Tuesday: A Good Hostess

Who: Cordelia and Noah
When: Evening
Where: Cordy's house!

When she'd received the call from Noah, Cordelia was at work, finishing up a few proofs for a family with a newborn she'd just photographed. She had been busy, so the phone call was brief, but by the time they hung up, they had plans for dinner and Cordelia would be cooking. She had been to his boat several times, and he'd only been to her house once, when he'd picked her up and dropped her off on their first date. Cordy was looking forward to cooking for someone besides herself, and hey, he'd get to meet Pepper, right?

After work, Cordelia drove home, let the dog outside and then changed from her work clothes into a simple green sundress and then started the lasagna. It was a simple dish, one her mom cooked at least once a week for the two of them, so Cordelia knew the recipe like the back of her hand. She put it into the over, made a salad and buttered some garlic bread before letting Pepper back in the house and feeding him. The weather was pretty crappy, but warm enough that she left the french doors open in the back of the house anyway, since it wasn't raining into the house.

Saturday: Australian Terrier

Who: Corwin and Cordelia
Where: Out and about
When: Midday or thereabouts

Corwin pulled up to Cordelia's house and hopped out of the van. Davey, who had insisted on coming along, hopped out and trotted after him. It would be interesting with Davey and a new cat in the car, but... well, Corwin would deal with it somehow. He headed up to her door and knocked lightly, bouncing a bit on his heels-- which only had the effect of making him look taller, and sillier-- while he waited. It'd been a long time since he'd gotten to help someone adopt a pet. It was, he had to admit, one of his favorite things, second probably only to a successful spell or adopting a pet, himself.

What is that, an over-sized yorkie? )

Friday: What's News?

Who: Ashley and Cordelia
When: Early evening
Where: Juicy Java

Since Cordelia was getting off work prior to Ashley having to go to work, the two decided to meet up at Juicy Java for a coffee before Ashley disappeared into techno beats and flashing lights of Vapor. Cordelia was exhausted after a day filled with family portraits, screaming kids and overbearing mothers, but it was Friday night and she was determined to enjoy herself, seeing as how she would be booked for the rest of the weekend, both with Corwin and a scheduled wedding. Sunday would be her lounging around in pajamas day, if she got lucky enough.

Walking into Juicy Java, she glanced around for Ashley, wanting to make sure her friend was there before she actually went to the counter to order. The place looked sparse enough, but Cordelia had been living in Darkwater long enough to know that the teenage crowd would descend upon it once evening hit.

Thursday: Fortunes

Who: Cordelia and Corwin
When: Lunchtime
Where: Darkwater Computers

Cordelia was having a pretty slow day at the studio, which meant she could likely get away with taking a long lunch rather than trying to finish a salad or sandwich in between scheduled appointments. She'd almost been late to work that morning, having left Noah's house at dawn and driving home to shower and change. She was in a fantastic mood, however, so she didn't care so much that the only jobs she'd had that day were a screaming newborn baby and then a mother with her surly looking teenage boys. With Joanie taking over for Cordy's lunch, she stopped by to pick up some Chinese take out before driving to Corwin's shop. She had no idea if he'd already eaten lunch, but if not, she had plenty of Wor Su Gai to share.

Wednesday: Hidden Talents

Who: Cordelia and Noah
When: Evening
Where: The Dirty Birdie and then Noah's boat
Warning: NSFW

As promised during their last 'date', Cordelia was in charge of deciding what she and Noah ought to do for their outing this evening. The weather was gorgeous and she decided she wanted to do something outside, rather than staying in. Logic told her that it made sense to have dinner somewhere, and while she adored Seaside Cafe since it had outdoor patio seating that overlooked Johnson's Beach, Cordelia also found a romantic dinner by the ocean a little bit cheesy. She was a romantic at heart, sure, but even she felt like wrinkling her nose at the idea of dragging the poor guy to that kind of atmosphere. There were other things Cordelia found entertaining, and romantic, that didn't come near spending a fortune at a fancy seafood restaurant.

And since she didn't want to be conventional, Cordelia decided on something completely different. She drove to the marina about an hour before sunset, wearing a dark green sundress and comfortable sandals. For once she wore her hair down over her shoulders since Noah had seemed to prefer it, and she was thankful it wasn't too windy around Darkwater that evening. It was all she could do not to grab a hair tie and pull it up out of her face. The theme of the evening, in Cordy's mind, was casual. It was what she was most comfortable with, and she was realizing Noah was the same way.

Now I know your secret. You ready for mine? )

Monday: A Stitch In Time

Who: Allie and Cordelia
When: Early evening (6:00pmish)
Where: The hospital

The day hadn't been going the way Cordelia had hoped, or expected. She'd woken up late for work, burned herself while trying to pour her coffee and then accidentally deleted a file containing personal photos she'd been trying to print out at work. The only bright side she could find in the entire morning was that the photos hadn't belonged to a client, which meant she avoided a stern lecture from her boss. Managing to get through the rest of the work day was a challenge, but she did it somehow, forcing politeness and smiles to hide her crabby mood from customers who came into the studio.

After work, Cordelia headed to the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for spaghetti sauce, thinking maybe she would invite Corwin over some night that week and make him dinner. She would be seeing Noah Wednesday night, but it was always nice to have some excuse to invite company over when you lived alone in a big house. Unfortunately her bad luck for the day didn't stop at five o'clock. After reaching up for a jar of spaghetti sauce, Cordelia's phone began to ring, which startled her from her daydreaming. The jar slipped through her fingers, crashing to the ground and splattering spaghetti sauce all over the shelves, the floor and her clothes. Cursing, she bent down immediately to try and pick up some of the bigger pieces of glass as one of the grocery employees began hurrying down the aisle to help her.

"I'm so sorry," Cordelia began, looking up at the guy in the red vest as she made the mistake of grabbing another piece of glass without looking. It sliced into her palm, causing her to hiss and drop it back to the floor. Blood began to seep out of the deep gash immediately and the second her gaze landed upon it, she felt nauseous. Her stomach churned and she fell back onto her ass, forcing her eyes closed as not to look at the wound. Blood had always done that to her, causing her to nearly faint, or vomit just from the sight.

A spaghetti jar broke and let me have it )

Saturday: Of Dates and Friends

Who: Corwin and Cordelia
Where: Cordelia's house
When: Afternoon

After killing time at the house for a few hours, waiting for Cordelia to get off of work, Corwin headed out again. The weather was breezy, but still bright, so he wasn't too concerned about driving into a storm in the next hour or two. You never knew, with Darkwater, but you could at least be reasonably certain it wouldn't turn from clear to wild in the span of half an afternoon.

He parked in front of her house, climbed out-- Davey in tow, because the little siamese had snuck in after him; it was a pretty common occurrence, really-- and headed up the walk to knock. This time, he'd brought food, though it was just muffins and coffee, like last time. It was hard to go wrong with a muffin and coffee, no matter what time of day it was, and it was one food one was usually in the mood for, unlike if he'd decided to pick up Mexican or Chinese or something. Knock was exciting, since he had a cat under one arm, and the back of muffins in the other, balancing the coffee carton at his elbow.

Stop being stupid or I may have to kick you. )

Friday: Guilty Pleasures

Who: Noah and Cordelia
When: Evening
Where: Seaside, then the pier

Cordelia was more or less ready for her outing with Noah by the time seven o'clock rolled around. She wasn't someone who spent a lot of time tearing up her wardrobe to find something cute to wear, nor did she stand in front of the bathroom mirror and meticulously put on her make up and do her hair. She hadn't been lying to Noah when she told him she was a low-maintenance kind of person. She pulled on the first 'pretty' thing she saw in her closet, a blue and green maxi summer dress, found some sandals to match and then tied her hair up into a high ponytail. Her makeup consisted of lip gloss and some mascara and that was about it. If she had Ashley's sense of style, she was sure she would probably come across as a lot more alluring and sexy, but sadly, that was Ashley's domain.

When she heard the doorbell, Cordy grabbed her bag from the kitchen chair and went to answer it. She had no idea what they would be doing, but she was hoping it wasn't anything fancy. So far Noah seemed pretty laid back, so she was expecting something to mirror that.

Noah's dressing up involved wearing dark jeans as opposed to the faded ones with holes in them and putting actual shoes on his feet instead of flip flops. He'd put a blue and white striped polo shirt on top of the jeans, washed his slightly stubbled face and called it good. He could do fancy, but as a general rule he wasn't much into it, and he tended to prefer people who weren't, either. He'd managed to get over to Cordy's place right on time-- which was good, since being late would tend to make a bad impression-- and he enjoyed the evening breeze as he waited for her to open the door. "Hey," he said with a smile once she appeared. He didn't find anything lacking in her outfit; the colors of the dress she wore made her hair look extra-vivid, and it skimmed her body nicely. "Ever been to Seaside?" he asked, naming the little oceanfront cafe that was a local favorite. "I thought we might wander over there. Hope you don't mind walkin', since I don't actually have a car." It was only a few blocks.

I brought you out here, so it's my responsibility to keep you warm )

Thursday: Talk of... Muscles

Who: Ashley and Cordelia
Where: Super Smooth, top floor
When: after work

The smoothie shop was fairly crowded after the work day was over, but Ashley had managed to hold a seat for Cordy at the long bar upstairs that overlooked the ocean. She'd accomplished that feat by putting her purse and jacket on the seat and hooking her heels into the rungs of it. Anyone wanting to sit there was put off with a bright smile and an explanation that her friend would be there any second. Quite a few seconds had passed, but thus far she'd managed to keep holding onto it. Maybe Cordy had gotten held up at work? she wondered. Hopefully she was downstairs getting her own drink and would be up here right away.

Cordelia had gotten held up at work, dealing with a pinch-faced woman who insisted on a discount off of her daughter's wedding package because she had been dissatisfied with the engagement photos taken. It seemed that in small towns, some people believed businesses were hard up for customers, and while Cordelia certainly didn't mind fudging the numbers a bit to help out, she didn't like people who more or less demanded special treatment. Especially after being told you were previously unsatisfactory, which had Cordelia wondering why the woman would want to use them again if she had been so unhappy with them the first go around. It was all about saving money, in the end. And since Cordelia could argue until her face turned blue - which she very nearly did - it had taken her a bit longer to get out of the studio and over to Super Smooth to meet Ashley.

Tuesday: Ego is Necessary

Who: Santiago and Cordelia
When: Early afternoon
Where: Cordelia's studio

Even though Santiago had long since misplaced the card Cordelia had given him, it didn't take much time or effort to track down the red-headed photographer's studio in Darkwater. There were only so many such things in town, after all. He'd escaped his business-related duties under the excuse of finding marketing support-- not that he needed an excuse, but it did keep his accountants happier-- dressed in a disgustingly conservative khaki-and-suit-jacket combo with only his usual make-up and jewelry as a nod to his oddness, and went out hunting. Sure enough, he found it within the hour.

After considering it a moment, he wandered right in, and investigated the pictures on the walls, first. If Cordelia was here, he assumed she would find him.

This had been a relatively productive little meeting, if a bit less flirty than he'd half-hoped. )

Monday: Low-Maintenance

Who: Noah and Cordelia
When: evening
Where: Noah's boat

All Noah had to do to prepare for Cordy's visit was to straighten up the main living area of the boat and then get himself cleaned up, and he found himself rushing around at the last minute to do that. He could get so engrossed in his writing that he lost all track of time, but fortunately he pulled himself away and got the living area with its small table, kitchen counters and narrow two-seater couch neatened up. No dirty glasses or plates, no clothing left strewn around, books in the tiny bookcase against one wall lined up. He sprayed a blast of air freshener and even lit a votive candle on the table for a bit of ambience before hurrying into the shower.

Noah Absolom was nothing if not low-maintenance, and he was out and dressed within ten minutes in jeans, a long-sleeved t-shirt and flip-flops, his close-cropped hair dried with one scrub of a towel over his head. He was good to go, and after a glance at the clock, he headed up to the deck of his boat to wait.

Sunday: Muffins and Hot Chocolate

Who: Cordelia and Corwin
When: Late morning
Where: Corwin's house

Since it had been a few days since she saw Corwin, Cordelia had woken up that morning with the determined plan to stop by his house and say hello. She had enjoyed herself at Vapor the night before, potentially drumming up some business and dancing with various strangers. It was fun to let loose every now and then, and in Cordelia's mind, Vapor was a welcome addition to Darkwater.

Packing up some photographs she'd developed in the make shift studio in her house, she also stopped by the cafe and bought some hot chocolates and muffins, just in case he was hungry. She drove to his house soon after and grabbed her packages before hurrying up to his front door and knocking. She didn't know if he would even be home, but knowing Corwin, she was guessing that he was.

Saturday: Mixing Pleasure with Business

Who: Cordy and Santiago
When: Evening
Where: Vapor

After Cordelia had managed to get into the club, she went directly over to say hello to Ashley before she grabbed a drink and found herself a nice non-quiet corner to hide out in for awhile. She wore the knee high black boots she'd bought with Ashley a few days back along with a black minidress that rarely saw the light of day. At least she had an excuse to wear it now, right? Her camera was in the bag resting on her shoulder, and she was itching to pull it out and use it. Sipping on her cranberry and vodka, Cordelia was content with people watching for awhile. She was waiting to see something, or someone, that she could take a photograph of. Not that she would get the best results, being in the dark, and it wasn't as if she could haul in all of her equipment, but she would see what happened. Maybe she would get a few interesting shots.

I would love to see what you're capable of. )

Friday: Girl Time

Who: Cordelia and Ashley
When: Evening
Where: Ashley's!

Because she hadn't seen her since their shoe shopping excursion, Cordelia made it a point to text Ashley to let her know she was coming over to hang out, so any male company would have to get their butts dressed and on the road. She had pictures she wanted to show off from the past couple of days, and some girl time was way overdue. And since she was such a good friend, Cordelia stopped by the convenience mart on the way and picked up two pints of ice cream and a bag of gummy bears. Cordy ate pretty healthily all week, so this was her day to splurge.

Grabbing the plastic bag of goodies with one hand and her camera bag with the other, she used her heel to shut her car door before heading up to Ashley's door. Tomorrow was the re-opening of Vapor, so Ashley would probably be busy most of the day and night and Cordelia had way too much to share to have to wait until Sunday.

Friday: Stolen Souls

Who: Noah and Cordelia
When: Early afternoon
Where: Johnson's Beach

There weren't many people who would take their day off to do anything related to their job, but Cordelia was one of few, she was sure, who enjoyed her job. And she always had her camera with her anyway, so today was no different. Since the weather was just the right temperature, she dressed in jeans and a tank top and drove out to Johnson's beach. Since it was still pretty early, it wasn't as busy as it would be once the summer heat really kicked in. And just as she predicted, the ocean was full of life, churning and splashing wildly upon the shore. She was already envisioning beautiful black and white photographs that she could frame and put in her house.

After leaving her shoes, bag and sweater in the car, Cordelia walked down the beach, eager to find the perfect place to plant herself for awhile and take a few photographs.

Wednesday: Water Is Wet.

Who: Corwin and Cordelia
Where: The marina party
When: Sometime after the party is in full swing

The crowd was a little overwhelming, Corwin had to admit, but he had the lucky-- or perhaps not so lucky-- trait of being tall and scary-looking, so at least nobody really bumped into him much. Better than nothing, right? Even if it left him wanting to apologize to everyone who so much as looked at him.

As promised, he pretty much stuck by Cordelia's side all night, so far, except on the rare occasions she managed to sneak off to chat with someone else. Cordelia was familiar. Cordelia was safe. Cordelia, he hoped, put up with him.

Currently they were sharing beers by the actual dock part of the marina, after finishing off dinner. Corwin was sitting on a waist-high post at the edge of the water and watching the boats bob up and down with the waves.

"Wonder what it'd be like to live on a boat," he mused, seeing some with clothes hanging from lines and other signs of being obviously homes to people.

As poor Corwin finds out first-hand. )

Monday: A Perfect Afternoon

Who: Cordelia and Ashley
When: 2pm!
Where: shopping for shoes!

After lunch with Corwin, Cordelia dropped him back off at his computer repair shop before driving to Ashley's for their planned shoe-shopping date. Cordelia was trying to psych herself up for it. She did need a pair of new shoes, but her footwear admiration didn't really meet Ashley's fetish status. But that was okay. That was what Cordelia loved about Ashley. She always put 110% into everything she enjoyed. Passionate, was what most people would call it. Or crazy.

Pulling up in front of Ashley's place, Cordelia laid on the horn twice for her friend to hear.

Monday: Too Much Alike?

Who: Cordelia and Corwin
When: Noon
Where: Darkwater Computer Repair

Since it was Cordelia's day off, and apparently she was going to spend most of it shoe shopping with Ashley, Cordelia decided to reconnect with a couple more friends that day, since work had kept her quite busy over the last few weeks. So she headed off to the computer repair shop, camera strap hanging over her shoulder, and stepped inside to search for Corwin. She had every intention of making him take a break to get lunch with her, and if she could snap a few more pictures of him in the process, even better.

Corwin was out front at the moment, putting together a new display machine, and he sat on the floor with cords strewn everywhere as he plugged things in. He looked up at the little electronic-sounding tone that sounded when the door opened, and broke out into a little smile. "Cordelia. Hi. I wasn't expecting to see you today." Well, he didn't often expect to see her. She was, quite simply, better than he was, and he didn't understand why she spent time with him.

Well, except for the party thing. )
