hair catching the last of the day's light.

It felt like a game, like a beginning, but more than that it felt suddenly like life and death. She found she was sprinting through the trees and breathing hard.

Don't get caught, everything told her. Do not let him catch you.

He watched her, waiting to see if his instinct was right. It usually was and there was a strange sense of other about her. Different. He liked different.

His head turned sideways as she decided, then when she smiled at him he knew he had her. He let her run for a little before he howled. And still on two legs, because four was for special cases and she was not yet that, he gave chase after her. The growl was high in his throat, and Pack followed in the shadows. Her cloak was like a bright beacon, leading him forward.

The snow crunched under Greta's feet as she ran and when a thin branch slapped her across the face and she kept running she realised how frightened she actually was. This wasn't a game anymore. They weren't playing. She felt like she was running for her life and she couldn't let him catch her.

But... some part of Greta wanted him to catch her.

The only thing she could do was keep running, deeper and deeper into the forest, everything growing darker and darker.

There was no path and she was afraid but she couldn't stop. She could taste blood on her lips from where the tree had scratched her and she dared to throw a glance back over her shoulder, needing to know if Hati was close behind.

Hati could always tell a prey that wanted to be caught, and prey that didn't. When he did his duty, hunted for the sake of food, then he knew those he chased knew that eventually they would get caught. Those he hunted to keep the mortal sheep-skin on didn't want to be caught.

This one wanted to be caught.

A hunt was always good, always the chase was nice. He ran after her with all his speed, could smell something metallic.

When she looked back he was not far behind, eyes glinting moonlight. And were those other pairs of eyes behind him? Perhaps she was seeing things.

He still ran after her, his smile promising dark things when he caught her.

There were things in the dark. There were monsters and there was Hati who Greta thought, for a moment, was a monster as well. The smile both terrified and exhilarated her.

There was a stitch in her side though and she was slowing, a whimper escaping from her lips as she tried to force herself to keep running. But she was exhausted and she wasn't runner.

Another glance over her shoulder and he was closer, right behind her. She dug her fist into her side to try and kill the stitch but she could practically feel his breath on her neck.

She was slowing and he was gaining ground, he slowed drawing it out just a little, before he pounced on her. Teeth scraped just so and arms planted to her side as he growled low in her ear. Not so human, not so safe.

Hati always caught his prey. Even his elusive moon he would catch. He glanced up to the sliver of pale light in the sky before leaning down, panting but not out of breath. She was a hundred years too young to get him out of breath.

He wasn't hurting, not yet, but kept her pressed down in the snow.

Greta shrieked as he caught her and then she was pressed down into the cold snow, cloak like a bloody puddle beneath her (the taste of blood on her lips not helping her with that imagery at all).

That confused him. What was no, really? Yet he did not bite nor scratch nor tug. He may be wolf, but he was not cruel. He was more confused. He'd caught her hadn't he? This was the way of things?

He studied her, yet did not force her down anymore. Maybe she wanted to run more.

Greta sat up slowly, drawing a little away from him on the snowy ground and pulling her cloak around her. Her eyes never left his, confused and still frightened and still... was she still somehow drawn to him? He'd just scared her half to death but she didn't want to run. (Besides, she got the feeling he'd chase again.)

Eventually she dropped her eyes and felt the thin cut on her cheek, bloody but barely a scratch, nothing she needed to worry about.

She looked over at Hati again. "You scared me," she told him. It was without accusation, simply a fact.

Greta shuddered as Hati's tongue touched her face, but she wasn't sure if it was all horror the way her body reacted. But he'd just licked blood from her face and that wasn't normal behavior. That was... serial killer behavior.

I claim.

It could mean anything. This creepy man was practically telling her that he might slit her throat ear to ear and yet at his words Greta's breath grew short and it wasn't because of the running.

She swallowed hard and bit on her bottom lip. Then she lifted the weight of her cloak and took of sideways, slower now, still tired from the first time but making the best effort she could. The uneven snowy ground kept trying to trip her up though and she was having difficulty seeing where exactly there were paths to run.

He grinned as she ran again. He already knew he could catch her so he kept his pace slow, giving her the illusion she was always outrunning him by just that fraction. He liked this game, liked this little girl. Perhaps he would chase her more.

Greta was a stupid little girl lost in the forest with a clearly dangerous man. The stitch she hadn't recovered from was biting into her side again and her cloak was too heavy.

He may be wolf, but he'd learned to read in this sheep-skin so no one would take advantage of him. A good predator adapted to his surroundings.

Greta had slipped behind one of the trees, pressing her back hard against it in the darkness and squeezing her eyes shut. All she could think was, I shouldn't have strayed from the path.

There had been a path and it never led here. And yet that brain glitch that usually was so adamant about paths and strangers had completely betrayed her tonight.
